Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment has confirmed that the physical version of Batman: Arkham Trilogy for Nintendo Switch will only actually include Arkham Asylum on the cartridge. The physical version will include download codes for Arkham City and Arkham Knight, meaning an internet connection will be required to install them onto Switch systems.

This comes by way of the game's FAQ page (as relayed by IGN). According to the game's publisher, "Batman: Arkham City and Batman: Arkham Knight will require an online connection to download and install both titles when the Batman: Arkham Trilogy cartridge is inserted into the Nintendo Switch console. All three games will then be playable as long as the cartridge is inserted into the Nintendo Switch console."

It's unclear what the download sizes for each of the digital games will be, but it's possible they'll take up a considerable amount of storage space. For context, the Steam version of Arkham City is around 17GB while Arkham Knight clocks in at 45GB. The studio behind the port, Turn Me Up Games, will likely condense each game on Switch, meaning it's possible they'll take up less storage space than their Steam or console counterparts.

It's not unusual for physical Switch boxes to include download codes for some, if not all, games in a collection. For instance, the Borderlands Legendary Collection only actually includes the first Borderlands game on the cartridge, while the other entries must be downloaded digitally.

Batman: Arkham Trilogy launches for Nintendo Switch this fall.
