Microsoft confirms Halo 5 for 2014.

Microsoft has moved to reassure gamers that the first Halo game for Xbox One will be releasing for Xbox One in 2014.

The company's Rob Semsey took to Twitter to confirm that today's announcement confirming the console's sale's figures didn't mention Halo 5 because the name isn't officially confirmed, meaning that we should probably stick to calling it just "Halo for Xbox One". Regrettably that takes longer to type, so we can't make any promises.

"Rest assured your next Halo journey WILL begin in 2014," he added, with the ever-reassuring hashtag of #staycalm.

The company has previously said that the new Xbox One version of Halo, announced at last year's E3 conference, isn't necessarily called Halo 5.. Edwin has nevertheless attempted to conduct a Halo 5 interview anyway, which 343 Industries' Dan Ayoub was too quick-thinking to be drawn on.

Whatever it ends up being called, Halo for Xbox One will join an impressive lineup of exclusives this year, which is already confirmed as including Insomniac's brightly-coloured open-world game Sunset Overdrive and Capy releases Below and Super Time Force. There's a reasonable chance we'll see Remedy's Quantum Break, too. For further tantalisation, we invite you to consider our list of the best Xbox One games of 2014.

I hope they name it Halo 5 so that the games can continue with the numbers. Also since the other Halo games have numbers from Halo 2 through Halo 4.

I'm actually starting to wonder if it is Halo 5 or not. They didn't confirm Halo 5, just Halo for Xbox One would come out. Given that they haven't taken to calling it Halo 5 yet when just about every one has almost suggests to me that 343 will try to surprise us at E3 this year. Maybe Halo 2 anniversary or some spin-off will launch for the Xbox One.

I feel that Halo 2 anniversary would be the biggest publicity stunt they could make right now, especially if it includes multiplayer.

I'm fairly certain this isn't gonna be Halo 5, considering the fact that they've just been calling it Halo for Xbox One or something like that ever since it was 'announced'... I mean, I hope it's H5, but I'm seriously doubting that right now. Either way, a new Halo game is a good Halo game so I'm not complaining!

I actually feel the exact opposite.

I think it's gonna be Halo 5, but I don't think it should be. I don't feel as though there has been enough time between Halo 4 up until now to create a decent successor. I most certainly want 343 industries to succeed in this upcoming title-whatever it may be-and I think they can if it's something similar to ODST, but trying to release an integral installation in the franchise within 18 months of the last game, I can't say I'm completely sold.

Halo 5 was in pre-production while Halo 4 was in production, so it has been longer than 18 months.

Anyways, my belief is why would they hold out on the 5 if it is Halo 5. The E3 thing to me was more of a 'surprise its Halo' kind of deal than a Halo 5 trailer.
