No more "Call of Halo"

Dear 343,

I hope everyone takes this as constructive criticism.

Here is my issue with the last two Halo games (one of which 343 didn't even create)

It seems that Halo is trying to tap into the CoD crowd by changing the game to have similarities and in doing so have really downgraded the online gaming experience the original Halo versions had offered. Halo 2/3 were genuine and had originality, now you have this mentality of specializations and lost the true competitive gaming Halo had in the past. I nearly jumped out of my chair when I saw the update of CSR 343 launched just recently. I called all my close friends who stopped playing Halo due to the loss of the "Halo identity". This is a fantastic step to reviving the purist aspect of the original Halo spirit, but it's still not enough. In the past I would play Call of Duty for that type of gaming experience and would also play Halo for a different (better) gaming experience. With the recent changes the games are to similar with Halo being a poor mans version of CoD. I find myself being nostalgic when I think back on how much fun it was to watch your ranking increase/decrease after every ranked game you played in Halo 2/3, having three or more close friends playing competitively and coming up with new strategies to try and collectively raise our ranking. Halo 2 rewarded skill, Halo 4 rewards everyone who puts in hours of game play which gives off a mentality of "everyone gets a medal" rather than the game being "elite".

I think the CSR update was a great step for Halo's identity revival. I really hope there are more changes to come where you don't have to go online or to Waypoint to see a persons CSR.

Halo 4 is a great FPS, it's just not a great Halo game. Halo has always held such high standards.  Don't get me wrong, I really like Halo 4, it's just not on par with other Halos. 343 is still a baby company.  They have made plenty of mistakes, but it shows that they do care because they're trying to fix those mistakes.

I agree to the Halo 4 being COD like but Reach, Reach (I thought) was a prime example of what Halo is. But it may not be I just have a soft spot in my heart for Reach, guess its cause it was my first Halo game.

it was far from my first, been there since the veeeeeery beginning, but Reach is my favorite for multiplayer experience of the lot.

I loved how they had social and ranked play lists in the past games. You could get the best of both worlds to be able to practice and hone your skills in social then play competitively in ranked with other people who wanted to have a competitive gaming experience. I am not sure on the numbers, but when I get online and see less than 100k playing online that's not a lot at all. Reach at least had "arena" which was competitive with iron, bronze, silver, gold, and onyx.

Im also happy that Halo 4 has been updated with the new ranking system and also the new weapon balancing on next monday.

But comparing halo with CoD is like saying every war game is CoD, yes I know that all these new tactical packeges and armor uppgrades are new and similar to other games, but new games needs new ideas and development, if not they are exact the same as the old games, like cod....

343i was helping bungie to make the first trilogy so I do belive in them that they know what they are doing, they have experience and most of the misstakes they made in the beginning are being/have been fixed in updates.

Ofcourse there are always things to complain about, so was there in halo 3 and every other halo too, Just give 343 some time and youll see that the new trilogy will be the best halos of all time.

not that im a psychologist or anything but from experience i can tell that for some poeple the best halo will always be the one they played first, for them its the "original" halo.

GEARS OF HALO THEFT AUTO 4!

Seriously, it seems the FPS industry, as a while is going to the c*****r right now, Halo seems to be getting better. If anything, is say CoD looks like its going towards halo (future setting, camo, wrist grenade launchers? And all the future tech) and many of my friends agree with this.

Who has seen GEARS OF HALO THEFT AUTO 4 on YouTube btw?

 No more Call of Halo

Actually, you can sum this up in two statements.

Businesses compete for the same customers; Call of Duty's creators have a paramount quantity of customers buying from them.

343i do not care for making their work original, fresh and new. They care for only their success and money pouring out of every hole in the CEO's body (Or highest-status EO).

I'm not saying that Halo 4 is bad or 343i are just like a cloned EA that plays fetch with an uranium bar until cloned EA (343i) are mutated enough to just listen to fans.

Well, the second bit. Kind of.

Halo 4 is still a good game, the direction of most main-stream FPS games must be considered; fast pace with more player-variables to change outcomes of combat.

343i, being a division of Microsoft (I think "division" is the most accurate word, correct if wrong), has an intention of gaining a big customer base.

Why? Microsoft games. It is likely that a large Halo-fan base will mean people will be interested in other Microsoft games.

Although this may not be an intention, you devalue one item's qualities to give it astronomical value of coin.

Let's get real people if the older games are so great why did you move on? It's like you are saying you dumped a beautiful girl and now the one you are with displeases you. If the one you really is amazing as you say it is just stay there while the rest of us move onto the future.

because  of how bad those servers are?

Those servers are down I believe, believe me I have tried putting my old Halo 2 in to play online and got nothing (or I would still be playing that)

You cannot argue with the amount of people online, its midnight mountain standard time so its kind of late... kind of. But there are a total of 12,500 people playing online! that is ridiculously low! During prime hours there are maybe double that amount. Comparing that to Halo 2 would be just the ranked slayer playlist.

People that don't say this game is a total flop in regards to its online playing community please tell me why the significant decline in numbers? Halo 2 was out the same time as CoD and it had quadruple the amount of online players this game does

So I played halo 4 last night, then played black ops 2.

They are still a very different experience. And a small handful of features halo has "adopted" like sprint and loadout selection makes almost zero difference to that.

The level of customisation in COD is insane, and it forms a big part of the game. In halo the tactical and support upgrades don't make nearly as much difference. Sure it is a few steps down the same road but that does not wipe out glaring differences in gameplay and feel.
