  1. Herro one and welcome to the latest smashup! Article one: Red Fly wants to re-pitch the cancelled Darth Maul game In a spark of good news this week, Red Fly Studio is looking to try and reboot the cancelled Darth Maul game. Previously Red Fly worked on the Wii version of the Force Unleashed 2. After that they were contracted by Lucas Arts to start working on a Darth Maul game. The game reached the early stages of development but what scrapped due to the Disney takeover of Star Wars. But recently during a Reddit AMA, Red Fly developer Dan Borth answered some very interesting questions regarding the project. According to Borth, Red Fly is working on a “next gen” demo of the game to pitch to Electronic Arts. “We have been burning a candle for this game since it was killed and we hope we can get it turned back on again. If that is to happen, we need to approach EA with a demo that will impress them. I think we have that or are close to it. Still it is completely not up to us.” According to Borth, the game will see a young Darth Maul aged between “9 or 11” through to adulthood and before the events of The Phantom Menace. “We wanted to show what he went through to become a Sith,” Borth stated. “Showcase the torture The Emperor put him through. Show how you as the player would have made the same mistakes and ended up a Sith. Playing as a young Maul you would hopefully make the player feel his pain and rage as he was brutally exposed day by day by The Emperor.” So it looks like the Darth Maul game, is not so dead after all. Article two: Assassins Creed Syndicate had the worst series launch in the series history Recently the latest entry in the Assassins Creed series, Syndicate was released, but despite topping charts, it was later revealed that the latest entry in the series had the worst launch in the franchises history. The main downward spiral in sales comes surprisingly from the Uk. (Where the game is set) In fact, the only major Assassins Creed it has beaten is the last gen exclusive Assassins Creed Rouge. Even the original Assassins Creed beat the sales numbers of Syndicate despite being an unproven IP. But keep in mind the charts do not include digital sales or the Pc version. Though the results so far do not show a promising result so far for Assassin Creed Syndicate. Article three: A 103 Year-Old Titanic Cracker Sells for $23,000 (Now, this is not exactly gaming related, but it did give me a good laugh so it earns its place in this week’s smashup) A 103 year old cracker that was originally part of a lifeboat survival kit has sold for £23,000. James Fenwick, a passenger onboard the SS Carpathia, which aided the rescue efforts of the doomed ocean liner, the Titanic. During this time he retrieved the cracker from one of the survival kits. Auctioneer Andrew Aldridge had this to say on the matter "It is incredible that this biscuit has survived such a dramatic event." And that about wraps this weeks smashup, thanks for reading! 2. Well you could always watch it on Youtube. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bdcJcnJeUdo < Link to episode 2.
  3. For some reason during the mission screenshot from Halo 5 you showed, that mission has been having some weird texture problems. Such as what you showed. Trust me when everything is working properly that Scorpion looks much better than Halo 3.
  4. But there is plenty of new things. New gametypes such as Breakout or Warzone. New weapons such as the SMG as well as the Prophets Bane. Spartans have new abilities, such as the ground pound or the sidestep. And all future multiplayer maps are free. (No paid dlc) So you should at least give the multiplayer a shot and try the campaign on a harder difficulty.
  5. Check out this forum's Spartan Company and sign up if you are interested. http://www.343industries.org/forum/topic/41775-343i-community-forum-spartan-company/?view=getnewpost
  6. That's because of 60fps. With the game running at 60fps at all times, the blam engine has been upgraded to have a dynamic resolution and framerate. Problem is that resolution is janky as hell. Look at this video to fully understand what I mean: https://youtu.be/-gQMulb6T2o You can see that shadow effects, smoke effects etc as done at a lower resolution to avoid buffing the framerate. Textures also suffer depending on how far away you are and they change jarringly. We also have animations suffering at lower framerates. So you could have a Grunt shooting at you at 30fps. But you are firing back at 60fps. It just looks odd. Plus the ground textures are disgusting. The point is the game's engine is not designed for this so everything has a rough edge.
  7. Then you might want to check out this forum's own Spartan Company. http://www.343industries.org/forum/topic/41775-343i-community-forum-spartan-company/?view=getnewpost
  9. Well there was as promised, 15 missions. 343 just did not specify how long those missions were.
  10. To carry on about what Spartan was saying.... To me its honestly quantity rather than quantity. Look at me playing Mgs v Gz, the game is quality, yet short. But I got far more hours and good memories might I add out of that game than something like GTA V. Or Mgs 3 Snake Eater. The game takes 15 hours to complete. But it in my top ten games of all time list because of the quality of everything. Overall I have probably put over 60 hours into the game overall. And that is more than I can say for something like the Mad Max game. That game has hundred of hours of content. But yet that hardly means anything because its quantity over quality. My point is you can get far more hours out of a game that is quality rather than something that is not. And even if you cannot your memories of the game stick with you far longer than a game that is mainly quantity. I still think about the good memories I have from the Halo 4 Campaign even now because the campaign is so well made, despite its short length and despite the fact I have not played it for three years. Can I say the same for something like Mad Max? The game I played recently? Nope. And from what I have seen the gameplay of Halo 5 is quality and ripe with replaybailty and you may get more hours out of it than other fps games because of the replay value and quality gameplay. And as Red says, it does not hurt to try legendary mode.
  11. Patch in splitscreen? That's simply not Impossible. Because the whole game is built around 60fps. Adding in splitscreen would bring it down to around 30fps. Making the game unplayable because the entire engine they are using is built around 60fps. Now you may ask, but you can do online co-op. And I answer: You can but that's because it supported by 343's servers. I still hope splitscreen is in Halo 6 though. I would much prefer splitscreen and 30fps over no splitscreen and 60fps.
  12. Come on, 99.9 percent of triple A games these days come out with day one patches. Its pretty much become standard at this point and should be expected. And besides the patch is fixing a bunch of bugs so I don't see what the problem is?
  13. In Halo escalation issue six at the end you can see a single flood spore in the Spirit of Fire, and there is still flood on the Halo rings. As said in Halo 3 "A single flood spore can destroy a species" So you are right Bnus, its not over yet.
  14. If you want and invite to the Halo 5 spoiler pm, just say so in this status updates comments!

  15. I think someone from 343 confirmed a while back aside from the Gravity Hammer, once again Brutes are not returning. Maybe Halo 6?
  16. Its only one day left until the big day is here! (If that) So get ready for the next semi weekly site poll. With Halo 5 so close to release. (or it might actually be released right now depending on your timezone or when you read this) This is the most relevant question I could ever ask right now. What are your first impressions of Halo 5 Guardians? Do you like the campaign? Is the multiplayer up to snuff? What about weapons, do they feel right? Let me know what you think about the next addition to the Halo franchise? But obviously do not put story spoilers or specific details on missions. And that's a wrap folks and Thanks for reading. As usual "Voting" endings on November 2nd If you have any suggestions or criticism, feel free to pm me.
  17. Well they did what was promised, it was just harder to get than initially thought. Btw this is not the official 343 site, this a community forum run by..... well, the Halo community, no 343 staff are here as far as we know so your best bet is to go to Halo Waypoint ( their official site ) and find out. Yet I do insist you stay around!
  18. "They clearly don't enjoy Halo TOO much if they're not a fan of the core formula that defined Halo to begin with, and want major aspects of the formula to be completely abandoned" How about you firstly stop making assumptions about people and accept that some people like Halo Reach and Halo 4 because to be honest, they are not that bad. Okay the Forge in Halo 4 was pretty bad and the weapons were a bit hit and miss but it still played well after they had that massive weapons update and the Boltshot was nerfed. "But no, they're clearly not happy with it because they want a major aspect of the formula to be completely abandoned" You claim your not a purist but that seals it! You make the assumption that since people actually like Sprint they must not be, "true Halo fans" but that's just bs. We had the same stuff with Star Wars "If you don't like the prequels your now a true fan" Well you know what? People can have opinions and some people might actually like sprint and think it makes Halo better? People are allowed to have other opinions, and its not as if making you move faster changes a whole lot when it comes down to it. By the way there is no need for an IP just to appease those who like Halo 4/Reach. Because there is no place for it in the current market! It would be a waste of money and manpower. "By making the game fast paced you completely abandon one of the major aspects of Halo" Its speeds up the rate you find engagements, I don't care what you say, that's all it does and that is hardly a bad thing. It also hardly makes the game faster paced. Its not like their making guns fire faster or lowering how much shields you have or making maps much small, something that would actually make the game more fast paced. "•Gunplay has heavy emphasis on tight precision" Well lets think here, flinch violate this principle. If you got shot with enough skill and the right weapon you could still win the firefight. But with flinch, your screwed even more and it takes even more skill to compensate and considering how fast firefights can go, your probably dead because of flinch unless you ran. By the way one of your core principles "arena shooter" its a broad term that does not even mean anything because everyone has their own interpretation. Which leads into my next point. Everyone has their own interpretation of Halo's core principles, your opinion is not law. The ranking system isn't a core aspect of the gameplay itself" No, but its a huge driving force for some people (self included) to keep playing. And once again I'm not replying to the rest because its not relevant. Because were supposed to be discussing sprint, not personally attacking one another at the ends of posts about how our debating skills suck or out arguments suck, etc.
  19. "did you do? You repeated yourself by bringing up how sprint penalizes players in the middle of combat engagement" Actually I responded to your first point at the end. So go read the end again. "Not just to make Halo purists happy, it's to appeal to both sides. This way Halo maintain its unique identity while the other side still gets the type of game they want" But they also want to play Halo too. You have to cater for both sides! "There's no actual REASON to abandon the Halo formula" I hardly see how sprint abandons it? I have said this a lot but I'm saying this again, your making this bigger than it actually is. Sprint makes you move, faster and make the game a bit more faster paced, speeding up the rate you find engagement's. That's it? Flinch, Thruster, clamber, visible power weapons? You have nothing negative to say about that? But something that makes you move faster? That breaks the Halo formula?! Not really. "In addition, you keep calling me a purist, when in all honesty, Halo's not even my favorite shooter franchise" Yes because you cannot seem to accept that some people might like Halo 4 and Reach and the series needs to have a middeground. Maybe that term does not entirely fit you because you accept other changes, but since you accepted all those I really don't think this is worth arguing about. "offer the different gameplay style that they enjoy." But they enjoy Halo games! "Again, Halo was never a fast-paced game, it was a slower-paced alternative" Sprint hardly makes the whole game entirely fast paced. "Also, if you're going say that Halo 2/3's core formula was plenty bad, then actually go in depth and explain your argument in detail. Again, an argument doesn't really have any credibility if you don't go to the lengths to explain the reasoning behind the claim. That's just debating in general, that applies to anyone and anything, it's just one of the basic rules of debates." I did not go into detail because it wasn't necessary. You even did a similar thing a few posts back. You said the game was perfect and I briefly objected. http://www.343industries.org/forum/topic/41650-343-just-doesnt-get-it-1-50-ranking-made-halo/ Go read the first post by Azaxx, he puts it into words far better than I ever could or care to. "once again ignoring my points, I see." How about you stop making assumptions?! "Classic Halo's maps were mostly accommodated for the lack of sprint, you never really had to walk a mile to find the next target" See that's hypocritical. You said that map navigation was a big thing and was half the game but then its almost brushed off sarcastically. I'm not going to comment on the rest of the stuff because its not relevant.
  20. For once I can agree with you there. A rocket launcher if you play it right is really easy to get kills. Someone shoots you? Blow them away. Only people really far away with snipers or something like that pose a threat. Otherwise its four really easy kills.
