  1. Posted by IGN a little bit ago. Talks about new strengths and weaknesses with the updated Graphics interface. --------------------------------------------------------------- After 10 years of Halo, the original isn't the challenge it used to be. We've all become better killers behind the Master Chief's helmet, and the Covenant in Halo CE Anniversary haven't evolved to cope. But that's sort of the point. At least, that's the impression that I get after spending some time with Halo Anniversary both a few weeks ago at 343i's offices and again last night at this year's inaugural Halo Fest. While the Covenant was busy falling down amidst plasma grenade chain reactions (just like you remember them), I was busy switching back and forth between the way things were and the world of Halo CE through the lens of 2011. Video http://xbox360.ign.com/articles/119/1190914p1.html It's a strange lens at times. Going from the mysterious and oh-so-2001 fog-plagued view of 343 Guilty Spark of Halo CE to a ominous and alien swamp courtesy of Saber Interactive is... jarring, to say the least. It's distracting wandering around a level you thought you knew to see everything that's been done. Everything looks more alive than it did before, which changes the general vibe of the level in distinct ways. The haunted swamp feel has been pushed aside by a foreboding green and yellow light emanating from the trees. You'll lose track of that when the shooting starts though. In that respect, everything is as it was. Halo CE is filled with moments involving a valley, trees, and a dozen or more Grunts and Jackals. These kinds of encounters dwindled in later games, and playing them again, I realize how much they've been missed. There's a great sense of pacing to timing shots from the Halo CE pistol to maximize efficiency, alternating between close grouped head shots on Grunts and well aimed arm shots on shield-bearing Jackals to leave them vulnerable. No other Halo game has gotten that same pistol-powered rhythm down as well. The one-two-three of effective pistol usage is empowering and distinctive and... I really missed Halo: Combat Evolved. It's good to have it back again. There are some wrinkles in the experience right now though. First, hardcore Halo fans will want to foreswear the wireless controller in lieu of a wired one. The finer points of Halo combat were tuned around the wireless-lag-free response of the original Xbox controller, and things might feel a little more floaty than you recall otherwise. Then there's the 3D. This being 2011 and all, a major title can't seem to hit our greedy little hands without some implementation of 3D, and Saber Interactive and 343i have implemented it pretty well. Aside from the world's longest gun barrel, there's a great sense of depth, and a lot of adjustment options. Plus, it supports passive 3D for compatible televisions, so you can spring for lots of cheap, theater style glasses for everyone you want to suffer through watching you play Halo in 3D. The bad news is that the lag-induced floatiness I mentioned before is even more prominent in 3D mode. All that image processing takes valuable milliseconds, and honestly, playing in 3D with a wireless controller played havoc with my mojo. We'll see how things play out when the game releases later this year though - in the two weeks between my sessions with the game, there were major improvements in framerate and performance. As for how it looks, I could tell you. Or, instead, you could check out the full 11 minute video walkthrough of Halo Fest's 343 Guilty Spark demo above. Halo Combat Evolved Anniversary will be available on November 15th. For all your exclusive Halo Fest coverage needs, including live streams of every Halo Fest panel, check out

  4. Very nice Check out the gameplay http://www.ign.com/videos/2011/08/26/halo-anniversary-installation-04-flythrough
  5. The Firefight with Marine AI sounds sweet. I wish you could do Fire fight with more than 2 friends or 4 total.
  6. The Halo: Reach Title Update will add more options and flexibility to Halo: Reach's Multiplayer. It will roll out in late September and gives 343 designers the following levers to create game variants in Matchmaking playlists. Of course while all of these features can be enabled via Matchmaking playlists, players should remember that 'normal' Reach gameplay can and will continue untouched in its own Matchmaking playlists. The features and elements listed here are tools available to us and will be used and implemented appropriately. News on the timing of the Title Update release will be revealed at the Halo: Anniversary panel at 10 am on the 26th of August during Halo Fest. Specifics: Make damage bleed to health through shields possible. Make reticle bloom configurable. Modify Armor Lock. • Sticky grenade will not be nullified if you use Armor Lock after being stuck. • Damage received while in Armor Lock is transferred to remaining Armor Ability energy. • How much the damage depletes your Armor Lock energy is configurable. Modify Active Camo. • Reduce the bonus time the player gets in Active Camo while standing still. • Reduce the overall length of time the player can be in Active Camo. Remove Sword block. • Disable the ability to block Sword attacks using melee with anything other than another Sword. Implement the classic Magnum from Halo: CE. Enable playing Co-Op Campaign and Firefight without requiring a HDD. -Taken from HaloWaypoint Written by BS Angel
  7. I saw halo4follower on youtube mention that page. I have yet to check it out. I hope its legit. A halo movie is the one movie I have been wanting to see get made more than anything. The second is World War Z. I saw they are finally filming recently. That movie should be freaking fantastic.
  8. +1 I wish that people cared about rank and skill in Halo now like they did in 2004-2009. I hope the new H4 will bring that back.
  9. Dude. Everyone here loves halo and is moderately happy with the way things are. We don't want 343 giving people the option to screw with the script and crap. We want updates and changes yes. Do I want the type of modding you are asking for? No because then people like your self begin to change stuff way beyond what halo is truly meant to be like. I am fine with a limitless forge. BUT I don't want anyone script modding.
  10. I thought I had heard it was fake too. I like the ideas a little bit but I dont know about a grav hog or some of the other stuff. I am certianly insterested to see how they would explain the UNSC being present there.
  11. I agree LuLz. I don't want people flying way up into the sky away from the battle. I just want a small area like outside of anchor 9 where we can forge.
  12. Here is a thought though. Massive Firefight. What if you and say up to 12 of your buddies wanted to get on and play a massive firefight on a really large map like the size pf the canyon area of forge world, or the U shaped snow levels of halo 2 and 3. The idea is that hundreds of AI spawn all over the map? You have to work as a team to survive because of the massive numbers of AI attacking you. Maybe you have to hunt them down forcing you to split up into smaller groups. Maybe you are hunkered down in a base at the center of the map and have to fight off the waves of enemies that come. You have to protect the base so they don't destroy it. Make it just like firefight with ability to adjust game settings for weapons, shields, skulls and the like.
  13. Woah i do not want H4 to be just like 2 & 3. I want something new as well but i just figured if they kept Frank Oconnor on board then hopefully Marty was coming along too. If he is not I'm not going to get mad or anything. I just like his composing style. If they get a new guy then so be it.
  14. A space map? I can see having a space area or forgeable area with space properties but giant ships logswords and frigates? Seriously go do that somewhere other than halo.
  15. TwinReap You crack me up. I agree you should only get the legendary achievement with Funeral Skull off.
  16. Seriously OP, we need you to use at least a touch of refinement and show some knowledge of proper grammar.
  17. When CE launched Bungie had no idea that they had just created an earth shattering franchise. Out of respect for Bungie and the original Title that gave it to us all, 343 is doing a great service to the community and for fanboys around the world by remastering the game and keeping the gameplay identical to the first. I can not wait till 11/15!

    br?

I am not crazy about the idea of having multiple shotguns or Assault type rifles. Obviously one would be a bit better than the others and people would only use that one. I would leave only one type of each weapon. 2 basic types UNSC rifles assault and a precision like the DMR or BR. We only need one precision rifle but not both.
  19. Im talking about the official Halo 4 Forge thread. http://www.343industries.org/forum/index.php?/topic/603-the-official-halo-4-forge-thread/
  20. I don't like the idea of killing humans. I just want to fight the flood. either as an elite or a spartan....
  21. I think there is a second ark. Another one sent to the farside of the universe, an MC just found it.
  22. There is a whole thread about them in the CEA forum. If homefront can support that many then why has everyone in multiple forums said the xbox cap for multiplayer is 24?
  23. I think water should be a soft kill zone. 10 seconds to get out or die.
