No Bloom, Yes. Now minus Armor lock and I am all yours 343 ;)
Twinreaper replied to Mills3y's topic in Halo CE + Anniversary
As for you response to my post..... I was simply showing by correct defanition how you are using luck to.describe said headshot events. I have even submitted proof tag values to backup all spread issues with the weapons you questioned. Would you like me to humiliate you more by posting up a picture of the tag values in my map editor? Both Goon and I have submitted numerouse times ample proof to.debunk your claims and the only defense you can give us is mere words of digust and a lack of appriciation for trying to teach you something. Note to self..... start a tag value and game play mechanic thread with illustrated editor pictures to silence these noobs once and for all. -
If you dont know how the tags are structured or what data they contain and how it is used, then you do not understand this thing called bloom or any other in game mechanics. You can play a game all you want. But until you know how specific functions work in the game engine, you cannot say you know how bloom works. Thats like saying you understand the algorythim process behind a 128 bit private key lock because you enter a password everyday to login.

Good question Iceman. Unfortunately I have only a partial answer for that based on what I do know of MegaloScript. AL seems as if it is executing a function to change in memory, the value of the timer and the health of the equipment. I say in memory, because that is the only way the game engine would be able to keep this change separated from other game types, and not force 343 to have to re-issue new game discs or digital downloads of the game. Now assuming this is how they are doing it, it is logical to assume that the particular script for this is only being executed once a set number or variables is achieved. Such as.... is the player in this game type? Is the player in this variant? Is it matchmaking, custom etc? So the part I cannot answer with any degree of certainty or knowledge is how the game engine handles the memory flow or stores tag values in memory. And how often does memory get flushed during the coarse of the game,. It is quite a possibility to see perhaps something residual in memory get carried over to a campaign match by mistake. That would suck though. Imagine the poor guy playing through legendary on POA. Just as he lowers a elite zealots shields, a fuel rod blast comes his way. He hits armor lock to avoid it and the plasma rounds coming his way. Only to find that his AL was half drained by the fuel rod, and now stands no chance in between 2 elite zealots charging at him. Of coarse this is an exaggeration, but none the less you would not want to go into a battle with a tactic in mind, only to have that tactic stomped on because a memory edited value got carried over by mistake. So yeah Iceman, it is quite a possibility that after the TU and enough playthough that we may find little bugs like this. It sucks but it is part of the process.

So it's better to stick around and go 2 on 1 and get owned, than swallow your pride and retreat in hopes to become victorious on the next meeting? Wow. Makes sense to me. -
Bloom is not recoil. Recoil is the "Angle change per shot upper" and "Angle change acceleration" values located in the [weap] tag. Bloom is a reticule widget function of the HUD. It's operation HUD perpose is to give the player a visually flaring reticule that encompases the area in which the "min and max error angle" of the projectile is predicted to land.

Unfortunatly no, you cant just simply just go in and swap outt extures on any of the maps that come shipped. And modding them the 2 major H2v apps Mr Mohawk and gravemind yield unfortunate results for your maps. I'm still working on a few things to do with it, but no luck as of yet.

Real quick i need to correct a value from my post above. the initial and ending velocity for the BR is 400. 1200 was the sniper rifle. The error angle was also 0.005235988 and a max of 0.01047198. So many numbers to remember...I was bound to be slightly off at some point., lmao -

Twinreaper replied to Mills3y's topic in Halo CE + Anniversary
Wrong. the BR did have a bullet spread and it was not hitscan. The error angle and spread was set to .02 under the tag data, and the velocity of the projectile was set to initial velocity 1200 and max 1200, IIRC. The bullet spread was minimal, but noticable to a sharp shooter with it at long range. Which is why 50% of the time a full 3 shot burst would have only 2 of the projectiles hit the target. Which of coarse noone paid attention to due to the extreme velocity of the projectiles and the fact that they imitated hitscan. As for your argument of luck, luck as defined in this sense is: "The chance happening of fortunate or adverse events; fortune" Luck is how people explain happenings without a direct at the moment explanation. When in fact, the "luck" you supposedly had was just a chain of events that played out and snowballed onto another action or reaction, without your prior or current knowledge. For real luck, or randomness to happen, a completely unlimited amount of choices and variables have to be present that could effect the end result in any way shape or form. In a game, luck, chance and random is not real. There are set rules, variables and a limited number of each. This defeats the purpose of true random or luck happenings. If you are going to go and attack my friend Goon for his on point actual facts about a statement made by someone, you will have to go through me first! And thanks for the info Goon. Sounds like it might be a blast. Definatly gonna play thru a few rounds with my son on friday. Who knows, I might see you there! -

I never got into invasion really. I mostly play firefight, and they have screwed with till no end. i may have to give Invasion a try sometime. Perhaps me and the boy will give it a go this friday. Is it a good time, or overly frustrating mostly? -
Bloom is a HUD widget that moves or expands the "reticule" to encompass the space needed to show a player where the shots can be expected to land. Removing bloom only removes the HUD widget. Exactly how is "bloom" a manipulation of randomness? I expect a little bit better argument than just saying it is. can you please explain in tag value detail how this is done? Go ahead sport give it a try, so I can come back and laugh at your attempt to try to tell me, how the [proj], [weap], [chud], and [effe] tags work. This is gonna be a laugh riot guys. Hey Mystic, get ready to change your wares! Oh and by the way, CE did not have eventual or slow moving bloom. Squeeze down the trigger and by shot 3 your shots go past the reticule entirely. Halo 2 and Halo 3, I assume you are referring to the BR or Magnum. In either case you are wrong, and again, please site specific tag definitions and value settings to prove your case. Well actually either way, I know full well what the settings are, how they work, and regardless you will lose due to cold hard tag value proof anyway. Good luck jr.!

maybe a few of us should ask nintendo if they still have programming resources for MK64? Either that, or some of us could team up and try to reverse engineer the game and see about injecting our own level data? You could easily get support running for it thru a jtag 360.

Dual weilding, or no dual weilding. man that is a great question. I loved it in halo 2 and 3. During ODST at first, I wish they had it, but quickly grew to love the old world style of one wepaon like in Halo 1. But for Reach or even halo 4, I dont know. I guess the way for me to personally decide on that one, would be to play thru a beta with the changes in there, and then a version without them. Sometimes for me it all depends on the mood or the overall feeling of the campaign and multiplayer gameplay. If anything, why not just make it a customizable feature, similar to what they want to do with the weapons and AA's? Assuming they are using the Reach Blam! engine and MegaloScript as the cores for the Halo 4 engine, it would not be out of the scope of possibilities.

Food fight for the Atari. Epic food flinging goodness. Shame the level counter topped out at 128 or so. I remember playing levels over and over again and the counter wouldn't budge. Good times my friends, good times.

Can't do it. All the bitmaps and shaders are locked into the mainmenu.map just like it's xbox brother version. Actually, the bitmaps are split between all 3 resource maps, but a good majority of the sp ones are in single_player_shared.map. You can use high-res textures on custom maps, but we have yet to finally get a duplicate custom copy of any resource map compiled. I'm still doing my end of research on it though. I can keep you posted on it if you like?

I would love another PC port of a Halo game. If not 3 or ODST, then yes, definatly for CE. It's epic win all around!!! C'mon 343i and M$, give us PC guys/gals some Halo love this or next holiday season!!!! I say "this" only because we don't have a definate yes or no to anything pc being in development.

It's a losing battle Goon. Even with bloom adjustable and this and that fixed, they will find other reasons to blame for sucking or the game being unfair to some. And yeah, more than likely it was lag in the match that caused the shot to appear and register as a hit on the biped's head "hitbox". Just because it is on youtube people, does not make it proof or accurate. as Goon said, poke around thru the netcode and the registered server data first before you jump to conclusions. -
hate it when people cannot post anything but insulting retoric instead of constuctive information as to why you are wrong.

So let me guess this straight, I have no intelligence because I have not studied in detail the zillion different contradicting story lines and past writings of the Halo universe? Mighty big of you to assume I am some little kid with no intelligence that collects porn. What are you, 12? perhaps it is you who needs to go back and play halo 3. i don't care what myth or story says what. The fact is, in the ending of Halo3, you clearly see the back end of the ship get caught or partially caught in the ark's blast. And yes it was an actual ring blast, not the ark simply blowing up. Cortana states that. Further more if the ship was caught in the blast, it would have killed Chief. What IS puzzling is the fact that Cortana says they made it through the portal just in time. What portal? It didn't show any portal when the ship was in space. Was it a slipspace rupture or the portal created by the site on earth? And even if there was a portal and the ship was not caught in the blast, it does not explain how the ship broke apart the way it did. Chief and Cortana were in the aft section. If there was a blast behind them, it would not have torn the ship apart the way it did. Instead it would have projected the entire vessel, just not the front of it. Anyway, Halo Legends and the stories in it, are just that...stories. nothing in the dvd claimed to be accurate or fact. it is simply a bunch of different stories based on other peoples interpritation of the Halo Universe. Can you link me to an article stating the forerunners survived? Because what I have read on the wikia, is that they abandoned the plan to retreat to these shield worlds when one of the mendicts or whatever defected to the flood and revealed the locations of the shield worlds. It also states many times that all the worlds were abandoned, and then discovered and stripped of all usbale materials by the covenant. See, I can google and read too. My main point about the story line so far with Halo 4 is how vague it all seems. They have given us no indication on how they plan to link all the events of every Halo or all it's histories together. I may not study everything in the great detail you kids do, but I go by what is published in-game first before some other secondary source on paper not officially published Bungie or Joe Staten. It is quite pathetic that you would rather personally attack me because my view of the events differ from yours. You could have quite simply posted up what I said was wrong and why without the insults. Is it too much to ask for a little maturity?

I think we both misunderstood what we were posting. I glanced through your your posts not realizing that you were stating that bloom is a love or hate thing, and that you dont see how it would effect a gamers skill, and cannot understand why people hate it so much. I thought you were saying the opposite, that it adds a new level of spammy-ness and is bad for reasons. I think it safe to say that we agree on almost everything. I wasn't trying to call you out. I was just trying to point out things I misunderstood on behalf of most of the members here who have never poked around the games actual tags and values. The only thing I can see that we do disagree on is the weapon mechanics behind CoD and Halo. In Cod there is just as much weapon spread as Halo. I have played Black ops with my son a few times, and I can never land consecutive hits either with holding the trigger down for automatic fire or pulling the trigger rapidly. I can visibly see the impact damage hitting everything but my target, except a few times when shots land. Now on every weapon, the first few shots will land your target, but also I have found when playing thru, that CoD tries to more closely emulate the real battle thing. Technically in real life if you got shot in the foot, the toe wouldn't be the only thing to suffer damage. Chances are in a real battle, you would bleed to death from major arterie damage, and lack of a medic right there or evac to help you out. So I guess the whole getting shot in the foot and instantly dying part is a lot better than crawling around or hopping, and slowly dying. Although it would be hilarious fun to hop around the corner on one foot and headshot someone. I would love to see the killcam of a player hopping around. For that matter, I think it would be fun if they had done some sort of battle damage mechanic for the spartans. Maybe when the shields were lowered, show some bullet holes or make it possible to blow off their arms and legs. How great would it be to take out the arm of that nade thrower for the whole match, or for that matter, take out someones arms and just watch them run around trying to pick up weapons or a flag. It would be priceless fun all around. What would they do...jump on me to death? LMAO!

Just got to General Grade 3 today! We really need to add a few rules to this. if your gonna post or brag that you are hero or higher and dont have a commendation level 60%, you score farmed your rank, period. And by scorefarm, I mean you play constantly on a specific gametype non-stop with no hope of ever improving a full set of commendations.

The whole story is BS from what I have read about it so far. You mean to tell me, there is some crazy frorunner planet outside of our galaxy somewhere? If this thing were in our own galaxy, it would have been destroyed by the halo rings when they were first fired. The halo rings were neural weapons, and from what i read in a few books and the halo wiki, the precursors tech and living enviroments were based off neural-bio components. Which is why nothing from the precursors exist now. it was all destroyed when the rings fired. The forerunners did not have the monitors restrore themselves as they did with every other life form in the galaxy. For that matter, how the heck is ONI or the UNSC gonna get involved. The only way the forerunners are alive, is if they are outside our own galaxy. In which case how would anyone be able to communicate with the Chief or Cortana. Let me guess, Chief will steal a forerunner ship and magically be guided back to earth? Yeah.......... So far, not very good. They better be able to do a lot better than that. Oh yeah i almost forgot about the ending to halo3. How is it, that the arbiter survived and his section of the ship crash landed and was found? Chiefs was clearly caught in the blast when escaping. So how is that? Was he magically teleported to another region of space by the blast? Or are they gonna say something lame like, "His section of the ship ws torn from the front and catipulted". Yeah........
