I can see it now.... map options to vote for are: Halo CE: Chillout, Halo CE: Hang Em High, Halo 2: Ascension

Team votes for Halo CE: Chillout

Game starts up, it's 4v4 with a plasma pistol to start off and radar is on......

No one plays Halo CE like this.

For Halo CE there needs to be a stand alone playlist that is 2v2 that has generic pistol start with no radar with the ranking system that was used in halo 2.

Custom games is fine, but definitely need this also.

What are kids going to do when they go up against old school halo 1 pros in 2v2 and get dominated 50-2?  Quit out, join back up, and pray that a halo CE map is not voted on again LOL?

Put the CE maps in it's own community with it's own ranking system.  Give the Halo 3 - Halo 4 kids a chance to not get their ranking destroyed by the elder old sckool halo 1 gods!

You've obviously never played one game of CE on the PC then.  THAT is where the only CE multiplayer took place.  Weird starts like Plasma Pistols, or no weapons is a common occurrence.  And NOONE plays CE 2v2!?!   CE does NOT need a  rank system.  CE is a perfect game without it, and I'm sure all the CE players out there would agree.  Adding ranks to it would change the game.  And on a side note, we have side apps for ranks and stats tracking already.

Halo CE came out on the XBOX in 2001.  We would play it on-line using a PC app called Gamespy, and then later on using the far better XBC software.  There would be 300-400 games hosted on any given weekday.  If you actually played the game back then, you would know this.

After the first month, if you joined or made a game that didn't have the pistol/AR start and radar turned off, either people would leave your game or you would leave theirs.  No one played with a plasma pistol start and radar.  This was standard practice.  2v2 team slayer was standard, sometimes 4v4 TS and objective games.  .  The same thing held true for the lan games.  Halo PC came out in 2003, and we played that as well but the hit detection was inferior and the competition much more inferior to those that played on the console.  We gave it a chance, and custom games were decent, but overall the game just didn't measure up to the console version.   Gearbox tried, gave us 6 more maps, and there were many interesting user made maps but compared to the console it didn't stand a chance.

For Halo CE, the best players who still play currenlty are Ogre 2, Patch, Harris, and Legend.  Ask any of them and they will tell you 2v2 is the prefered game with the settings mentioned above.  Pistol/AR start with no radar.

CE WAS perfect without a rank system, until the halo 2 rank system was launched.

The good players are not always going to play customs, so I have no interest in playing against novices that will take years to match the skill level of someone that's been playing for 13 years, and I'm sure they will not get any enjoyment out of the game either constantly getting killed.   That's where the rank system comes in.  Good players will rank up quickly, so that elite players can play against each other.

The only people who don't want a rank system are bad players that want to feel like a winner.  The presence of a low rank # by their name is the last thing they want lol!

There's going to be alot of frustrated kids getting stomped in this game unless a rank system is applied.  Default settings for team slayer 2v2 and 4v4 should be:

Kills to Win = 50

Death Bonus = Off
Kill Penalty = Off
Other Players On Radar = Off
Respawn Time = 5 Seconds
Suicide Penalty = 10 Seconds
Equipment = Generic

Radar has always been a part of Halo and it is one for a reason. It in no way reduces skill when it is entirely fair. Everyone has it. In fact, it requires you to pay attention to both your screen and your radar for full awareness, so it arguably increases skill.

Also, don't say "no one" plays anything like this, it's always going to be an erroneous statement.

Before you say anything, you should know that Twinreaper is probably one of biggest experts here on terms of Halo.

Saying that only way you could play Halo: CE online was on the PC version is wrong no matter how many ways you slice it. My friend used to do it through xbox connect, just like how wargod said he did it.

Radar in Halo CE does reduce skill. Why do you think they REMOVED it in competitive play for CE? For that very reason. Feel free to continue to try and argue with me Prime. Your opinion couldn't be more wrong.

And twinreaper lost credibility with me when he said that Halo CE on the PC is where the only multiplayer took place.

The only type of gamer that wouldn't want a rank system to be included in this game is one that doesn't want to be exposed as having a lack of skill.

Xbc and others like Tunngle and Kai are not online multiplayer. The xbox had no host servers, they were all p2p self hosted games via LAN. Halo PC was the only way to play on dedicated servers in true online multiplayer fashion. 2vs2 on console may have been the preffered gametype, but on the PC there is no favorite. Your measly 500 matches dont equate to anything. You can find 15-20 servers constantly full 24/7 on Halo PC. Your MLG buds may rule the XBC scene, but they would gwt smacked by most players on the PC today. As for your connection argument, both LAN and hosted online engines share the same netcode. The only difference? We got updates to.fix connection issues and make the game more stable.

Fact is Halo PC is one the most played games period in terms of sheer numbers of population. But you can keep posting false information if you like, I find it funny...

Last I checked there was about 400 players playing Halo CE on PC. When this game comes out on XB1, those numbers will be crushed because halo CE on console > Halo CE on PC. Regardless if you are playing on a dedicated server or not, playing against another console box over the internet through the use of p2p software against someone across the USA is "online".

An internet connection was used to play, and as long as host had 3mbps dl, pings and packet sending was fine resulting in minimal lag.
Halo CE came out on console and I was playing it for 2 years before I bought the PC version. Playing it on the PC and console at the same time I noticed after a year that the PC version was inferior. LAN in the same home on CE is superior to Halo PC and so was XBC on the console. Take any halo PC player today and play against anyone I mentioned on the console, and they would get dominated.

Anyways, this game is coming out on console and not on PC (thank goodness) so there's no point really in discussing the inferior PC platform.

Pc being inferior is of coarse yoir opinion.  My opinion is the opposite, based on the fact that the PC version allows so much more content to be realized and extends the replay value far past any map.pack or other support that could ever be generated for a console.  PC gaming is more for gamers who want ultimate control over the game they are playing, and for the modders and content developers, we simply cant get anything near acceptable for that support anywhere else but PC.  In the end I really dont care.  You go play your mainstream garbage console, and I will go play my awesome pc.  again, garbage being my opinion.

And hey, congrats on your 1 like.

Every game I've tried on both the PC and the XB, was better on the former. I'd imagine with mods, upgrades and updates due to advanced hardware, and the mouse, all make PC gaming better. If you don't like the mouse, use a remote.

I'm a console player, but I've seen what I've seen. Unlike you, Twinreaper's claims are founded, except for some of his haphazard remarks. Lol

If your going to try and form an opinion, at least base it on correct information. The console version contains modded maps just like the PC version. The difference however is that prior to release, the modded console maps underwent rigorous beta testing to ensure that they were suitable for competitive game play. Weapon placement, spawns, and overall map flow.

http://www.halo1foru...n-download.html

I've played several halo PC modded map and from a competitive standpoint, they pale in comparison. Also on halo PC, the hit detection is completely different than console. Feels completely different. I was one of the first to use an Xbox controller on halo CE using an adapter and 3rd party software. The feeling of the controls is not the issue, it's the overall game itself feels different. Anyone who's played enough of both versions would know the difference. If Halo PC gamers want to play their inferior (from a competitive standpoint) let them. As someone that's put in considerable time into both versions, it's no comparison as to which version contains the higher skill curve. Any objection to that opinion is simply due to not fully understanding the complexity of the game from a skill standpoint.

Your basing all this on competative play?  I am basing this on overall gameplay and the capabilities of both.  No modding on the console could ever compare to the PC, not even that glotchy PC to CE converter tool.  For overall experience the PC was far batter.  If your talking competative, then yes a console is better for that and proveovides a more solid connection since it was handles through Lan.  Maybe this is news to you, but not everyone plays competative hardcore.  Some of us play for fun, but I guess we're inferior for that.  Having fun in a game...how ludicrous!

Well there in lies the fact that we really aren't arguing about anything then since we are talking about 2 different things.  I'm talking about competitive game play and you're talking about modding capability.  I was saying that from a competitive standpoint the PC version is inferior, and it's not just the LAN connection, it's the overall hit detection mechanic difference.

From a modding standpoint PC is better, but the console version holds it's own because the completely new maps that were done in the link I shared play just like the original maps, and they flow every well and everything was thought out.  I'm not talking about the 6 PC maps being converted to console, I'm talking about completely different maps.

Twinreaper if you are speaking for the noncompetitive casual gamers then you SHOULD be all for a Halo CE ranking system in matchmaking. Without it casuals will be getting constantly wrecked by people who have been playing the game for 14 years and probably won't play it very long. There is a much larger skill curve in Halo CE then the rest of the games and it can be frustrating to the point of no fun constantly playing people out of your league. A ranking system would make it a lot better expierence for everyone who plays matchmaking, keeping games a lot more fair/even.

There's going to be one ranking system for all the games. The may have it seperated though.

Many of these players don't understand how much skill is involved in Halo CE.  They think that they are going to pick the game up and own like they do at COD and halo 4.  (very easy games to get kills in)

I'll honestly be shocked if someone scores more than 5 kills in a game upto 50 the first 6 months they have it in 2v2 TS against skilled players.

Wargod, that was the exact point I was trying to make, but I worded it poorly. And no, whoever asked, I am not speaking for anyone, as I said, I am.speaking in general as a long long time CE player like Wargod. As he is suggesting, a majority of players will likely rage quit due to the severe skill gap between CE and Halo 4. CE stands in a league all its own.

I loaded up halo CE for the PC.  I'm on 1.10 patch.   There's many servers but all of them are 0/16 in team slayer, and only one server on Danger Canyon on is 15/16 CTF.  So only 15 people playing total, in the entire Halo Custom Edition.  What do I need to download to see a new server list with more than 15 people playing?  Is there a particular server IP that you recommend playing on?

What's the difference between Halo CE and Halo PC as seen here:

http://halo-fixes.fi...s-the-lobby-fix

I only have halo CE installed.

Custom Edition doesn't get any play at all anymore that I know of.  Most of all the action takes place on standard Halo PC.  I did hear something from Kornman about 1.10 not supporting Opensauce though, which would again account for maybe the player list being so low.  I know a lot of Custom edition gameplay was using Opensauce.
