It's an ethics and warfare thing.

Yes, I'm not blaming those who make the AI's. Politicians and uneducated people are the threats to AI. They would push for regulations and limitations upon the new species and I cannot see for the life of me it not passing in senates across the world, let alone the UN.

That's human nature to do that anyways, we wish to destroy or limit that of what we fear. Humans for the most part are not logical beings and only react when something threatens them or another, which either way impacts them. That's how anything is done, and just the very idea that a superior being would live alongside them, would change how they react dramatically.
