Caboose The Ace
Herro one and welcome to the latest smashup! Article one: Red Fly wants to re-pitch the cancelled Darth Maul gameIn a spark of good news this week, Red Fly Studio is looking to try and reboot the cancelled Darth Maul game. Previously Red Fly worked on the Wii version of the Force Unleashed 2. After that they were contracted by Lucas Arts to start working on a Darth Maul game. The game reached the early stages of development but what scrapped due to the Disney takeover of Star Wars. But recently during a Reddit AMA, Red Fly developer Dan Borth answered some very interesting questions regarding the project.According to Borth, Red Fly is working on a “next gen” demo of the game to pitch to Electronic Arts. “We have been burning a candle for this game since it was killed and we hope we can get it turned back on again. If that is to happen, we need to approach EA with a demo that will impress them. I think we have that or are close to it. Still it is completely not up to us.”According to Borth, the game will see a young Darth Maul aged between “9 or 11” through to adulthood and before the events of The Phantom Menace. “We wanted to show what he went through to become a Sith,” Borth stated. “Showcase the torture The Emperor put him through. Show how you as the player would have made the same mistakes and ended up a Sith. Playing as a young Maul you would hopefully make the player feel his pain and rage as he was brutally exposed day by day by The Emperor.”So it looks like the Darth Maul game, is not so dead after all. Article two: Assassins Creed Syndicate had the worst series launch in the series historyRecently the latest entry in the Assassins Creed series, Syndicate was released, but despite topping charts, it was later revealed that the latest entry in the series had the worst launch in the franchises history. The main downward spiral in sales comes surprisingly from the Uk. (Where the game is set) In fact, the only major Assassins Creed it has beaten is the last gen exclusive Assassins Creed Rouge. Even the original Assassins Creed beat the sales numbers of Syndicate despite being an unproven IP.But keep in mind the charts do not include digital sales or the Pc version. Though the results so far do not show a promising result so far for Assassin Creed Syndicate.Article three: A 103 Year-Old Titanic Cracker Sells for $23,000(Now, this is not exactly gaming related, but it did give me a good laugh so it earns its place in this week’s smashup)A 103 year old cracker that was originally part of a lifeboat survival kit has sold for £23,000. James Fenwick, a passenger onboard the SS Carpathia, which aided the rescue efforts of the doomed ocean liner, the Titanic. During this time he retrieved the cracker from one of the survival kits. Auctioneer Andrew Aldridge had this to say on the matter "It is incredible that this biscuit has survived such a dramatic event."And that about wraps this weeks smashup, thanks for reading!Source one: http://uk.ign.com/articles/2015/10/26/red-fly-wants-to-re-pitch-cancelled-darth-maul-gameSource two: http://www.destructoid.com/assassin-s-creed-syndicate-had-the-worst-uk-launch-in-series-history-317656.phtmlSource three: http://uk.ign.com/articles/2015/10/26/a-103-year-old-titanic-cracker-sold-for-23000 Edited October 31, 2015 by Caboose The Ace
