  1. I can assure you this is just more whining on behalf of developers.

Quite a lot of modern PC games take no more than 2 cores of a CPU, if the Xbox has 8 cores, it needs no more than to use 4 of these cores at any moment for a game. The same goes for a GPU, I'd be seriously concerned if that 10% actually meant anything. We're talking about consoles here, the hardware in Xbox One is nearly as good as the tower I'm using now in terms of GPU model; I've never had to use even half of my GPU for games that, by far, outmatch next-generation console game's needs. Yet again, Sony and Microsoft whine on about how their 60fps is the best thing in the world. Hello? I've been running over 250 frames each second on some games and haven't used half of my GPU? The only people you can blame for not making games to run in 1080p for Xbox One are the developers themselves; it is laziness or the problems of a tiny almost-indie developer (which I'm pretty sure that this isn't the case here).

Put it this way, Xbox One and PS4 are made for gaming. If you broaden to the actual definition of gaming, many developers will notice that you don't need to visit your friends for a LAN party on Age of Empires 2, and that now we can have 60 people chatting at once in a game having fun (ShackTactical, TS3 etc.); social interaction is a big part of gaming. You can deny it all you like, Xbox One and PS4 has took some pretty neat steps to become what we all want.

  2. Full Name: Leon'Nara narr Rayya

    Race: Quarian

    Gender: F

    Class: Infiltrator

Occupation: In training for Quarian Special Operations pre-Pilgrimage, now a Pilgrim. Currently incarcerated (jailed) on the Citadel

Relations: Has deep hatred to Cerberus because of their crimes against the Migrant Fleet (destruction of ships, tortue ect.) and subsequently hates humans because of her imprisonment and their shady-ness. Like the majority of humans, a hatred for Batarians because of their obsession with slavery. Doesn't any other race but Drell, Hanar and Quarians. Thinks that Geth peace is possible but unlikely as they're still very rudimentary.

Aesthetics or Clothing: First layer of suit is all black, top layer of armour is coated in black paint patterned with a dark grey-ish colour; protective plating on feet/legs is a dark gray with white outline (boots like similar to the ones on ME2 Quarian models.

Facial Appearance: Light blue eyes, light blue visor. Light blue light where mouth is, similar too all other Quarians and functions the same, flickers according to speech.

3 Powers and Weapon of choice: [Make sure it makes sense: Tactical Cloak, Incinerate, Energy Drain, M-3 Predator, M-8 Avenger.

Backstory: Born on the liveship Rayya, she was mainly tasked with engineering jobs on the drive core of the Rayya and a few other vessels as well as additional basic tasks such as cleaning out an engine or air filters. At the age of 15, Leon started training as a Quarian marine, because of her noticeable interest in hand-to-hand combat and previous engineering work (thus meaning she is more capable of tech attacks), she was selected (along with others) to train for special operations. Whilst in training, other duties were still there and required to be done, including a project on the Aleria A few months into training and Leon and her fellow trainees was sent off to their Pilgrimage.

After being left on Illium with armour, an omni-tool and a M-3 Predator, incidents led to other incidents which subsequently forced her to flee to the Citadel in hope of safety. Two weeks after getting to the Citadel (stow-away in a merchant freighter), she surprisingly managed not to get into trouble until finding a Cerberus research vessel; it was empty, she sneaked inside the docked ship and discovered some alarming information discovered about the fleet (shipping manifests, points on ships that aren't fully covered by kinetic barriers, ship numbers and crew detail). Instead of just trashing the ship and deleting all of the data, she attempted to steal it because of its notable value of both the ship itself and equipment in it. After undocking, Citadel traffic control immediately attempted to stop the vessel. After speeding towards a Mass Relay, numerous C-Sec ships chased the Cerberus vessel and flailed cannon-fire into it, eventually the drive core was hit and the engines stopped just a kilometre away from the Mass Relay. The ship was boarded and Leon was detained after trying to fend C-Sec officers off with hand-to-hand until she was shot and thus immobilised. (I'm **** at condensing this stuff but I tried to make it small :c)

A few notable disadvantages would be that because of being on Pilgrimage, finding enough food was often troubling as well as the addition of poor treatment by C-Sec as well as the more natural lacking of strength of Quarians compared to other races means that she is notably weaker thus meaning she cannot carry weapons of a heavy weight or carry much equipment (also cannot sustain attacking in melee combat). Isn't very persuasive, infected due to being shot before arrest and hasn't really been in a real firefight before.

  3. There will be some changes coming to the forge section over the next few days. Initially we will be combing the THFE and Community forge sections into a single section with THFE will still holding the top area for their submissions. Our own 343i.org submission area will follow with an updated series of forums for tips, discussion and a new Forge Showcase of all the best maps the community has to offer. Please forgive us for any temporary inconvenience this may cause.

At least DON'T call it the "THFE Forums" or anything.

Not every forger wraps themselves around THFE's feet and cuddles them for bed-time stories.

If you do call it the "THFE Forums" I will not only cry, but I will blow a deity out of my hair dryer and make him/her/it/whatever curse the US with Britain's completely random weather and then I'll remove every funny piece of content from the internet. Then I'll steal all clothing apart from ones that make everyone look like a chav-criminal hybrid so you'll forever be scared whilst walking in public because it is harder to know who's going to mug or stab you. Then I'll do some other unspecified stuff to cause mis- you get the point.

  4. This sort of idea has actually been surprisingly popular lately. There was a similar sort of idea in the 'Hazard' variants of Mass Effect 3's multiplayer, which added various challenges such as reduced visibility and damage over time in certain areas, and of course the Gears of War series has been playing around with map-specific modifiers, first with the Forces of Nature DLC and then the declassified challenges in Gears of War: Judgement. Even Call of Duty: Black Ops II experimented with dynamic maps elements like moving crates.

I don't think putting AI-controlled units into multiplayer is a terribly good idea though, because it's an extra layer of calculations to perform and then send, and AI-intensive data is why you can get so much lag with three Grunts and a Jackal on-screen when playing co-op Campaign over the internet, but 8v8 Big Team games can play just fine.

But other than that, I can definitely see the potential in this! If a blizzard arrives every two or three minutes, reducing visibility for anyone outside and perhaps affecting aim assist, or there was some sort of electromagnetic reaction which harmed shields and scrambled the motion tracker of anyone in range of a damaged reactor, or in a damaged spaceship with very narrow corridors the gravity generators might occasionally fail, so for a few second everyone might be weightless and when the generators came back on the gravity might be in a different direction, so you'd have a completely new map layout, or there might be a bomb goes off halfway through so that a big chunk of the map changes and ends up being laid out completely differently. I don't know that these would be good for regular competitive play, as they might be a bit too unpredictable, but they could be great fun for Custom Games or Social playlists, where the more chaos, the better! :)

You cite Call of Duty to do this despite many games doing this many times in the past?

Plus, 8v8 Big Team on Xbox One would be kind of pointless. It wouldn't be "Big Team" anymore, it would be "Average-sized Team" which sounds horrible. With better servers plus new-ish hardware it is pretty reasonable to go straight to 16x16 for Big Team. Maps will be big enough to support 16x16, too.

Wouldn't it be nice to bring bigger lobbies to consoles? At least 32 people in the biggest-sized lobby? Feels almost empty when I come from PC back to Halo and I've gone from 200+ people on average to 8+ people on average.

  5. Multiplayer & Forge

    • Bigger maps
    • A lot more forge items
    • Five times the amount of items you can place on the map (thus 5x Budget, too)
    • Ability to have lobbies up to 32. That's barely any players but for a console, that's a fairly decent amount. Plus some people have IKEA-grade internet connection; anything above 32 would cause problems with just playing. Big team battle should obviously cap at 32
    • Elites to be play-able in some game-modes.
    • Invasion, One Flag, Assault and Dominion to definitely stay in Halo 5
    • Flood to become more like Infection again, load-outs for infected Spartans should be made available.
    • Base-player traits specific to **EACH** load-out. This allows for class-based game-modes which are long overdue in Halo.
    • Linear maps like Ragnorak to make Big Team games a lot more fun
    • Dynamic maps. Things like gates can be opened and turrets activated ect.

    Campaign

    • Infinity to be nearly destroyed (or completely destroyed) in an actual conflict in space (which would be a first for Halo)
    • Elites to return and be a lot more ruthless
    • A major focus on politics between humans and Elites plus considerable tension (no xenophobic derpderps) with each species' demands
    • Friendly platoon of Elites, Grunts, Hunters and Jackals to assist.
    • At some point, a massive battle that isn't over 10 ten seconds; this should be composed of both cinematic and actual play-able content

    Both

    • Falcon and Hornet to return
    • SMG and Plasma Rifle to return
    • Brute Shot to replace Concussion Rifle
    • Battle Rifle, DMR and Assault Rifle to return and stay similar to the ones just after Halo 4's launch
    • Grenade Launcher as well as the Sticky Detonator to return / stay in Halo 5

Like this post if you like the ideas!

  6. I have read a lot of hostility towards Sarah, I would just like to understand why.

How would Spartan OPs be without her? Just Lasky doing whathever  he  thinks is right without anyone against him (like the Halsey incident).

I would just like to understand this unlikeness, as I have only found request for her death but no reasons.

    She's a bit of a *****.

    I prefer Commander Shepard.

    Or Buster Gonad.

    But mostly Shepard.

  7. Vehicles are a core part of Halo; they deserve to be treated that why.

They add the necessary diversity to stop the game from becoming tedious.

    New Vehicles:

    Mk. II Hornet:

    Overview

The hornet was always a fun UNSC to play with however, it was like a tiny gunboat; it dished out too much damage.

The hornet should receive a completely new model with a similar concept of the original hornet apparent in the wire-frame model; the textures should give it its slick-new UNSC look. The hornet should be scaled up 1.25x the size of the original hornet.

    Occupants

    1 pilot, 2 passengers

    Armaments

2 machine gun turrets like the original hornet; they will overheat just like normal machine-gun turrets. 2 chaff pods with 0.9x the halo 3 damage and a new idea, "countermeasures" to deal with rockets and scramble target-locks. Using the countermeasure (key binding: use armour ability) will be send out flares in front of the hornet, they will crackle and draw lots of attention; using the counter-measure will make a considerably loud noise and cause quite the commotion. The countermeasure will scramble all target locks and remove aim assist for the duration of the countermeasure. It will also be seen as a direct collision to rockets and weapons like the incineration cannon or it's Halo 5 equivalent. The countermeasures last for 2.5 seconds and will require a cool-down time of 30 seconds, chaff pods will require a cool-down time of 15 seconds and will be 0.7 the speed of the Halo 3 chaff pod projectiles. The machine gun turrets will require 5 seconds to vent after overheating and will overheat after 10 seconds of constant use.

    Armour

Let's say the DMR did 25 damage per shot.

The Hornet's structure could take 250 damage before a little bit of smoke and a new slightly damaged model & mesh replaces the clean one. 500 damage before it starts catching fire. 750 damage before flashing internal warning lights, the wind-shield is shattered making the pilot vulnerable; the pilot can be hit, not damaging the hornet but damaging the pilot's shields and later health. At 1000 damage, the hornet will explode violently and scatter debris with enough kinetic energy to cause a splatter (but can easily be dodged).

Of course, there is a far less resistance to explosives and the the spartan laser.

One UNSC rocket will do 600 damage (to the vehicle because of low-resistance) and the spartan laser will deal 1100 damage to the hornet. Of course, if countermeasures are used, the rockets will not hit however, the countermeasures will obviously not do a thing to the spartan laser.

  8. The cloak was very...outcast Jedi, Starwars-like. This was an odd touch for Halo but somewhat effective though a tad overated. The use of Cortana's chip as a dogtag will undoubtedly come into play later as the masterchief finds either another version of Cortana or perhaps a completely different AI.

The location is highly mysterious though the rubble in the distance might provide some clues. The prescence of the "bird" which everyone was so interested in might indicate chief is fighting more forerunner stuff, the wings were very indicative of that.

More importantly, did anyone notice the state his armor was in~? Chief clearly hasn't been working with the UNSC for a while now. Perhaps after Cortana's death he went AWOL~? Single player will be very interesting with these new developments obviously, and I doubt 343 will rush things having seen what the last Halo did to fans. The question however is, will they have a choice...

The device Cortana was stored on could have some importance. I doubt it there, because it has never been mentioned before.

  9. As an average in the US dollar, AVermedia LGP is $179.00 and the Elgato HD is $159.00.

I don't understand why people are willing to pay this much just for a capture card; most of the time, people are just using it for recording games.

  10. Never been a fan of the PlayStation, it just lacks the brilliant games such as Halo. Besides; always preferred Xbox and I'm not going to be discouraged about fan-boy wars all over YouTube ect.

I don't care Call of Duty was the only game shown in-depth.

We now know we can use our voice for a lot of things, including things like Skype and there's also TV.

That's impressive enough, it was the reveal of a new console in the first place; it was never a game reveal.

  11. Ok, I'm to start by admitting I'm no expert on the Halo Universe, so if I make mistakes please don't tear me apart. I've never played Halo 2 (because it was released on my 10th birthday), however I've played through the Reach, Halo 3, Halo 4 and most of Combat Evolved campaigns. I also watch Forward Unto Dawn spent hours researching stuff on the Wiki etc. before the release of Halo 4.

Anyway to the point of my post. Firstly, I just don't think 343 could kill off Cortana, I mean what they've done with Halo 4 is absolutely incredible, they've made a game have such a deep and emotional storyline, I can honestly say no other game I've ever played has never had such an effect on my emotions. They built up the characters of Cortana and Chief up to a new level in this game and by therefore seemingly "killing Cortana" engaged everyone more deeply in the storyline and that obviously benefits them. However as they've shown by what they've done with this game, they understand us and they know it would be fatal if they have killed off Cortana. Also they chose to leave Cortana's "death" open, with many possible explanations as to how she could have survived which if they were actually going to kill her, they'd of probably eradicated to make it more dramatic. I'd also like to say that if 343 haven't killed her, from what I've seen of them, it'll be in an incredibly odd and imaginative way. Finally I'd like to conclude by saying the one reason I am reasonably certain they won't have killed her is because of when Cortana says, "don't make a girl a promise you can't keep", which every time I see makes me want to cry sad.png. But Chief's a Spartan, and Spartans, Greek or modern don't break promises. Oh and really finally this time, if they killed off Cortana completely then they'd have a bloody hard time trying to make Chief seem human (which I'm assuming was what they were doing). Cause lets face it, there was something between the Chief and Cortana that was making both of them more human and killing one would turn the other one back more machine than they begun.

    Anyone else agree/think differently?

    Play Mass Effect.

Then you'll see that you're wrong.

Getting rid of Cortana gives Chief a shot at being human again.
