  1. I will admit that they didn't explain much in campaign as to what was going on, but then again, the first Halo didn't do a whole lot to explain either. Still, as "Anon" has stated, the story is there somewhere or online somewhere, it's just a matter of them focusing on Cortana and Master Chief's relationship more than anything else in the campaign, and letting outside sources fill in the other details, which in truth is no different than how the other Halo games have always done with everything that wasn't immediately important to the story. Still, they could have had some more information easily visible as to what is going on. Who knows though, they may be planning on telling us more with the Spartan Ops campaign as it releases...... As for your disappointment with Spartan Ops, you do have to remember that it is meant to be played as a multiplayer campaign, rather than as a second singleplayer experience. I'll admit that even on Legendary, playing through it solo the first time was a bit underwhelming, but I had a lot more fun once I played through it with some friends...... Also, as I stated before, I'm sure they'll include some sort of ranked playlist as time goes on, but right now, they're still dealing with trying to get everything set up and working correctly. It makes sense that they'd focus at first with the more casual fanbase which comprises the majority of Halo players and getting them satisfied before they focus on the much more picky, (and I don't mean that in a bad way), pro players. I doubt it will be too long before they get things going more to your liking, but until then, I can understand why you might feel a little disappointing with the initial content. Frankly, I'm already a little tired of playing regular slayer, and am grateful they'll be releasing SWAT as a playlist this week...... Also, feel free to PM me your gamertag, and I'll be happy to play some rounds with you. Having a good team backing you makes all the difference......
  2. To answer my own question, it resets at midnight..... EDIT: Or not, it seems like it lets you can go back to getting a little experience after you haven't played for a couple of hours, but then it caps again, which is just annoying....... EDIT 2: It's also really annoying that the XP cap prevents you from earning the experience you would have gotten from completing a commendation. I completed one of the "Bullet to the Brain" commendations, (Expert I think), last night, that was supposed to give me 2000 XP, but because I had hit the cap during the previous game before I played another match and earned it, that XP from the commendation just disappeared. At the very least, they shouldn't block the XP from commendations, because by doing that, they're giving you absolutely no incentive to keep playing when you hit the daily cap, and are actually giving you reasons not to keep playing because you'll lose your chance at large amounts of XP......
  3. I hate to agree with the OP, but I really am getting annoyed by the XP cap too. I can understand wanting to prevent players from boosting or going through the ranks too quickly, but all it does is make me instantly stop playing when the cap is reached. I will definitely keep playing once I've leveled through all the specializations, but as is, I simply feel no need to play anymore when I know that I have ranks left to advance, but can't because the game won't let me. It's one thing to be at max rank, and another entirely to know that the game is actively preventing you from earning anything for your time....... On a similar note, it is a "Daily XP" limit. Does anyone know if it resets at midnight, or when the daily challenges reset in the morning?
  4. I just want people to stop always picking Ragnarock, (aka: Valhalla), EVERY time it comes up, even if we just played on it three times in a row......
  5. Actually, now that I think about it, I do like the fact that more people shooting you means an almost instant death, since it supports teamwork, rather than CoD style, "one-man army", gameplay.....
  6. I actually prefer playing Team Snipers and Team SWAT, and in all honesty I won't be touching regular slayer games once they release those playlists. True, that I may not care quite as much about playing just to win, but that's not saying I play just to have fun. I can understand where you are comming from when you are complaining about there being no penalty for losing, since I liked the rank system from the Halo 3 multiplayer a whole lot, however considering the fact that right now there are no playlists besides Regicide where your own skill ammounts to anything, it's not entirely unexpected that they'll include a rank system when they realease other playlists, such as MLG, since that's the whole reason people play those gametypes. All I'm saying is that you are judging a newly released game as horrible because it doesn't have everything you want avaliable right from the start. If you remember correctly, it wasn't until later in Halo 3's lifespan that they included the more skill-oriented gametypes. Also, what exactly is it that you were dissapointed with in the campaign? It had a good variety of locations and objectives, as well as being more difficult than the previous games, especially in the later levels, and definetly more so on Legendary. On top of that, they vastly improved the AI, so that now they made an effort to get out of the way of your weapons rather than stand there getting shot...... As for me needing to "broaden my scope," I'm not talking about what I've heard on the 343 website, since I don't pay attention to most people who post here, due to the simple fact that they are undoutably biased towards the game. I'm talking about all the sites that I usually visit, as well as all of my friends, (some of who were die hard Halo 3 fans who wouldn't touch Reach after they played for more than a week), and yet the biggest complaints I've heard prior to you were simply about issues with the servers being a bit touchy, (which is due to the massive ammount of players to sign on so early after the game released), and about the fileshare system not wanting to work properly, (again, server issues). Asside from that, my only complaint is the fact that more than one people focusing on one person almost always ends with that one person dying, namely me. Though that is more due to a lack of teamwork on my team's part than any real flaw in the system.....
  7. Seriosly, what's wrong with you? You are litterally the only person I've heard say anything negative about Halo 4. I mean I understand that you have a right to your own opinion and all, but if you had of payed any attention to the stuff they showed in trailers and details they released before the game came out, then you would have realized that it was not going to be the same tried and true gameplay like Halo 3 did. If they were afraid to try new things, then they'd just fall into the same pile of garbage that CoD has, where every game is the same, but with different weapon skins and a slightly different campaign. 343 had to prove that they had what it takes to take over the Halo franchise, and they've deffinitely done that. I was far more interested in the story of this Halo game than I've been since Halo 1, and maybe even a little more than I was then. Yea, it's a little different, but that's a good thing. Series progress by doing NEW things, not staying the same.... In my opinion, 343 has done an even better job than Bungie ever did, (which honestly suprised me a little bit), and has made the best Halo game to date......
