really REALLY needs to go. A handheld power weapon that trumps sword and scattershot has NO place in the starting loadouts. Not to mention it is in essence better than a scattershot cause u can get clean up head shots if need be. This gun needs SERIOUS rethinking.

To be honest, in all of my playtime in Halo 4 I have been frustruated by the Boltshot only one time. Here's the mechanics that balance it out.

 

*Shotgun blast only works just outside of melee range.

*Shotgun blast takes up half a clip of ammo.

*Shotgun blast can only be held for so long. (Makes it far far inferior to a shotgun or scattershot)

*Really not that much more effective than a melee and headshot or a plasma pistol charge and headshot/melee.

The exact points I would of said. I think its one of the more fun weapons. And it actually takes a little skill to know the timing to blast someone's head off

Yeah that's another thing. The way they force you to time your shots if you're planning on ambushing somebody isn't easy at all.

I've been killed at weird ranges with it. Other then that, no problems.

definetly not overpowered

1 shotgun blast has to be right on the guy even a little off, it misses.

2 cant kill outside of melee range, as stated above

3 long charge up time (sort of)

4 regular shots barely take down enemys shield

thats why its not really a power weapon.

The boltshot can be a little annoying and I would dare say that in the right hands it is overpowered. Out of all the standard loadout weapons the boltshot is definitely the most questionable. I have mixed feelings on it- I would agree that maybe it should be tweaked but simultaneously what could you tweak it to, to differentiate it from the plasma pistol?

 

The boltshot is tolerable, barely, and that's about the best thing I have to say about it.

While i dont think it's op i tend to one shot with it more than i do with shotguns maybe it's just luck and i kill frequently slightly outside melle range as well.

Yeah, I've been killed outside of melee range with it as well. Like I said, it's by far the most questionable standard loadout weapon.

It's no where near as bad as Dual-Maulers.

 

And it's harder to pull off than Plasma Pistol Overcharge + Melee in my opinion.

I personally mastered the boltshot and think it is not over-powered.

Why?

 

1. You have to to time your shots.

2. You have to be precise on where you hit

3. Has a 3-4 second delay (to shoot again) after charged shot was used

4. Takes up half a clip per shot

5. Works exclusively up close (aside from regular shots)

 

It's almost no different then "my closing" people. If you don't here the shot or walk right into it, you deserve to get killed from it.

To be honest with you, it's pretty easy to avoid unless caught off guard.

The only time I've had a problem with this thing is when someone is hiding with it and watching the radar to get me off guard. Other then that I don't have much trouble avoiding the shotgun blast. I'm not that good with it though. I don't think it's over powered though at all.
