  1. If you really hate RNG then you shouldn't play mass effect 3. I don't complain about it much as I know it could be a lot worse....
  2. I still don't quite understand this perk.... Does it mean you have a larger blast radius but deal less overall damage? Does it mean that you have a larger blast radius and receive less damage from enemy greandes? I really don't know... There hasn't been much confirmation on this as the devs almost never respond to any of the questions that the community asks which really bothers me. I remember that the bungie forums had at least SOME degree of possible response from a dev or two but with 343 it's almost dead silent. Coming from the bioware forums, the halo community sadly doesn't have much support from the devs and there doesn't appear to be much communication at all... I'm just going back to ME since I'm so confused on so many aspects of this game....
  3. Personally, I don't believe in selling games to large vendors... They'll pay like $8 and put it on the shelf for $50. I'm glad that games in the future will go to a digital download so large scale vendors can stop ripping people off. Pertaining to your topic, I probably won't seriously consider it until the game has been out for about a year. After that , I may have to let it go as reach's near impossible meaningless ranking system kept me in it. Looking at h4, I'll probably max out around January if they don't make any new addtions afterwards.
  4. Yes, I realize that is a viable option but my issue is that enemies that I usually kill end up finding me before my shields can even start charging. Also, I'm not too familiar with the shield gate effects with this game so I can't say I would entirely trust the shielding perk.
  5. I really want to enjoy this game but there are some aspects that truely make me wonder why I bother playing sometimes. One of the biggest issues I have is the upped shield regen delay. I loved h3 and reach's multiplayer (although they were very different in some aspects) but h4 has proven to have the longest shield regen delay out there to date in the halo franchise. It just doesn't make sense to me in some aspects as they've added new features to the game that ups the speed of the gameplay in general. 1) Sprint.... Now that it's universal with all loadouts and gamemodes, it speeds up all gameplay drastically... It simply speeds up combat allowing your enemies and yourself to close the gap faster meaning valuable seconds that could mean life and death. Far too often do I end up killing an enemy to only have him spawn, very close to me without giving me a chance for my shields to regen. Of course, skill may be a large factor but the difference in shielding heavilly weighs the odds in favor of the person with more shielding. 2) Spawns... With the introduction of instant spawn, or very fast spawn times, an enemy can easilly spawn in and simply catch up to his last location to finish you off. Of course, this may not be applicable in huge maps and BTB but it influences the number of enemies on the map that could fire off a shot and end your life right before your shielding can regens. 3) This makes prolonged life in any FFA mode much more difficult. To have an entire enemy team on the map trying to kill you is pretty tough but at least you have your team (no matter how incompetent they may be). In FFA everyone is out for your head and having regicide as the only option for FFA (which I presonally love in any FPS) it makes it almost impossible to have sustained killing sprees. Being the king has no benefits... I don't care if it gives me an OS in 30 seconds because I'll be a corpse by then with a dam waypoing that will constantly float over my head. When I spawn, I already get tagged with grenades flying towards my general direction.... I understand 343 is new to the game but I really have to judge some of the decisions they made in the multiplayer aspects. They are new to the game and I'll give them leniency but they either made multiple gameplay oversights or they simply ignored it. Please... Consider including this in a future TU. I don't want shield regen delay to be something crazy like .5 seconds but please consider toning it down to reach or halo 3 levels. P.S: I understand the tactical/support (not sure which one it is) that is the shielding upgrade but I usually get shot in the face before I can get my shielding to even start regenerating. There are also much better options out there in terms of tactical/support perks. If you made it this far, then you have more patience than the standard person and I commend you for reading this wall of text.
  6. If auto aim weren't in the game, wouldn't it be as difficult as trying to betray your own team mate? Auto-aim, as far as I can tell, has always been part of halo.
  7. In halo reach and halo 3 (I think), the radar would distinguish enemies upon multiple elevations by showing them as being slightly faded. I personally enjoyed this as it provided me the opportunity to get a full reading of the battlefield and plot ambushes on players at lower elevations. I don't know why they removed it but I feel like it should return. Anyone else really missing this feature?
  8. I'll agree with you on saying that this halo is the spottiest one when it comes to connection for me. I played reach and 3 perfectly fine in the past with the ocassional "host leaving" screen from time to time but the terrible delay in campaign co-op and spartan ops is just agonizing.... It was a problem in reach's firefight but it wasn't as bad as it is 4....
  9. What's the xp cap again? It seems like I hit it all the time when I'm playing with my friends....
  10. I recall someone comparing this game to a "diamond covered in ****"... So... I guess beneath that "****" there is a solid game. Also, it bothers me a bit that they're already releasing dlc only a month within the game's launch.... The only logical reason for that action must be $$$ for days.... You can blame 343 or microsoft but I just don't see 3 goddam maps being worth $10.... I'll just go back to me3 mp for fun until 343 polishes the game since bioware can release FREE map/character oriented dlc.
  11. Firstly, I want to state that I love this game although I some issues. However, I really like to judge a game through the fluidity of its controls and the ability to customize a few options. In halo 4, I simply hate the current preset button layouts. Firstly, the default button layout feels so... unintuitive (if that's even a word). I'm going to use this example as most halo players will use it (as far as I can tell, which may be incorrect). I think 343 is trying to stick a Cod-esque layout which confuses me quite a bit. I didn't like the default set up in reach so I went with recon as it was the closeset thing in halo 3 which I greatly enjoyed. The problem with default: You stick crouch on the B button which almost requires it to be a toggle-crouch which I don't especially enjoy doing... If you essentially don't stick it to toggle crouch you lose your ability to look around and lose any sense of awareness. This is a minor annoyance of mine which may seem meaningless to some of you but I really find crouch to be pretty important (as ridiculous as it sounds). The problem with recon: As with default, there is a problem with sticking your sprint (which is a HUGE necessity) on the X button. Again, this takes away your ability to look around in the least unless you have two thumbs on your hand... I see such a simple alternative to this... Simply swap reload and sprint. It's such a simple fix... What is the advantage of having sprint on the X button? Why? Why would anyone like this? Why would anyone choose this logically? Every other layout seems like some kind of rip off from the CoD controls which I have no interest in because I want to play Halo.... I might be in the minority on this (which may very well be the case) but I had some trouble adjusting to the button layouts. I doubt 343 will ever see this and this will probably be buried in the multitutde of threads complaining about the AR and the boltshot but please... Consider at least considering what I said...
  12. I think it's due to the lack of the huge maps that it really requires. The biggest thing that disapointed me about halo 4 was the absence of any large forge world-esque map. There isn't much community map makers can really do to be honest. I remember the community made maps that were implemented in reach's Multiplayer and they were absolutely enormous. There simply isn't much room which is quite a shame... Of course, there is the possibility of something massive being introduced in dlc but I'm not a big fan of map packs.
  13. I remember the banshee in halo reach being an utter monster of a vechicle... In halo 3, not so much. I think they reduced some of the mobility of the evasion movements as it was rediculously fast in reach. I remember how the evasions could easilly dodge locked on rockets. Now, I feel like it's where it should be. Also, halo 3's banshee had an extremely small AoE for the banshee bomb with much less damage. Halo 4's is closer to reach's banshee bomb but with a slighly smaller AoE. It's still pretty squishy if you ask me as halo 3's was pretty sturdy but DMR fire can easilly bring the thing down.
  14. Did you enjoy halo 3? I remember how powerful the AR was in that game and it seems like it returned to its former glory in this game. Honestly, the AR was utter garbage in halo reach partly due to the mechanics of the shield gate melee and the fact that you couldn't kill anything in a single clip. I don't know why but I see a lot of complaints about the AR for some reason. It is a close range weapon that rightfully serves its purpose. Realistically speaking, if you were to engage someone in close quarters combat armed with a long to mid range weapon (such as a BR or DMR) wouldn't it make sense that you would simply lose the fight? You allowed your enemy to close the gap and utilize the weapon to its fullest potential. I wouldn't say the AR is the problem at all... Camo is still camo. You can blatantly see when someone close to you is using camo and you have greandes for a reason (if you haven't spammed them away as many people do). There are always alternative solutions to a problem in this game. That's what sets it apart from CoD where you simply point and shoot at people. I hate to say it as it's becoming remarkabley cliche but you simply have to "adapt". Good players will always climatize to their enviroment.
  15. You haven't played halo 3 have you... If you did, you would know exactly how the assault rifle was and why "power weapons" were called power weapons. Personally, I didn't really like reach as I felt it veered off of what halo originally was from halo 2 and 3. Halo 4 feels more like the original essence of Halo and it's done pretty well. It reminds me of all the great times in halo 3 and I'm looking forward to what the community wil do for custom game modes as I recall they were a blast in halo 3.
