  1. You have to watch them in Waypoint. That's one of the criticisms I have of the game. But, that said, they are worth watching imo.
  2. This can't be footage from Halo 4. According to every post on these forums, Halo 4 consists of using nothing but the BR or DMR, there's never any close combat, melee never happens, it's much too easy to get killed, the game is never competitive, it's unbalanced, and the graphics are horrible compared to Halo 3. This can't be Halo 4.
  3. I will admit.. the other options would feel cliche and cheap. Which now increases my fear and sadness because
  4. That's the direction I think I'd like most, too. I think it has the most story potential out of Dozens of ideas immediately spring to mind from that scenario.
  5. Everyone has the right to their opinion and to express it. Criticism is not inherently bad. Though, I do wish there was a dedicated forum for complaints, as there are so many pinned topics that the duplicate complaint topics (which people are perfectly entitled to) are really squeezing out other discussions from the front page.
  6. I completely agree with 99% of everything you said, and the reasoning behind it. I would also add that narratively, it succeeded in making me feel something to a degree that no other Halo game previous to it has. And I think people forget, this wasn't the only part of the game that strongly hints at an opening window into John's soul that we haven't seen before. But the 1% I disagree with, is the conclusion based on said reasoning - That said, I totally understand what you're saying and find the reasoning sound.
  7. Whatever production company handled Forward Unto Dawn... and whoever wrote it... have them pen and produce the Halo film. Then have Blomkamp direct it. That's my verdict, personally. I think the District 9 approach to crafting the cinematic feel of a Halo film would be picture perfect for it. But I want it to be rooted in UNSC and Halo lore and visuals the way FUD was. That series gave me real hope that a Halo film could be absolutely amazing if handled delicately and decisively.
  8. Clearly the Covenant evolved from early Earth-born television signals they intercepted of Starburst candy commercials where a girl's head was comprised of grapes. These signals traveled through a rare combination of dark matter and the gravity well of a nearby black hole, and thus went back in time to the beginnings of Covenant life. Just as they interpreted the Forerunners as gods, they believed that this was a sign from their creators. Thus they genetically engineered themselves for eons predicated on the ultimate goal of achieving grape juice-ness. Grape Juiceosity is now the basis of all Covenant life and technology. Except for the hunters. The hunters are based on Kool-Aid man.
  9. Cortana. She grew and changed the most out of any character when compared to where she started in my opinion.
  10. This is just one of what I'm sure will be many Halo 4 inspired fan videos, given I'm sure mine won't be anywhere near the top of anyone's list of good ones. But I felt the need to do it, because Halo 4's plot and the history of this franchise really were genuinely moving to me. Again, be warned. Obviously, this will contain Halo 4 spoilers. http://youtu.be/qGBWA_vU8z8
  11. My theory is that Halo 5 will explore John having to be on his own for the first time, and his conflicting feelings about duty versus his largely buried, but now bubbling to the surface, humanity. I think either somewhere in 5, or in 6, Cortana will be back. Somehow. Either the Librarian copied her when she was in its systems and fixed her like she did John, or perhaps him being altered to be immune to digitization will somehow cause her to re-coalesce. Perhaps even as an organic life form. That would be an interesting story to tell. But I believe she will be back, somehow.

    Covenant?

Read "The Thursday War" for further insight.
  13. That's sad. I know what it feels like for a franchise I loved to change so drastically that I can't enjoy it anymore. I'm sorry it no longer meets your criteria for a great Halo experience. While I don't feel that way personally, I know that Halo has been a big part of many people's gaming lives, so leaving it behind has to sting. May the sun be on your helmet visor, and the wind be at your posterior armor plating.
  14. ^ The reasons for the current conflict with the splinter faction of the Covenant were covered in the novels. I know it would be nice for everything to be articulated in-game, but that complaint also applies to the original trilogy. A huge chunk of stuff has happened.
  15. I watched the entire game on YouTube and still can't wait to play it. It's a good enough and well executed enough story that I would have replayed it multiple times, anyway. But yeah, I agree, the INTENTIONAL spoilers and leaks are really not cool at all. P.S. You can post about what you're holding back on by putting it in spoiler tabs. [] with spoiler in it, and [/] with spoiler in it.
  16. Official word right now is that they "have no plans" to bring it to PC.
  17. I would suggest purchasing a 16GB USB thumb drive, and run the entire game from that. No, I don't think it's fair that you should have to do that. No, it's not an ideal solution. But it is a way around this issue at least.
  18. I guess spoilers are being permitted now, so... There are a few ways she could have survived that I can think of. Remember that we're dealing with sci-fi and creative storytelling, and in that context anything is possible. The two ways I can conceive of are
  19. So, it's not quite as contradictory as it might seem. That was my interpretation, at least.
  20. Totally agree with everything you said, particularly re: the narrative. It was beautifully told imo.
  21. I don't hear a short E or J sound in that at all, personally. Only a long E, and a CH sound, i.e. Chief.
  22. Dude, practically nothin'. I balled my eyes out!
  23. Having seen the ending now... I can think of one or two ways the character in question could come back. One has to do with a "book keeper..." if you catch my drift. Another has to do with the digitization of another character that may have happened. I also see a LOT of potential for making MC a more emotionally relatable character now going forward, possibly with some deep internal conflicts as he "ages" and becomes potentially obsolete. I shall say no more, though. The storyline in the game was deeply moving to me, though.
