  1. Damn, it's been a while since I've written an actual forum post... I agree with you in the sense that there are many flaws with Halo 5 as a game, but I simply feel like there's a severe lack of logic in your replies that indicate slight bias - which is understandable - but doesn't help in the long run at all. Hence I'd like to break it down, and on the off chance you do reply I'd be happy to discuss.

Honestly, if 343 wanted to listen to constructive criticism, they should look at like, I don't know, any video on youtube about the topic. I mean, come on! Don't just blow it off as hating, these people have good ideas that could help. And I'm sure 343 wouldn't listen to complaints either and do nothing. Don't fix it if it ain't broke. Halo was fine before 343 came. And the ending wasn't the only crappy part about it (again, youtube). There was a lot of stuff that didn't make sense. WHO WAS THE MAIN VILLAIN!?!? Not Cortana, not Warden Eternal, not Jul Mdama, so WHO WAS IT!!???!?! Why were the covenant, prometheans and swords of sanghelios there!? Something for us to shoot at and give the arbiter a role!? I mean, COME ON!!!!! I didn't even list half the things I could've listed. And don't even get me started on multiplayer. HOW LONG WILL WE HAVE TO WAIT FOR A WAY TO SELL MULTIPLE REQS AT ONCE!!!! Someone from 343 listened to the complaints about only selling one req at a time and said he'd take it to the team and get it fixed. Here we are, a year after release, AND WE STILL DON'T HAVE IT!! So you tell me, how is Halo 5 in any way not completely ruined by 343? Answer this.

"Don't fix it if it ain't broke" - Just because something is working adequately well for you, does not mean it is the game that others want to play. Never changing anything is going to lead to stagnation, and although all the changes 343 (Or really, any game developer) makes are in pursuit of a better gaming experience - whether it be to cater to newer tastes or to update and refresh old game mechanics - it's only natural, and unfortunate, that they aren't able to please everyone. Nonetheless, never changing anything = never improving. That's how you get bored, and that's how you slowly kill off your player population.

"WHO WAS THE MAIN VILLAIN!?!?" - I thought this was quite obvious, considering Cortana acts against the Master Chief. Furthermore, as Locke, your main objective in the climax of the game is to thwart her plans. Nonetheless, questioning who exactly was the 'bad guy' was probably very much one of the themes and ideas that 343i wanted to convey in Halo 5's story in the first place.

"Why were the covenant, prometheans and swords of sanghelios there!?" - Well, that's why you should've paid attention to the story, right? I mean, come on. While the argument could be made that some information was in books and not revealed in games, it was clear through playthroughs that the Swords of Sanghelios and the Covenant were in a civil war. And the promeatheans... Well, there were tons of Forerunner Structures. Some missions in the game took place on a Forerunner built Planet!

"I didn't even list half the things I could've listed." - List it, please. You've only said like, 3-4 things, and most of your points have been somewhat... nonsensical.

"Someone from 343 listened to the complaints about only selling one req at a time and said he'd take it to the team and get it fixed. Here we are, a year after release, AND WE STILL DON'T HAVE IT!! " - People make mistakes. The team has to prioritise their problems, too. What's more important to functionality of the game? Broken matchmaking? Or the inability to sell multiple REQ packs at once? What's going to keep players continuing to log on each day? Selling their REQ packs? Or new DLC that includes new maps? Different game modes? Yes, it's an issue that they said they would do something and they still haven't done it, but 1) We have no idea how easy it is to fix and 2) There are many, many, many more important things that they are working on.

"So you tell me, how is Halo 5 in any way not completely ruined by 343?" - I mean... It's working fine. People still play. The game is good, fitting both conventions for the Halo series as well as the modern FPS genre. It's made probably way over half a billion in profit for 343. It's got many good reviews. I'd say that means it isn't ruined.

Oh, to add, the cutscene where Chief and Locke fight for no reason because they have no quarrel while most of two highly trained super-soldier fireteams stand and watch as they fight, not talking, not doing anything until AFTER Locke is immoblized. I mean, WHY didn't they do anything! Why did this fight even happen!? They had no quarrel, why give them a two minute or longer cutscene about it for absolutely no reason! SERIOUSLY!! Halo Combat Evolved was great. Halo 2 was great. Halo 3 was incredible. Halo 4 was mediocre at very best. At least it had a main villain. Halo 5. Well. Here we are. The marines were extremely downgraded as well. There were very few of them and they didn't do anything except moan about spartans being on Meridian and get killed after taking down zero enemies. Even in warzone they look cartoony and fake! They have literally one voice for every marine in warzone and only a few for marines in campaign. I honestly didn't even know they were marines! I thought they were stuck-up inhabitants of Meridian that didn't like spartans (which they are). And why is 343 trying to appeal to younger audiences? What makes halo so good is the adult content Bungie put in it. WHY DOES HALO 5 SUCK SO MUCH!!!!!!???

"fight for no reason because they have no quarrel" - Well, one of them disobeyed the chain of command. The other was following it.

"watch as they fight, not talking, not doing anything until AFTER Locke is immobilized. Why didn't they do anytihng?" - Great question, one that you'd have to pick up on both teams' thoughts, as well as understand their personalities, in order to understand. Locke heavily respects the chain of command - he has put Chief's role as the saviour of humanity out of his mind and focused on him instead as the object of his mission and his orders. Chief, meanwhile is fixated on reaching Cortana. Blue Team is family - they will go wherever Chief goes, but they aren't blind dogs. All of them know they are going against their orders - and they've been taught to follow orders their entire life - and it makes them hesitant to engage (Not to mention they knew the outcome of the fight between Chief and Locke before it even happened, and all 3 were most probably ready to pounce should the other members of Osiris decide not to look on as bystanders.) Meanwhile, the other members of Osiris still held heavy respect for Chief and his team. They were saviours of humanity - it was unthinkable for them to betray the UNSC - much less for Osiris to actually attack them.

If I remember correctly, the soldiers in the Meridian mission weren't marines. As for the Marines in Warzone, ignoring the fact that the servers were probably heavily taxed and 343 felt like Marine voice was less integral to gameplay that many other game systems, you know that canonically they are simulations as well, right?

"Why is 343 trying to appeal to younger audiences?" - That is not their only target audience, but it only makes sense to want kids to play your game as they're the ones who're gonna play the next ones and the next ones while series veterans move on.

"What makes halo so good is the adult content Bungie put in it" - I don't remember any adult content, and I honestly wouldn't say violence - which was the reason previous games had a higher rating - was the reason previous games excelled either.

You don't get it! The arbiter had no reason to be there! Cortana and the guardians make no sense whatsoever! That's not even cortana anymore, it's like a different version of her! 343, if you're reading this, (probably not because you think I'm a hater) FIX HALO OR JUST STOP. I don't want to see halo 6 unless you promise me it's good.. Wrong word there, I'll be enraged!

"The Arbiter had no reason to be there!" - Well, other than the fact that that was his home planet, of which he was trying to lead.

"Cortana and the guardians make no sense whatsoever!" - Well, it does make sense, even if in some ways I personally feel the story was in some ways contrived. Pay attention, or if you aren't gonna play the game again, ask away. I'd be happy to explain what you don't understand.

"That's not even Cortana anymore, it's like a different version of her!" - Debatable, but the specifics are up to the story's creators.

"I don't want to see halo 6 unless you promise me it's good" - I'm sure it's gonna be friggin awesome. Unfortunately, just like every other game in existence, it probably won't suit every player's taste. :(

Im not hating on the game, Halo 5 is great and i will continue to play it, but why is the normal DMR unlocked at REQ level 8 in warzone its ridiculos (sorry for the spelling)  One of the reasons i was excited for Halo 5 was to use the Dmr but i only get to use it when the game is almost over. Its above the freaking tank like what the heck.

The base DMR is REQ level 6.

And it is far more powerful than the BR at range, considering there is no chance for any bullets to 'not hit' even if your aim is on point.

  3. Maps look dumb      (Hired an intern to design them)

That is your opinion, but no, I really doubt an intern designed them.

I must start with a assault rifle        (I am a mid to long range player so this means i get no kills untill i can find a decent weapon)

Firstly, if you suck at close quarters combat this is your fault so suck it up and get better rather than ask for the game to change. Secondly, spawning with an AR encourages map movement and forces you to find those decent weapons. Thirdly, you have a pistol, which good players can sufficiently shoot across the map with and can play well at mid-long range. It's THE utility weapon of Halo 5.

Why cant we customize loadouts now? we could in 4 and im sure everyone liked it so why back track

You're wrong, most people hated having customisable loadouts in matches, so they took that out in arena matches. If you want to customise your loadout, you can do so in Warzone.

Why are all the maps the size of a 2 bedroom apartment

Well, you're not playing on Warzone, and no, they aren't the size of 2 bedroom apartments.

Why would you get rid of voting for maps? that has been a thing for ages and it was good thatway we could vote to avoid the crapy maps

    >Map voting is in the game, community is angry because there isn't map diversity and the noobs only vote for the one map they are good

    >Map voting is not in the game, community is angry because they cannot skip maps that they have objectively analysed to show that it is bad

Clearly you see the flaw in logic. In any case, we now have *somewhat* better map diversity than before.

Whos idea was it to take out split screen? what sadist introvert decided that was a good idea and how can i get him/her fired

campaign is good legendary is like a walk in the park but whatever   you could have spent some of the campaign budget to make some of your multiplayer maps ALOT better looking

343 as a whole decided to take out split screen, because the modern day audience that 343 is trying to reach do not primarily play Split screen. And I highly doubt legendary was a walk in the park. Also, IMO the multiplayer maps look good.

More game types maybe? warzone is not bigteam no matter how you spin it (in warzone i spawn and someone is watching the spawn and tagging people out the gate)

If they've managed to spawntrap you it's your fault.

i get trying to make the game a bit more fair for new comers but if you make the loadouts customizable then noobs can start with the same guns as everyone else

Well, this doesn't make any sense, because with even starts, 'noobs' DO start with the same guns as everyone else. And I've said it already, you can customise your loadouts in Warzone.

if you still want to make money then make people buy the guns with req points im sure someone will spend money to not have to wait and you can dip your fingers into their pockets

You can. But spending money purely for a single gun eliminates part of the reason why REQ packs exist, which is to generate the excitement that a person would feel if they were opening a booster pack for a card game. If I were to suggest anything, it would be create an open free market economy where players can set their prices in both real life $ as well as in REQ points (Unfortunately I don't think this can have a set exchange rate) to trade or sell their REQ cards. This way, people who want only one piece of armour can work towards it, but the price is going to be determined by demand and supply. 343 could earn money from this by taking a % of REQ points/$ back.

I like the parkour and the evade hell i even like the thrust punch but what is that worth when everything else is mediocre at best?

halo has been my game of choice for years (since one) i bought a xbox one so i could get five so make it worth my money if i wanted a game like call of duty i would have bought call of duty

Unfortunate that you feel that way. But I feel like Halo 5 has the best multiplayer in the series yet, even if some minor tweaks to how it is right now can make it even better. It feels very different to Call of Duty to me, and I'm happy to play the game and spend money on it in support of 343.

  4. It's not 18m for everything. Almost every map, gametype and vehicles have different ranges.

The radar doesn't have any real issues. I disagree with the fact you say it's not effective. If you look at it it gives you enough time to either turn and fight or to time a boost to avoid their charge.

If the radar had more range then the people flanking you wouldn't stand a chance. Nobody wants an impenetrable defensive line.

Nope. It's 18m in Arena and 25m in Warzone. It's fine for Warzone, partly since the majority of engagements are in long range and partly because the range is sufficiently long enough to promote engagement in a capture point and let people know who is sprinting aorund.

But there is no way it's feasible to use in Arena. The only time it's going to let players know someone is there is if there is someone directly above/below you. Otherwise, you will have seen them or you won't be in an engagement. Now that we have thrusters, clamber and Shoulder charge, it is far too easy for people to simply sprint from one side of the map to the other, behind you, and just smack you in the back. You are barely given the chance to react; you'd basically need to be watching your radar every 1.5 seconds if you wanted to see if anyone was approaching at all times. I'ts just not feasible to even use your radar.

Even if you do react, the enemy is going to be close enough that thrusting out of the way is the only option. If somebody is approaching from the front, they can melee you before you break their shields if they are sufficiently close enough.

Increasing the range to around 22-25meters would be beneficial, in my opinion.

  5. So i went out and bought halo 5, i heard rank was back main reason i bought it. ok so i start off by playing the campaign about half way through it i thought the story was a joke if u kill cortana in the 4th game why bring her back out of ideas much holy smokes. ok so time for multiplayer. so i start up  slayer play my 10 games what i notice right off the bat 1. the game is a complete moose show. 2. people spawn behind me like all the bleep bloop time there is no working as a team to take over areas cause someone just spawns behind your team. 3. the ranking system is pathetic 343 doesnt get it through there head that the 1-50 rank system was made for halo thats what everyone wants and loved why do you think when halo 4 first came out it had 100k people playing it and within a week 90k of those people threw the game in the trash bin. ok so back to ranked i went 5-5 in my placements got ranked plat 1, what im wondering is how am i placed so high for doing so bad, so alot of noobs get high ranks. i cant even see other peoples ranks?. this is where it got back now every game i play seems like im playing against a team of 4 that is hacking or something? unlimited sprint and cod zoom i think whoever decided to mix cod into halo should get shot and fired seriously whos sour gummy worm idea was that?

    343 is you read this

if you wanna turn your franchise around id seriously think about adding a 1-50 rank system, remove sprint, zoom, jet sprint or w.e, noob power weapons the respond in every 30 seconds. match team of 4s with other teams. because once again my halo copy is going on craigslist cause you guys have some real not-so-great-IMO game developers that should get  kicked.

thank you sorry for my grammar but 343 needs to hear this because i guarantee 90% of the halo 5 players are gunna be done with this game in 1 week. halo 3 i played for 6 years straight loved everything about it. and everyone else did to.

Firstly: Platinum is not high. It is the top end of the bell curve. The fact that you THINK it's high, though, is a testament to the fact that psychologically 343i's Ranking system is good at making your ego big and juicy. Which is good! The better people think they are, the more satisfied they will be.

'I can't even see other people's ranks?' You haven't looked hard enough. It's in their profile; but the fact that you can't see their profile before the game is a good thing. Nobody quits because they see the opponent's ranks - they only see it at the end of the match's carnage report.

'Every game I play seems like im playing a against a team of 4 that is hacking or something?' You must be playing against a well co-ordinated team that is... well, above your team's level of skill.

'If you wanna turn your franchise around id seriously think about adding a 1-50 rank system' Which had a massive amount of flaws that have been fixed with the Halo 5 CSR ranking system.

'Remove sprint, zoom, jet sprint or w.e, noob power weapons the respond in every 30 seconds' Ignoring the fact that the final thing does not occur, you're asking to just remove everything that makes the game, the game. People like these inclusions. They fit well into Halo but also make the game fun for a modern generation. The FPS genre is changing and the addition of 3D movement is only going to increase the skill gap as we weed out the people who can only think in a 2D plane from the players who have the spatial awareness for the entire 3D arena.

Give the game a try. If you don't like it and you definitely feel like games like Halo 2 and 3 are superior, whether it be due to nostalgia or because you feel those games simply have a better ranking system and gameplay, that's fine. The Master Chief Collection is here for you. But you are part of the audience that has decided not to accept the changes - you cannot adapt, for lack of a better term - and you're the one that's going to suffer from it unfortunately.

For what it's worth, the players who tuned the new abilities in Halo 5 are the players who have been playing competitive Halo since the days of Halo 2.

How was this playlist not the first one completed for H5? It has had a large following since H2 and during peak H4 days, was by far the largest populated playlist. Idk what 343 has been up to as far as multiplayer design but getting rid of DMR starts for Multiplayer ( which I hope isn't the case for BTB since the large size of map justify it) is not a good start. I hope the BTB playlist, with its massively larger than normal maps is excluded from the extinct DMR starts and all the goodies are firmware updated rather soon. This is an unfinished game. Why did you release without the most wanted ( again by H4 player count) playlist?

BIG TEAM 4 LIFE-Bring back a BTB Skirmish ( Objective) playlist too. The playlist population can support two variations.

    Have you played Warzone?
  7.

I just wanted to say, this is the most expensive trash I've ever bought. The story is short and when I say short I went through the whole thing in about 5 hours. Now for the multiplayer. This game isn't even worth buying. I'm not saying this because I suck at the game. I placed in plat and was on the verge on moving to dimond when I got into a string of games where 2 people on my team quit in the first minute on the game. The weapons aren't balanced at all. The pistol is probally the best gun on the game and you start with it. With the pistol you can win just about any gun fight vs any gun other then the power weapons. The power weapons are a whole nother issue. If you play arean then you know you can't win arena with out power weapons. If your team doesn't get them then you lose. You really don't have a fighting chance. This is not a game of skills, it's not how well you shoot it's how well you can throw grenades. This was the most money I've ever wasted on a game and I won't be doing that again. I'll never buy a 343 game again and once Black Ops 3 and Starwars Battle Front come out I'll never touch this game again. Who are we kidding with these post it not like it matters. They got our money and that's game over. Thank you for destroying a classic and robbing my blind.

lmao you sound like you can't use a br or dodge grenades
  8. 1) What is this thrust thing that keeps happening!?

That is your Shoulder Bash. It activated because you were sprinting at full speed when you pressed melee - and you missed because of your aim. Shoulder Bash does a considerable amount of damage from the front, moreso than a simple melee, and knocks the enemy played back and disrupts their aim. From behind, Shoulder Bash is a one hit kill that also maintains your velocity and doesn't activate into an assassination.

It's not complicated at all - if you're sprinting at full speed you shoulder bash. If you aren't, you don't. If you miss then you suck, and if you make the tactical error of using that ability and die due to it, then that's simply a matter of skill level.

    2) Recon controls have been totally abandoned

Personally, I don't understand why people want to naturally put themselves at a disadvantage of needing to either Claw or let go if the thumbstick to melee, but if you have the inability to adapt to the control schemes...

    It's kind of your fault.

In any case, since controllers are now fully customisable this won't be an issue for long for you.

    3) Maps are boring and no weapons on any of them

Where are the weapons?! The first 5 games I played the only weapon I managed to pick up was a plasma pistol? What about the snipers? The energy swords? The rocket launchers? Where is everything!?

On the map. Halo 5 literally has glowing icons on the map, timers, and an announcer dedicated to telling people when a weapon spawns - if you can't find it, that really is your fault. Apart from the weapon pads, there are also weapons such as shotguns, scattershots, carbines, BR's etc. spread across the map, and it's your job to learn the map and know where weapons spawn.

    4) Playlists are awful

I despise 4v4 team slayer but I'm basically forced to play it now because there is no alternative. Where is the big team battle? I used to love that playlist because you could sample all the vehicles and weapons and just have fun. And no I'm not talking about that war zone crap where nine tenths of the enemies are 'easy' difficult AI and you can barely even find anyone on the other team.

It's true that Big Team isn't in the game - that'll be released later on. TS isn't being forced upon you, there's Breakout if you wish, and Team Arena has CTF games in it.

But Warzone? 9/10 of the enemies are 'easy' difficulty AI? Well, first of all, no, there's perhaps around 10 mobs scattered around the map at any given moment along with 2 or 3 bosses, the mobs being Heroic difficulty while the bosses basically instakilling anyone but the best who are trying to solo them. As for finding enemies, if you REALLY can't do that, there's somethign seriously wrong with your game sense. It shouldn't be hard for you to know where the enemies are...

A lot of your complaints seem to stem from a lack of understanding of the game's flow. That's fine, but it certainly isn't justification for stating that the game is ruined due to YOUR lack of understanding.

     no bleed through

    You're wrong.
