The constant beeping started to drill into Jozef's ears. The missile had been dogging him for a good 2 minutes now. He couldn't do it. The missile dipped below him, and he let off the throttle and pulled up. the missile Crashed into His Fighter. He felt the fire engulf him.

Jozef woke up in a cold sweat. He'd died in his dreams before, But he never got used to it. He jumped out of his bed and walked into his personal bathroom for a shower.

Ten minutes later, he was sipping coffee, mixed with some Hangover pills, in the briefing room. The commander walked in.

Jozef stood up. "Officer on deck!" he saluted

"At ease."

Jozef sat down. He and the Commander had been in the Founding members of OFO, and had been friends since before that. But in front of the rest of the troops it was all business.

"Ok... We have confirmed that the Insurrectionist base is set somewhere in this trench" The commander Highlighted a long Trench running under Ozguiliath's surface. "We can't map this area, so we need the best to fly through it, and find the base. then, mark it so we can take it out. We do that, and the UNSC pays us enough to buy a brand new Capital Ship.

Jozef shifted in his seat. It was no secret he was the one to go to for this, But that trench was unmapped for a reason. nothing can fly through it without being destroyed. How the Insurrectionists had made a base in there is a mystery. The jagged Caves would challenge any pilot to the max, and the chance to make one wrong turn, and ending up at a dead end, had been the end of many a hot shot pilot. But the Respect of being able to do it was the reason he was willing to go. that and the money. His cut from this mission would be well over $1,000,000. But only if they could eliminate the base.

"Jozef." The commander began. "You are the best we have. Are you willing to undertake this mission?"

"Yes sir. Willing and Able."

"Good. We'll have your Berkut ready for tomorrow morning."

The briefing broke up afterward. Jozef spent the rest of the day preparing.

Jozef sat in his Berkut, doing pre-flight checks.

"Aerials, check. Yaw, check. Throttle, check. Everything checks out. K'dal, you running Command today?"

"Yes Jozef, I'll be your handler today."

"Good, 101 missions together eh?"

"Lets just make sure we get to have a 102nd."

Jozef gulped. Even K'dal was doubting his survival. The trench, dubbed "The Gauntlet", Had claimed so many lives of the people who have tried to either map it, or fly through it on a dare.

"Lets just get this over with K'dal."

"You are cleared for launch."

Jozef eased the Throttle forward. As the fighter picked up speed he pulled back on the stick, until he felt himself lurch into the air.

"This is Raven 1-5, Moving to objective A. ETA 1 hour. out."

"General distress call, U.C.R.S Unforgiving, ID-002B, Requesting any assistence over."

The ship was adrift in space, relying on thrusters to keep it still.

It's entire fighter complement was deployed, protecting the vessal from more unwanted guests.

"What's the word on the repairs?"

"Still ongoing on the lower decks, engines will be offline for weeks without any help."

"Alright Major, keep me posted. Commander, any info on those covenant."

"It was an old Covie tactic to trap UNSC vessals and destroy them with ease from the broadside, no defense against it."

"So the turrets were justified then?"

"Yeah, I guess so. With a MAC installed we'd be sitting ducks. I guess the ******** never expected a 2000mm gun to be pointed at their bows."

"Keep alert then, and let me know what the salvage teams find."

"Yes sir."

The Sangheili typed orders for humans and elites with shotguns and energy swords to escort him into the ship. Enemy territory, he couldn't take any chances. The weapons on all ships targeted individual ships, not charging or firing, but as a safeguard. They boarded a Lich, which was escorted by a Corvette to the hangar of the requested ship. The Lich docked and released the party

A Large contingent of Marines escorted the party to the entrance of the room.

Two Cerberus troopers were standing guard at the door.

"Only the leadership is allowed into the room, everyone else can go to the mess hall or wait here."

The Admiral walked out of the room and gestured the Team to come inside.

"Look, even we have honour. To kill a enemy after I invited him onto my ship in the name of peace would be unthinkable. I can give the rest of your people a tour of all the unrestricted part of the ships if you want."

"No, trust is a resource to be earned. Not bought, I would prefer my guards to stay outside the doors. Now, our proposals for the study are to set up permanent bases around these relics for study and defense. This research would continue uninterrupted by your people, in return, we would stay out of your way and defend ourselves when necessary. Any findings we feel fit to dispense, we will share with you. Our alliance with 646 Nova will allow us to interpret the symbols around te artefacts to find the purposes of objects. What would your terms be in this... Agreement?"

"Your guards can wait where they wish. Now on to buisness."

He picked up a notepad and began to read it.

"We've conducted our own investigation into these sites and we have a great idea of what can be learned from there. Here is our terms."

"1. Ship shielding technology is something we have a keen intrest in and I know it comes standard built on all covenant ships. Outfitting our fleet is a top priority."

"2. We want to conduct mock battles between our fleets, to hone our skills."

"3. As you said, "trust is a resource to be earned". I want an advisor to remain on site to keep tabs, he doesn't need to know details. Only that there is not a mass invasion being plotted."

"4. Any agricultral information you gain from the site will be necessary."

"5. Keep those stealth ships out of the atmosphere. You shouldn't have anything to hide. We can detect them in the atmosphere you know."

"6. That robot, your "ally" or his buddys are allowed no where near the planet. This is non-negotiable."

"Those are the terms."

((Heading offline now.))

"For shielding tech, our Huragok are able to outfit the ships. You will provide the parts needed, and we can provide the talent.i do not see how you intend mock battles, but any sign of aggression from your ships, and they will be obliterated before they get in range of our ships. An advisor will be allowed on site, with one squad of your troops. They will NOT interfere with our research or troops, again, any sight of hostile intentions will have to be explained rather quickly, we have no need for agriculture. We can literally assemble food from raw atoms, we can pass all of our agricultural information onto your fleet in a matter of minutes, our Stealth ships will remain in atmosphere, with stealth drives disengaged. This is purely for safety of our fleet. A... Deterrent, if you like. And although our alliance with Forerunners is an agreement, we will be sending findings to their translators which will be sent back. Now, one additional thing, there will be no intercepting of transmittions by any of us. This is because we determine what knowledge is safe to distribute. We already have bases around halos 01,02 and 07. They are under lockdown and things like that we would prefer to not be seen. And lastly, a star map will be provided to you, listing worlds in this galaxy and their inhabitants. It should prove useful to you."

Nova displayed himself in the room the Fleetmaster and Admiral were talking in. "Hello, nice to see all of you again. Agreements is what we are talking about right?" the Oracle asked.

(( Suddenly, Boom Character re-insertion. I refuse to drop Ty. Mainly because he's the character i've used on almost every RP i've been in...O_O))

Ty sat in the back of the Falcon. He flicked a switch on his head set.

"Raven 1-5, this is Foxtrot 4-1, When you get that base marked, we'll be moving in to clear it out. How copy?"

"Solid Copy, Foxtrot 4-1. I'll be sure to save some targets for you. over."

"We'd appreciate that Raven 1-5, Out."

Ty sat back. He checked his rifle for the fifth time.

"Command this is Raven 1-5, on final approach ETA 15 minutes. out."

"I don't want to waste time with this insolent human. So you are sending data to our translators? Very well." Nova said. the Oracle disappeared.

((Now for my new character to make his entrance! Vilcus... The last Precursor! Check out my latest application if you want to see what he looks like))

-----------------------------------------

Vilcus - The Last Precursor

12:06

Inside the hyper-giant star VY Canis Majoris

Vilcus awoke to energy bouncing around him. Was he still in the star? That must have been it. He thrust his arms out to the side, and the star exploded in a hyper-nova that could be heard all across the galaxy, and anything that was 100,000 kilometre radius, would be vaporized. Vilcus unfolded his metal-energy wings and burst across the galaxy, needing to find how much life had advanced. He came across what looked like two fleets with an elite Fleetmaster and a human Admiral discussing something. The last Precursor decided to warp in there, and talk to them as well.

Commander Zax tapped away at his fighters controls.

It had been weeks since he got a chance to test his flight abilities again...he had been aching to fly once more, and a series of asteroids gave him a great chance to test his abilities.

His fighter, a customised X012 Starstreamer was the best fighter available for military units...very powerful, very fast and requiring the best of pilots to use.

Zax pulled out the Control stick and started up the thrusters.

The Starscream glided over the hover rails and built up speed before it exited the ships fighter hanger, taking off into deep space.

Zax took the control stick and pulled up, the star scream turning quickly and pointing up. The thrusters were turned off and afterburners were activating taking the starscream off towards the asteroids at high speed.

"This is commander Zax...im entering the asteroid field in Approximately 5 mintues"

"WHAT THE HELL IS THAT THING DOING ON MY SHIP?!"

"Admiral, calm down, we'll deal with this later. Fleetmaster, by mock battles we mean training excercises, to gain some practical expierience on space combat."

The General stood up and began to look at the painting on the wall, while the Admiral calmed himself in a bottle of whiskey.

"Otherwise then that, the terms seem fair. Be warned however that all of your stealth ships will need to update their poistions to a nearby base every so often and will be restriced in their fly zones."

He began to walk towards the fleetmaster.

"Now, I suppose we have a deal then? I should hope so."

The admiral looked up from his bottle.

"Those robotic pricks are allowed no where near the planet, we will open fire upon them."

"What the Admiral means of course, is that you and your people may come and go, but due to the agression of the other party they will be treated as hostiles."

"And one final thing Fleetmaster, I would like to meet you personally sometime, get to know you."

The General extended his hand.

The Sangheili stood up, and shook hands with the General. The doors behind them opened, to reveal elite troops on either side if the door, swords drawn. A marine in the guards shouted "Commander in deck!" And they parted to the walls, creating a path to walk down. They then followed the group of officers to the Hangar.

"Our fleet is already transporting materials and troops. We will not disturb you if you do not disturb us." He then boarded the Lich and left the hangar.

The Admiral departed the hanger and proceded back to the bridge.

"Sir, ships have began to request approach vectors to the polar region."

"Grant them. Captain, you have fleet command, make sure everything goes smoothly."

The Admiral disappeared into his quarters.

U.C.R.S Unforgiving, unknown region of space.

"Sir, boarding partys have secured the wreck, no hostiles reported on board. They're transmiting the data now."

"Good, tell them to prioritise historical records and report every 5 minutes."

"Yes sir.

The ship was still stuck, transmiting the call for help. No answer was coming.

It was several hours before the data was finalley translated.

"Sir, archives translated."

"Lets waste no time then."

The bridge crew began to go throught the entire covenant recoreds learning everything since their forefathers disappeared from galactic events.

"Look here, that date should be about 2552 if our intel is still accurate. Interesting and frightening. Reach....fell, only one ship escaped. "The sacred ring", "Demon" and "The parasite"? What could that mean?"

He began to become entranced by the records.

"The fall of....Earth, "the prophets betrayel", "Arbiter", "Sacred ring" again, "Oracle", "Demon"....."

"It doesn't sound good sir."

The captain ignored him.

He was reading in silence now, there was a grim look on the crews faces.

"2558, The "human ship Infinity"....Human ship? Innies? I don't understand all this. We'll find out once we get to earth."

"Sir, what if there is no earth?"

"Then we return to Citadel and make every alien ******* that attacks us pay in blood."

Jozef Dialed in his Radio.

"Command, this is Raven 1-5, Requesting permission to begin run."

"Raven 1-5 permission granted, good luck Jozef."

The opening to "The Gauntlet" was a huge hole in Ozgiuliath's surface, at least a Square Kilometer in size. Jozef eased off the throttle as much as he could, and still be able to stay airborne, and dove down into it.

The first few hundred meters were easy, then came the hard part.

Fork after Fork, Jozef had to get lucky and guess which paths would lead him to the Base.

After a few close calls, he managed to make it to a rather open area. at least it looked open.

He felt his Fighter shake. His wing had clipped a stalactite he hadn't seen. He was quickly losing control.

He tried to radio to command, but his radio couldn't get through to the surface.

He had hope. up ahead he saw what was unmistakably the Insurrectionist base. Jozef managed to activate his tracking missile, and got it to transmit his position.

Now all he had to do was survive impact. He couldn't bail out in the cavern, not without being splattered across the ceiling.

The Commanders shipped pulled into the asteroid field and began weaving around the asteroids.

Zax Gripped the control stick and spun the fighter over and dodged an incoming asteroid before increasing the afterburner's power and speeding up.

The fighter barely passed several asteroids weaving around and dodging the hull shattering rocks hurtling towards him.

Zax's smile grew as he began testing himself.

He unloaded several rounds into different small asteroids to break them apart and flew through the tiny chunks that were left over.
