  1. as far as i recall Faber was hunted and at some stage killed. i vaguely recall bits and pieces of Mendicant Bias attacking during a trial of some form i think, and a small group of people escape through a large portal with several of the Halo Rings. anyway, personally i believe it's more likely to be The Didact. [bornstellar i think, either way, the Son, not the Father. >.> forgotten their names now. need to reread Primordium it seems]
  2. i'm goin back to my BR of old. i could always nail a headshot even if i miss the first round of the burst, cause i adjust it mid-burst and hit them with the second or third round.
  3. False, Goldeneye among others on N64 and other previous systems were created long before Halo. Halo was the main game that really launched FPS games on consoles. aside from that, i agree with your viewpoint.
  4. i forgot to mention, she also used her copying ability to delay and distract the gravemind, this being one of the reasons she wasn't driven to rampancy there and then, while several copies were.
  5. First off, 7 years is the average life expectancy of a Smart AI. Secondly, while most of your info is correct, Cortana is one of two known AI's created from a flash-cloned human brain, the rest weren't done from flash-cloning, the humans they were created from died as a result. Halsey used Flash-cloning because she needed a Smart AI and also needed to continue her work, so she cloned her own brain several times until she found one she could use for a Smart AI. Also, Cortana's Life Expectancy was likely reduced by the amount of information she absorbed from the Installation 04, however she's still not entirely rampant, even after about 8 years. As read in one of the books [don't ask which, i can't remember] it's mentioned how during an attack on a Covenant fleet, she used copied forerunner code from a Covenant AI, to, along with the ability to translate Covenant language, create copies of herself that, while imperfect, allowed them to succeed. Using forerunner code and data Halsey removed due to her early stage rampancy symptoms, i believe she also managed to delay rampancy and increase her Life Expectancy to it's original 7 years or perhaps even further.
  6. Posted after the trailer release. Coincidence?... i doubt it.
  7. it would appear i need to do some catching up on Cygnus this week...
  8. To be exact, rereading the first post on the first page would be an idea. it mentions it there.
  9. \ meh, if i wasn't tired and distracted i'd have noticed that. >.>
  10. Everything. the books and games all tie into the same story, the books add details hinted at in the games. background on The Forerunners and The Flood for example. that we'll probably figure out closer to release date, or after.
  11. Notice how 8 of those reversed numbers result in Mexico? also, 3 straight results in sweden, and several in the Czech republic. definitely get some follow up on those.
  12. based on what i remember, the second, and last paragraphs of that hint at a Precursor, the third paragraph hints at upholding the Forerunner Mantle. just my interpretation.
  13. at the very least any rogue AI would require time to reactivate and restore power to most of the installation to activate it. my main question is, why would AC abandon I010? and driz, from the look of 09137 UV's posts, it appears it's either damaged from fighting the rogue I010 AI, or going to be rewritten by either the rogue, or another AI.
  14. considering Enlightened's only been a user since yesterday, in comparison with the length of time most or all of the rest have been created previously, it's probably safe to assume either: AI just comin into play, which is doubtful, or someone bein a pain in the arse. [also, all of his posts have been in THIS topic only.] and yes, i've been busy reading as you've been theorycrafting. tis interesting. >.>
  15. ayup, i do. his sole being was to stop mendicant from breaching the Maginot sphere, and buy time for the forerunners to activate the Array. Edit: even though mendicant bias took about 67 years or so for the Gravemind to corrupt...but still.
  16. rivalled only by Offensive bias, however Offensive was created solely to slow/halt Mendicant Bias, and wasn't created with the personality aspects.
  17. nah, the terminals in halo 3 are run by Mendicant bias itself. last terminal's a dead giveaway for it, if you don't notice it beforehand.
  18. while i'm not goin to be as enthusiastic as some of you here, the only reason the Gravemind didn't completely corrupt and take over Cortana was because she sealed off a section of herself including the Index, and avoided so much as thinking about it, to the point of near madness, until the Chief found her, and brought her back from the brink. i've read as much myself in the books, as i've read every single book, and played through every single game [cept anniversary >.<] on all difficulties. and in the Terminals, it's been theorised that it's Mendicant bias, or part of his personality core, trying to make amends for his actions by attempting to help the Chief. reading through the terminals you can see as much in his texts. now, i'm off to work for 8 hours >.< i'll see how you's go when i'm back.
  19. things that far back are probably better off staying in their current formats. and there are books that are based before the Human-Covenant war, Fall of Reach being only one.
