  1. I have been reading a lot of posts like these that are absolutely brilliant ideas, however, I have to disagree with them for the simple reason that we need to remember that overly complicated weapons/vehicles/armor abilties may just over-complicate the game and overtax the system. As awesome as it would be to have something like what was suggested below (and in other great posts), it is important to keep the game somewhat simple. Can you imagine the glitches some of these ideas would cause? It's bad enough when two people try to swing a gravity hammer at each other when there's a bad connection. I do enjoy reading these incredibly creative ideas, however, so please keep them coming. P.S. I appreciate the creative ideas and criticism from people in this thread. I've seen to many posts from people everywhere else that hate on Halo 4 just because its different from older games. XD That's funny. I've often thought about that myself (being that I am left-handed). It's just one of those little arbitrary details that the developers decided wasn't worth the extra programming. As I posted before, it's better on the system to not over complicate things. Great point, though.
  2. In my opinion, the Falcon is too bulky and difficult to maneuver to be an effective matchmaking vehicle, I absolutely loved the hornet from Halo 3 and would really like to see at least that one brought back. It is smaller and easier to handle, therefore making it comparable in abilities to the banshee. I agree that the sticky detonator is a flawed weapon. What it is is basically a combination of the grenade launcher and the plasma launcher from Halo Reach. I really liked the grenade launcher and I feel they should bring it back as a power weapon for Halo 5. If 343 and Halo fans want a weapon that can strategically place grenades on walls, then 343 should bring back the spike grenades from Halo 3. Spike grenades could be purchased as a loadout weapon and would allow for players to have that strategic stick ability in a more involved and mobile way.
  3. Thank you for pointing me in that direction. I will check it out.
  4. I have already discussed the idea of bringing back the trip mine and incendiary grenades in another thread. I think having the option to purchase two incendiary grenades or 1 trip mine as grenade loadout options. Also, the flare could be brought back as a secondary weapon option. It could have three rounds, and the ability for the flare to take out shields as well as blind those near it to make up for the fact that it does no damage. I want to see equipment from Halo three brought back as much as possible so please send ideas. Also, they should definitely return the Hornet for a UNSC flying vehicle. I never really liked the Falcon. Halo needs a UNSC flying vehicle for matchmaking and custom games. Please bring back the chopper as well. That beast of a vehicle was my favorite in all three games. As far as Forerunner vehicles, I will keep thinking.
  5. Maybe instead of just ODST teams, you could choose to be a part of a covenant team, or a flood team, or a promethean team... The planet doesn't necessarily have to be uninhabited. This would add more dynamic elements and better reason for team conflicts. This almost is beginning to sound like an upgrade to Halo Wars.
  6. I really like your open map survival mode Idea. However, I do agree that it would be very hard to install and even harder to maintain. How would they keep track of the days that you are marooned? Would it be real time? Or would it be in-game waves? If real time, then that might not work well for online co-op, which would be an awesome feature. It almost sounds to me that you could turn that into an entirely new game. Maybe 343 could experiment gaming in that genre like they did with the "Command and Conquer" genre that they tested in Halo Wars. It would be like the Elder Scrolls games, or Fallout, but as a Halo game with its own unique storyline. However if it were its own game, there might not be enough plot elements or storylines to justify it. Probably it should just stay as a game type. Great idea, though. Love it.
  7. I noticed above it was stated that this isn't the official 343 forum. Would someone be able to point me in that direction? I would love to be a part of both. I would greatly appreciate it.
  8. Thanks guys. BTW, I love Caboose.
  9. One thing for sure that they need to bring back is firefight. Don't get me wrong, I like spartan ops, but it's a completely different feel than firefight. Spartan Ops is more like and extended campaign for your Infinity Spartan. Firefight would be another training option similar to War Games. Also, both Saprtan Ops and Firefight should be playable offline in the new Halos. This is speaking as someone who rarely has access to high speed internet, so leveling up is basically reduced to forge and custom games because they took out gaining experience from campaign. The way I see it, if you are able to download Spartan Ops, which we are, you should be able to play it offline. If we are talking about weapons and vehicles than I have some ideas. I've already posted in another thread that the weapon loadouts need more variables. Assault Rifle/Storm Rifle/Suppressor there isn't a lot of difference. What I think 343 could do is expand upon these options like they did by putting both the BR and the DMR as options. The BR has better accuracy up close, where as the DMR has better accuracy for long shots. And the carbine has great medium accuracy while having the ability to shoot rapidly. This adds lots of appeals to specializing your loadout based on your play style. What I want to see done is for 343 to bring back the SMG (possibly the ODST scoped one, but that might be overpowered) and the plasma rifle as primary loadout options. The SMG could compliment the AR by being more powerful but less accurate, and the plasma rifle could compliment the Storm rifle by being less powerful but more accurate. This would give players the ability to better define exactly what playstyle they prefer. i think this is what they tried to do by complimenting the AR with the storm rifle, but those two guns are in two different classes because typically UNSC weapons are better at damaging health, while covenant weapons are better at removing shields. Implementing the loadouts i suggested would give players the ability to chose between these compliments while also choosing between focusing on shield damage or health damage. Also, the brute weapons need to be returned. They are dearly missed. The brute shot, in my opinion, should reclaim its place over the concussion rifle as an ordinance drop weapon. The mauler could possibly be a secondary weapon loadout option, and the incendiary and spike grenades definitely need to be granade loadout options. These need to be brought back. Also, I watched a video today on Youtube where they talked about wanting to bring back the flamethrower and the trip mine. YES YES YES. The trip mine was one of my favorite pieces of equipment from Halo 3. I think it would be a better used weapon than the sticky detonater. What 343 should do is replace the sticky detonator with the granade launcher form Reach, and then bring back the trip mine. Trying to combine these two weapons into the sticky detonator was a good idea, but I just don't think it worked very well. In my case at least, trying to use the sticky detonator to rig traps in hallways led to too much sitting around waiting for someone to come by so i could detonate the trap, and the weapon never works well for me when I try to attack someone with it. The grenade launcher as an ordinance drop would work much better in combat situations and the trip mine as a greanade loadout option would work much better for trap situations. Of course, I think that if this were to happen, the loadout should only give you the ability to start with one trip mine, similar to the promethean grenade, because of the high damaging power it has. In the original post, you asked for a promethean turret idea? I don't know if this will be liked or not, but I loved the missile pod from Halo 3. What if 343 combine the missle pod concept with the plasma launcher from Halo Reach and made it a Forerunner weapon? It could fire high powered explosive hardlight projectiles that could have a limited ability to track targets, and possibly stick. Though the sticking portion could be over powered. I feel a weapon like this would fit well into the story because it sounds like a weapon that the Forerunners would have loved to have when mowing down huge waves of flood. I would love to read your thoughts about this. I just thought of something great! What if there was a turret mounted zippo gun? Similar to a flamethrower, but instead of shooting a stream of fire, it shoots heave globs of, well, napalm that stick to players and vehicles. These shots would have a slow firing rate and a high damage along with lighting the target on fire. Please tell me your thoughts.
  10. Hello Halo community. I am Captain Napalm and I am very excited to be a part of this. I love Halo, the story, the universe, the support and fanbase, and the concern that 343 and Bungie have had for their fans. Part of the reason I joined this community was because I knew that 343 takes input from their followers into account when building the games and I wanted to be a part of the production system. I have searched around a little already and read some very interesting and genius ideas already. I can't wait to see what everyone has to offer and maybe submit some great ideas of my own. Thank you for welcoming me into this community. -Captain Napalm (I light you on fire!!!)
  11. Hey you've got some great ideas. The SMG is a weapon I dearly miss from Halo 3, and the scoped SMG from ODST was really awesome. Although it may be overpowered in matchmaking. I think they should at least put the regular SMG as a primary weapon loadout option. Also, I love the storm rifle, but you're absolutely right in saying they should bring back the plasma rifle. It was one of the few original Halo weapons and one of my all time favorites. Maybe they can put it in as a primary loadout also, making it slightly less powerful than the storm rifle, but much more accurate. Additions like these would add more variety to the loadout options, and do a better job at specializing to players' specific playstyles and preferences. A player who prefers damage over accuracy, for example would choose the storm rifle, and a player who prefers accuracy over damage would choose the plasma rifle. This is definitely something 343 needs to think about. Your ideas about improving the AI engine are genious. Anything that could make the characters as lifelike as possible would be great. Maybe even, and this might be going too far, putting individual personaliies into the engine. For example, some grunts are cowards and more likely to flee, or some are more hardened and choose to stand until the bitter end. This would better simulate reality as well, rather than all AIs being programmed to react to situations in the same manner. I just registered with the 343 forum community, and I look forward to reading more awesome ideas from people such as yourself. Can't wait to explore further. Keep the ideas flowing!
