Save File Semi-Erasing Glitch

Ok, I am all kinds of pissed right now, so excuse any errors in my typing....

 

So just about 20 minutes ago I lost all of my co-op save file history and 3 library entries (essentially everything I have done since first playing co-op). I will lay out the steps that occurred prior to this glitch so that 343i or any foolish person can find if this is isolated or a problem with the game.

 

[Prelude Info]: First off, my save file prior to playing co-op online (ie, how it now looks) had all levels completed 'Solo' on 'Normal' with 42/45 'Library' items analysed. I then proceeded to play 'Co-Op' 'Legendary' with a friend over the last week or so. We completed it several hours ago. I had 2 achievements left to complete, so I figured I would do them at this point "on my own". I wanted to get the "He's Unstoppable" achievement, so I was going to have my girlfriend sign in to play the first while I just hung back....

 

[steps]

1. Turned on Xbox 360, signed in, loaded game, selected HDD save location

2. Turned on 2nd controller, signed in 2nd profile, selected HDD save location

3. Selected Campaign, only saw my profile listed

4. Backed out to main menu, signed off 2nd profile.

5. Selected Campaign, was prompted to sign in, but only 1st controller was active to select the requested "sign in" button, oddly signed in again with same profile on same controller..., asked to select save location, selected HDD.

 

At this point I instantly noticed something was wrong. My previous default level select was 'The Maw', 'Legendary', '4 Skulls On' and at this moment (and from then on) the default showed 'The Pillar of Autumn', 'Normal', '1 Skull On'

 

Mission Select now shows that I have never played 'Co-Op' on any levels, and my library no longer displays the 3 missing entries I analysed while playing Co-Op with my friend.

Maybe your hard drive isn't hooked on all the way. If it isn't, it's most likely in the back where you should push down until you hear a click. Hope your problem gets resolved!

I completed HCE-A solo campaign on normal, then completed it co-op on normal with my son. We then went for legendary campaign co-op. Having resigned ourselves to the mammoth task when we realised you have to complete an entire mission before saving and quiting or have to start the mission all over again (oh yes you do folks despite others suggesting you don't, been there and ripped the tee-shirt) we progressed through the missions. Over two consecutive weekends (and so many lost hours) we quit and saved and turned the console off eventually completed the Library and gave up 90 minutes into Two Betrayals when we repeatedly got destroyed by the flood immeadiately after wiping them out and disrupting the pulse generator (they just suddenly appeared on top of us). This weekend (having taken a two week vacation) we set ourselves up for finishing the co-op legendary campaign, fully expecting to start again at the beginning of Two Betrayals.

 

All our history was gone, no solo campaign completed on normal history, no co-op campaign completed on normal and no legendary up to Two Betrayals. My son (8 yrs old) and I (48 yrs old) were in TEARS! and he learned some new colorfull language! Our gamer achievements still show that we had completed the campaign, and acknowledge we had completed a mssion on legendary!

 

I have seen many other posts on other sites, this is a real and devastating bug. My son and I aren't the greatest gamers in the world and it was a LEGENDARY achievement to get to the last three missions, 343i - A Response please.

 

We duly started the co-op campaign on Legendary again and tore through the first 3 missions, but we cannot face hitting this bug again so have decided to put our energies into MW3, tainting our anticipation of H4!!

I know that i lost a load of saves when i chose the wrong device to save to, then the game auto saved and i lost 95% of my game saves for some reason.
