  1. ducain is right. There are ways, its just different. One way when moving objects horizontally, it to hold the object then position yourself above it, this will dramaticly slow its movement speed an allow precision placement. When moving objects up and down I use what I call the double tap. Basically tap the bumper to move the object, then tap the A button to drop it. If you do this very quickly, the object will move only slightly, and with a little practice you'll be forging as precisely as you did on Reach.
  2. Vader force choking Master Chief..... Vader wins. UNSC forces vs Tusken Raiders..... UNSC wins. Jawa Sand Crawler vs Elephant.... Elephant flattened. Yoda vs Master Chief... they both choose not to fight each other, instead, Master Chief begins his Jedi training, and becomes the ultimate warrior. All evil in the galaxy is destroyed by Jedi Chief.
  3. I wants my Action Sack. Soooo many silly game types. I admit some were lame, but some were amazing. Speedpile being my favorite.
  4. 5. This really depends on how you want to play. All the races come with bonuses. For example if you play as a Nord, and become a vampire you will be completely resistant to cold damage. Nords have 50% resistance vampires add an additional 40%. Dark Elves are resistant to fire damage. High Elves start with loads of extra magica, and are great for a character you want to develop into a mage. Imperials are useless, lol. Argonians are resistant to poison, and breathe underwater. Khajiit are super sneaky and see in the dark. But in the end any race can master any skill. So just pick one randomly and see what happens.
  6. This happened to me too.. I made a map on erosion, and it got saved over with a map from impact. This happened in Reach as well. Once it happens there is no way to recover the map that I know of. There are ways to prevent it from happening. Always save before you end a forge game even if you haven't made any changes. Make backups of all your maps. If you want to show your friends a map you are working on, don't do it in forge. Place a few spawn points so you can show them in custom games.
  7. NEVER HAD TACOS! Im sure you can get the ingredients there, find a good recipe on the web and make your own. I promise once you do you will never want bangers and mash again. If you cant find a good recipe hit me up. I am a retired chef, and I make amazing tacos.
  8. There are a lot of long sight lines when on the ground level of the map. There is also a lot of nearby cover for players on the ground level. The pelican is placed at such that it breaks up a lot of the sight lines. The video is of a pre tested build of the map. After testing I added more sight line blockers, changed the angle of the ramps that lead up to the upper walkways, and added cover to them, and added an interior to the pelican. Actually the pelican interior may have been a mistake, as there is only one way in and in testing has produced standoffs where one team was inside refusing to come out, and the other team refusing to go in. I may still change it up some. If you have any suggestions I would love to hear them.
  9. lol, I may have some suggestions for you. I cant really tell you in a post how to make a good slayer map. It is something you have to learn through experience. Here are some tips for getting started. Be prepared to fail! I had to make 20 or so bad maps before I started making OK maps. Then it took 20 OK maps before I made a really good one. This is part of the process, learn from each map you make, and apply the experience to the next. Most important is balance. when you are forging a map for team games make sure each team spawn area has the same advantages, and disadvantages. Dont place a power weapon where red team can get to it much easier than blue team. Pay attention to the way your favorite matchmaking maps play. Notice how the sight lines are, and where the cover is. How do they effect the game play and flow. As you are forging think about gameplay. Imagine yourself playing the map, as you make it. Every piece you place on a map will probably effect the game play in some way. If there is a place on a map where a shotgun would be amazing, dont put the shotgun there, same thing with a sniper. Place power weapons where they may not be as effective, and make a player fight his way to the good sniping spot, or the room with only two doors where a player with a shotgun can really rack up some kills. If a sniper rifle spawn in the perfect sniping spot, the first player to get there can enjoy a long game with constant ammo resupply as the sniper respawns. Every one else in the game will wind up quitting out, or even worse just hiding. Find inspiration every where you go. I got the Idea for a slayer map I just began testing from the floor plan of a local mall. I was out picking up some new shoes when the placement of a walkway overlooking one corner of the mall caught my attention. I took a few pics with my phone, and developed it into a really fun multi level slayer map. When placing spawn points, make sure players dont respawn out in the open, or facing a wall. Place a spawn point, then stand on it and imagine yourself spawning there during a game. Do you have any cover? Can you clearly see the way back to the fight? Will you take 2 steps then fall off the map to your death? Be sure to use team spawn zones to help keep your spawn areas safe, and balanced. Test your maps with the right people. Some people will rage on any map they don't know their way around. They will blame it on the map every time they get killed. Be sure and take a minute to explain the layout of the map, and the locations of teleporters, lifts and power weapon spawns before you start the game. One of the staff members here on this site does weekly map testing custom game lobbys check the Events section of the site to get more info, or send a pm to SPADES N AZ. He can help you get involved once you think you have something that is ready to be tested. Hope these tips helped. They wont turn you into an amazing forger over night, but they should keep you moving in the right direction. Happy Forging!
  10. I use a loadout in forge with the hologram armor ability. If im not sure how big an area is I just pop my hologram and I can see exactly how big it is in relation to an actual player. Hope this helps. .
  11. I did the same thing. I use a windows live email, which luckily lets you restore deleted emails. Not sure which email you use but see if it lets you do the same. Good luck.
  12. An HD PVR will set you back around $200, unless you are a pro at haggling. I beat the guy at Best Buy down to $180 still expensive, but the quality is worth it in the long run. As far as editing software I use a program I got on a free download called Video Pad (totally legal). It is very user friendly and lets you do a lot of cool transitions and effects. Its not as fancy as Sony Vegas, but it is a great place to start.
  13. This thread is totally racist.... ....against all non taco food items!
  14. ermergerd! A thread about tacos. I will never post anywhere else. um yea I like tacos! :taco: :taco: :taco:
  15. Wow you cant even tell its a camcorder, nice. I work on 3 different channels. The main one is linked in my sig. Then there is my personal forge channel, called DarkStar O72, The other is one called DiY Gamer TV, where I have done work on some machinma, and Halo map reviews. Feel free to check them out.
  16. Casper is right is is difficult to comment on this without being critical. I have worked on loads of Halo videos and Machinma. I know how much work it can be. You deserve to be commended for even attempting to undertake a machinma project. Sharing it with the community takes courage. Keep working on it. I cant wait to see a finished product. PM me if you need any help, or advise.
  17. Dude! I had that same controller for the original XboX. It was amazing. I play with south paw thumb sticks, and that thing was a dream come true. You never had to take a thumb off a stick for anything. I have never seen anything like it for the 360.
  18. "Serve the community"? How about you serve me up a BLT on rye! Ha ha ha ha! Just kidding Spades. I have known SPADES N AZ for a long time. He means what he says. He has been selflessly giving back to the Halo community for almost as long as I have known him. We haven't always seen eye to eye on things, but he has always had my respect. Not only for the way he treats people, but for his willingness to help, and encourage those who ask. Ok enough butt kissing..... Wheres my sandwitch!?! ... I love banana chief...

This is the only way to play. getting teamed up with randoms is almost always a terrible experience. Once in a while you might get lucky and meet some cool people. But usually its a bunch of tools who betray you for the sniper, or sit there and emp you in the Mantis cause you got to it first. Play with friends not with randoms!
  20. Welcome snk. I am new myself, but I can tell you there are loads of cool people around here. Get into some of the custom game nights, and you will have a chance to meet some. Check the Events section of the forum for details.
  21. Master Chief Defiantly wont all those rap battles, his initials are MC! Welcome, Dave I am pretty new here my self. Looking forward to seeing you around the forums.
  22. Im pretty great with competitive race tracks, and aesthetics Particularly city aesthetics like buildings, and sky lines. Used to be good with switches but all my old tricks don't seem to work on Halo 4 any more.
