ct2515
Most of the time you cant get the players you need on a map so why not have AI's to shoot
depressant
I think A.I.s need to be in Forge so we can have battle scenes and wars between A.I.s. We should also be able to choose between all different species and choose for them to be enemies or friends.
Twinreaper
One problem..AI pathfinding.
E-Runner
Having working AI is more complicated than just spawning them. They need to have set paths, behaviors, etc I'm pretty sure. Also have to be made so they don't walk off cliffs or kill themselves or walk into walls. In custom Forge maps maps can be anything. Thus, AI kinda need to be map specific I would imagine? Not sure. Twinreaper
Correct you are E-Runner. AI requires zones, triggers, pathfinding and a few other dependent information. Some Forge items are already checked as "AI Pathfinding", meaning that no matter what map or instance, the AI will see it and act accordingly. But that doesnt solve spawning, or the myriad of behavior issues. For example, search for the Bear Tower FarCry 4 video. It shows what happens when you simply try to just drop an AI onto a map with terrain. It doesnt go as planned obviously. Something as advanced as AI, requires not only that the single_player engine be called into use, but AI has to be compiled into a map.
ct2515
I think with next gen it will be easer to do maybe not on forge world but have a map made for firefight
Twinreaper
Well that's the trade off. While yes you could compile all needed resources into a map and allow people to customize it, but that custom ability would be limited only to the type of enemies that spawn or how many. Consoles don't possess the needed resources or ability to fully edit or create a true custom expereience. Even the original FarCry with the terrain editing was pushing it, and that was written on Cryengine, which is a completely different beast than Blam!
