Matthew Brinicombe
Newton 8-10 players "When the UNSC first discovered how to reverse gravity the Newton Facility was constructed to experiment" This map is a symmetrical three layered structure built around a central gravity well which can be used to access any floor. Surrounding the fairly open central play space are four bases; two blue bases connected together by a bridge and two red bases also connected together by a bridge. The main blue and red bases can be accessed from the bottom floor by internal man-cannon, the middle floor by entering through the doorway and the top floor by lifts and from their respective bridges. The blue and red towers have two way teleporters to the bottom, doorways from the centre and can be accessed by the middle or the bridge. I have designed this map to be a fast paced medium sized map with multiple entrances and exits to all of the bases with many jumps and short cuts available for the more daring. Gametypes: Slayer (Team and FFA) King of the Hill (Team and FFA) Capture the Flag Regicide (Team and FFA) Flood Weapons on map: Initial Drop Sniper Rifle x2 (3 minutes) Shotgun x2 (2 minutes 30 seconds) Railgun x1 (2 minutes) Machine Gun x2 (1 minute 30 seconds) Two Frag Grenades x2 (1 minute) Random Drop Energy Sword Saw Sticky Detonator Middle Top Grav (Railgun Spawn) Mid Grav (Grenade Spawn) Bottom Grav Blue Side Blue Top Blue Mid Blue Bottom (Shotgun Spawn) Blue Bridge (Sniper Spawn) Blue Tower Front (Turret Placement) Blue Tower Side Blue Teleporter Red Side Red Top Red Mid Red Bottom (Shotgun Spawn) Red Bridge (Sniper Spawn) Red Tower Front (Turret Placement) Red Tower Side Red Teleporter Walk around (outdated) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AN7y6wqFex4 Tips and Tricks Sprinting into the gravity zone allows you to go down a floor. There are entrance points on all sides of the bottom of the map for you to drop into or thruster pack into. Sprint jump onto the struts bottom middle and you can ride the gravity zone up to middle/ top middle You can jump to blue/red base by sprinting off the railing in top grav. On top grav you can jump onto the dominion lights then onto the top, allowing you to sprint jump onto red/blue tower. From the top of blue/red tower you can sprint jump to the opening on blue/red bridge. From blue/red bridge you can sprint jump onto the ramp up to blue/red tower From the middle you can crouch jump onto the top of blue/red base. Thank you for reading. If you like the look of this map download it from my fileshare (Cheeky Hamster), under the name: "Newton". p.s: sorry for reposting but I have made many changes and wanted to completely redo my post, I have now playtested (and made a load of minor changes) and not only does the map play out well but is very fun to play, please have a go and any feedback would be greatly appreciated.
DoctorB77
I thought at first the map would be bad because of the aerial view from your first thread. But the interior of your map is beautiful. Great job man. What you made needed a lot of creativity and I can not wait to try it out.
Matthew Brinicombe
Thank you DoctorB77, I have updated my map again, tweaking weapons, getting rid of the last of the object clashing and fixing the lifts from mid base to top base. orangedrone
I checked out this map. I like the focus on the sky-scraping central design element (even tho, a lot of people do that) My only minor suggestions/gripes would be the following: The interior of the spawn bases look a little bland and boring. Also the lowest level of the map seems a little barren. Maybe it should be further divided and made into more of a close quarters area. I know the main focus is the central area with the gravity volumes. This is by far your map's strongest element. Bravo on the visual design of this area. However, it's a tad bit gimmicky. Due to the fact that it's a really large area to limit the player's freedom of movement. It has fun potential with friends sure but, not at all for competitive gameplay. People would just avoid it entirely and pick off anyone stupid enough to float around in there.. and I wouldn't blame them Keep trucking! -O
Matthew Brinicombe
Thank you very much for the feedback Orange but after play-testing it doesn't end up like that because top mid is such a powerful position. it plays out very much like Guardian. I am planning on making a MLG version at the moment.
orangedrone
Well, no one is "powerful" when slowly floating around. I'm just speaking from our experiences on the map. I didn't just run around it solo only to report back here with some random biased thoughts We played a few games on it with around 4 of us. The 1st round was all about floating around like retards.. (twas fun) But, the following games were serious and it always ended up with the team who stayed out of the gravity volume(s) winning. So, the final game.. no one touched it at all. I just think people don't like being resticted. It's cool to be able to float up and down slowly.. But, that's like a dream come true for someone sitting off the to the side with their trusty DMR. There was nothing like that in Guardian. Stay forged, -O

SeamlessForge
I like the middle I think I havent't seen something like it before and it works well as far as I can tell. The map looks professional.
o_tallon_o
It's definitely original and creatively constructed, I liked when we played on it but we need more people
Matthew Brinicombe
Thank you very much :-D I'm currently making an MLG version, trying to balance out the weapons and spawns and I shall post that upon completion. Also if any of you would like to add my on Xbox Live my GT is Cheeky Hamster Update 14/1/13 Changed KOTH hills. Added a Team 3 & 4 Flag for CTF and tweaked Red and Blue flags to remove exploits. Added trick jumps to get from bottom middle to middle/top middle. Got ride of a few more spots of object clashing I noticed. The most recent version is on my fileshare but I have been very busy as of late (hence how long it took to post this) and so also have not finished the MLG version. StopPeach7529
The center of the map looks cluttered and the rest unfinished, and you don't want the power weapons like rockets spawning in power positions (ie top mid with the rockets). Judgemodalla
Looks pretty sick. The map reminds me of Pinnacle from Halo:Reach due to the amount of scenery around the map, but scenery isn't an issue at all with this map. Nice job
