Murphy couldn't help himself in battle, slaughtering grunts and jackels was too much fun.

"Ahahaha!"

He gunned down more grunts who were cowering.

"Keep a day job buddy!"

He engaged several more forces until he came upon two brutes, the last hostiles he could see.

It was a longer fight he anticpated which ended in hand to hand combat.

He drew his knife from the bigger ones skull and cleaned his blood off his wrist plate.

"Good night ladies!"

He then listened for anymore sounds of terror and several radio reports came in.

"What's everyones status, over?"

The Minutes to Midnight was in the air. Pelicans and boarding parties were already in the transports. And some Spartans were even using EVA thruster packs to fend off Ranger Elites.

"7 klicks and counting"

James went to the bridges armoury, he crabbed an MA5B assault rifle. It was an older model, but its 60 round magazine and low spread made it ideal for close-quarters combat. He saw some surprised looks from several officers as to why he was wielding an assault rifle. This time, he had lost too many men. The crew knew to the second what their orders were, he wouldn't need to be there. He may as well give some support in taking back the bridge, get Infinitys outer defended online as soon as possible. He put the rifle leaning against a wall and went to an officer.

"I want that Pelican out of the hangar as soon as Jacob reports the all clear. Got it?"

"Uh... Yes sir." Replied the officer.

He made his way to the hangar where the Pelican he had commissioned especially for Hazard Squad. He got in the co-pilots seat, the pilot knew he was coming so no argument.

"Get engines on, we need to be out as soon as there is clearance, once we have picked up Hazard, go straight to Infinitys central hangar."

"Yes sir"

Docked in the same hangar was another Pelican, this one containing the Infinitys surviving bridge crew. The Sabres docked in the launch bays topside would be the fighter escort for the Pelican.

"Hazard 1-3, this is Hazard Actual, Spartan Bauer's Distress signal just lit up, We're moving to assist. Rendezvous at his location, and be ready for a fight on the way in. How copy?"

Ty checked His AR's screen and thumb in Bauers ID number. the compass now pointed in his direction.

"Logan! Out of the tree, we're moving out."

"You got it boss!"

Logan dropped straight down, rolled and landed on his feet.

"Hello there!" He joked.

"Show off..."

They moved toward Bauer's position.

Bauer slowly opened his eye's just in time to see multiple Elites, equipped with energy swords moving in on his position..

His distress signal had obviously alerted them too...

Bauer got up as quickly as possible and knocked the first elite off his feet and snapped the second elites neck, taking the energy sword in hand..

"Heh..six..no seven of you?.......bring it on..."

The elites lunged at him and Bauer fought them off as best he could, striking several of them down in the process....

Jacob ran for the nearest covenant building. He ran into it, charged an elite like an offensive lineman, and kept going. The elite went through the wall. He got to the roof, and took a banshee from two brutes guarding it.

"Ok, we'll make it..." He began saying as two banshees began their pursuit. He did a barrel roll, dodging two fuel rod shots. He did a back flip, getting behind the banshees. He was close enough to hit one with a fuel rod blast before they both rolled. The other one flipped and fired at Jacob, damaging Jacobs banshee. Jacob hit it with a fuel rod and finished it off, but his banshee might not survive another hit. He saw the midnight. He also saw five banshees coming out of the cove area.

"Jacob to midnight, I've got banshees on my six, need assistance." He said over the coms as he dodged another fuel rod blast.

"Hazard 1-3 respond!" Ty yelled into his comm. "Damn it. Radiations burning out our Comms too."

Ty and Logan had reached Bauer's position.

"Logan, That hovering... tower.... thingy. Take up an Overwatch position on it."

"well, that was eloquent. I'm on it."

Logan jogged off. Ty moved around a Covie storage crate to see Bauer facing down a group of elite wielding swords. He shrunk down behind the crate.

"Damn it.... Why'd it have to be swords?"

Ty took a deep breath, drew his pistol, and fired a shot into the closest elites head, killing it instantly.

"I can't believe I made that shot! Oh crap..."

3 of the elites turned around. Ty dropped behind the crate again.

"Oh crap oh crap oh crap! Please don't come over here... Not with swords... no no no no...."

Bauer used the distraction to slice open the closest Elite and rammed teh sword into the gut of the second closest Elite.

2 Elites started running at Ty's position...so Bauer ran up behind and cut one of the Elites head clean off.

the last Elite knocked the crate out of the way and knocked Ty Down...bringing up his sword ready to strike....

Bauer's energy sword was out of charge...so he grabbed the elite by the throat and crushed it in..killing him instantly....

Bauer grabbed Ty by the chest plate and lifted him up...

"Thanks for the help Ty"

Bauer was bleeding from the head badly and his armour was sliced and battered...blood seemed to paint it both Red and purple...

The Pelican lifted out of the hangar bay."Jacob, we have a Pelican on the way for some fire support, it's a gunship model. Once the Banshees are clear, try to get out on the top so you can climb down to the turrets. Copy that?" The Gunship gained sight of the fighters. James pulled up the controls for the HE turret mounted on the top, he began to fire. The fighters were downed literally seconds after they were in range and the Pelican hovered in the air.

[seems I missed all the fun too. Screw you, Time Zones.]

Soto's gun hadn't been fired all day, though from the sights and sounds through her scope she could hardly say it was a good day. When everyone else was firing it typically called for an implied "fire at will" order, but seeing as she and Fuchs were tasked with covering their exit plan they couldn't break cover. The cackles of static made it less comforting for the both of them to keep quiet.

"Screw it," Fuchs switched off his binocs and stuffed them in his rucksack. Then, with a startled Ashley trailing his frantic movement with her eyes, he rolled to one side to fit the pack's straps on and took up his BR85. "I'm gonna regroup with them. We still have them on IFF."

Concern washed over Ashley's face as she went to safety her DMR. "Who's gonna cover the exit then?"

Fuchs managed to stop her from packing up her rig by placing a hand over the weapon's upper, then, assuringly, he patted her on the helmet. "You're dependable enough."

A few minutes later, Fuchs had zeroed in on Hazard Actual's location. It was an easy task granted the direction of gunfire and trail of bodies. He ducked low behind a crate as he heard voices, listening intently to rule out the possibility of alien tongues. Convinced that the voice belonged to Hazard's team leader, he announced his presence on comms.

"Friendly comin' in. Check fire to your west." He gave a subtle wave, a notable expression in the dark for anyone using image enhancements.

"Heh, look what the cat dragged in! Where you coming from then?"

He re-checked his gear and ammo supply. He was down to a single drum of ammo for his SAW. He holstered it and drew his knife and pistol, wielding them together. He was low on grenades too.

"Toss me a frag if you can spare it. Don't suppose the LZ is filled with bullets?"

Fuchs grumbled quietly to himself as he revealed his presence entirely, slowly advancing with his weapon ready-low and his figure hunched tight. "Keep you voice down," he hissed, taking up a kneel beside the formation. Upon request, the rucksack came off of his back, centered among the group, and Arnold began distributing his ammunition surplus. "I broke contact with our original extraction point when comms started acting up--"

He was cut off by the roar of Pelican thrusters as the evac bird loomed overhead, slowly descending to their location. "But since it's here now...I left our shooter to cover the LZ. If we go back to pick her up, we'll probably just end up leading the rest of the covvies out here back to her and we risk losing everyone."

Midnight activated her cloaking systems, the deck guns unveiled them selves as Archer pods readied their missiles. Three CCS class battlecruisers continued a patrol around the Adrift vessel.

"This is Midnight to Hazard Actual- we are in position and ready to strike the enemy, waiting on your command."
