So according to the new interview with Kiki Wolfkill from G4TV X-Play, she hints at the origin of the STORM.

At 3:10 she talks about the covenant being enemies in past Halo games and how they are now once again an enemy to MC and the UNSC.

Possible Spoiler...maybe...

So from what it sounds like for those of you who have read/are reading Ghosts of Onyx and Glasslands, the truce between the Humans and Covenant/Elites is possibly broken or strained (possibly in The Thursday War). She even states it is broken at 3:37.

So the thought that the STORM were a faction of the old covenant that are no longer receving orders form the now dead prophets is seemingly thrown out of the window. It would seem more rather that the STORM are the split faction fo covenant and elites that split from the truce with the Humans in The Thursday War.

What do you all think?

The truce is not broken.

The storm is actually a division in the covenant who have been out of contact with the rest of everyone since basically the beginning, so, these guys still think the humans are enemies and what not. (basically, they have the mindset of pre-halo 3)

Well, thats what it looks like at least.

Thats exactly what i am saying is not the case...even Kiki Wolfkill herself states that the truce is broken and thats why the Humans anc Covie are fighting again. So read Thursday War First, it leads directly into Halo 4

There was never a Human/Covie truce in the first place, Ever.

There was a Human/Sangheilli truce.

Why on Earth would the Prometheans be 'teaming up' with the covenant? What could possibly be their common interest?

Possible working between the Proms and Covies is because all you see working for them is grunts and jackles the weakest of the covies. Easily controlled disposable units. Them seeing the Proms would be a revelation seeing their "gods" current or past in the flesh. In simple terms grunts and jackles are stupid and just are so used to having larger units control them in combat that they just slide into the role once the prometheans show themselves.

Warning spoiler in this post from halo books and other sources

the biggest theory was that a group called The Servants Of Abiding Truth (a sangheili group of monks that see the forerunners as gods) were going to form the storm, overtake the Vadum keeps, and declare war on humanity who also in accidental way kills hois wife. However once The Thursday War came out, clrity came. there is a Sangheili by the name of Jul 'Mdama who gets captured bythe humans. to make a story with little spoilers ill make it short. he is trapped by humans on a world with forerunner technolegy. through this technoledgy he learns of the Didact and how he hates humans. thru the technoledgy on the planet he escapes to a sangeili planet where he finds out where the location is of requiem is and with the help of the elites on this planet forms the storm and goes to find the didact to go wreck havoc on humanity getting his revenge.
