Deep Silver's parent company, Plaion, will reportedly be making changes to its game publishing business, which will involve both laying off workers and merging several of its brands.

According to GamesIndustry.biz, Plaion is dropping Deep Silver, Prime Matter, and Ravenscourt. Instead of publishing titles under those labels, future titles will reportedly be published under Plaion. The aim is reportedly to produce fewer titles at a higher quality.

A Plaion representative told GamesIndustry.biz that the restructuring will simplify its publishing business and only affect about five to six jobs out of the over 2,000 employees currently there.

Additionally, the restructuring won't take effect immediately, but over the next year. The spokesperson also clarified that games may still be published under the three labels over the next couple of years.

The spokesperson also noted that this has nothing to do with Embracer Group's ongoing review. It's unclear what's happening, if anything, with Milestone and Vertigo Games.

Plaion was previously known as Koch Media, which rebranded to its current name in August 2022. Deep Silver is known for games such as Dead Island 2 and Saints Row. Ravenscourt was founded in 2014 and is best known for Road 96 while Prime Matter was founded in 2021 and is set to publish games like Payday 3 and System Shock remake.

GameSpot has reached out to Plaion for comment.
