Should the DMR get a nerf and if so, how?

That's really all that needs to be said. Without bias on either side or arguing about which one you like more. Facts are facts. DMR fires faster (Kills faster) than all starting weapons in the game.

You can continue to defend either one. But the facts are there. Instead of going on and on about how the DMR is balanced... How about we get the weapons balanced and actually compete in the same arena to see which weapons are better.

  • Carbine (Should be the fastest killing and highest skill curve is used right)

  • DMR is a marksman weapon for medium to long range.

  • BR is supposed to be the Close/Medium range killing machine.

  • LightRifle is supposed to be a mix of the other three.

DMR wins all the battles in perfect scenario's. Maybe in unskilled hands or a good strafe in a close fight might be able to get you a win with without using the DMR. But that is pretty much it. Stop being such fanboys and have some objectivity towards these issues.

if u get killed alot by the wielders of the DMR, ur in fact a n00B!!! <_<

thats why u put 2-4 DMRs in the game, so u can strike back at that person with the same gun & see how they like it!!

i make alot of small & packed maps with weapon placements instead of weapon drops in forge, the maps haves all halo 4 weapons in it, rocket launchers & snipers all in the centre with normal weapons identically in the same position as the opposite base, like both teams have 6 BRs & 4 DMRs, so they cant complain bout anythin unbalance, both teams have equal assess to the weapons

the DMR has a faster kill time then the BR along with less recoil and capable of longer range

its kill time is nearly identical to a assault rifle in close assuming player open up at the same time (which rarely happens)

in fact the only situation aside from playstyle that the BR beats the DMR is in swat lol

I think the DMR works fine as it is - sure, it's very powerful at range, but then it's supposed to be. At close range, it's basically worthless - get right up to them with an Assault Rifle or Storm Rifle and they're VERY easy to overpower. If you don't have anything automatic, just stay indoors or out of their line of sight, and you should be fine.

Plus, if the person using the DMR isn't a good shot, it's pretty much worthless due to the weaker aim assist than in Reach. It's basically a much higher risk/reward version of the Battle Rifle: and if someone is good enough to use it at peak effectiveness, they should get rewarded with fast kill times.

This. I've honestly been preaching this all along. If people will close-range weapons will adjust their playstyle to be more CQC, they'll outgun almost everyone with a DMR.
