  1. Great thread and you basicly listed everything I have wanted added since halo 3, also the coding with the 4 ODST's on that firefight map is probably different then an actual editable firefight map. And I also like your idea on wreckage as I always wanted to build a map inside a shipyard, halo reach's map didn't quite fulfill that feeling. Anyways nice post, and since your new, welcome!

I'd like to see the return of 2 characters. The Arbiter and the Didact. If you think about it the Arbiter is still on Earth because his half of the Forward Unto Dawn got through the Slip space portal in Halo 3. The Didact should return because he is far too important to just kill off like it seems apparent in Halo 4. But I think that he the orange spiral he fell into was a Slip space portal and he is just lost in space somewhere. He is pretty much the most important Antagonist of the entire Halo story and I think it would be a great shame if 343 was to discard the Didact. Halo 4 is the first in the Reclaimer trilogy and I would really like to see the Didact and the Arbiter in at least Halo 5 if not the probable epic end to the story in Halo 6. The Hornet from Halo 3 would be nice to see again and I think more customization in the armour in multiplayer would be nice, like the option to change the colour of separate limbs etc. Also I prefer the Xp that was used in Halo Reach to the new SP (Spartan Points) in Halo 4, maybe going back to that could happen. But apart from those things, 343 you're doing a great job! Thanks.

Sorry to double post but the arbiter isn't on earth, if you read the books he's back on sanghellos.

  2. 1- You have three large maps designed specifically for Forge. They may not be perfect, but they get the job done. There are plenty of creative maps out there that utilize the canvases beautifully, you just need to know where to look. And if you dont like the tunnels on Impact, then don't use them. They're not the only pieces available. Also, Forge World is impossible to create with Halo 4's graphics engine. The Xbox would explode.

2- The wait can be annoying, but it's needed. Rendering the lighting mid-construction lets you know you haven't broken the dynamic lighting yet. You WANT to see the lighting being rendered, it means your map is looking how it's supposed to. It's just the way things work. Besides, some people want to see where the shadows are while building their map so they can make the most out of the shadows.

3- This seems to be more of a personal preference than anything. I for one like the new looks of the blocks (for the most part). They could have done better with the unnecessary polygons to help framerate, but it's not that big of a deal. And again, if you don't like the tunnels, then don't use them. Most forgers frown on "tube maps" anyway.

4- The shifting pieces is to prevent certain modding in the game. Besides, the shift is usually so minor that no one will notice while playing the map. If it still bugs you, there are ways to limit the shifting.

I think they could put a forge world map in Halo 4. It doesn't need to be the size of forge world but just something larger then the 3 included maps. And honestly who used all of forge world anyways? I would like a map maybe a third of the size of forge world which I think is doable.

  3. People have been complaining about forge for awhile now and after reading and having experience with the game I think i can make a list of the problems:

    1) Maps. There are no maps really intended for forge. People can argue all they want about impact and ravine but neither are as good as forgeworld. Impact has so much potential, but the blocks look so ugly and you dont have much creativity on the map. Everything is like connect the dots using tunnels. And ravine is just to small. I would have rather had a new forgeworld then 3 small forge maps.

    2) Lighting. Great idea, terribly implemented. It had so much potential but somehow 343 messed it up. First off it should render the lighting at the end of editing or in the start menu. It has to render the lighting everytime i switch from monitor to player and then it takes 3-4 seconds just to render something. It may not seem like much but think about it this way, lets say I build a map in 2 hours, i switch about 15-20 times an hour so lets do some math. 3x20= 60x2= 2 minutes. So if i spend 2 hours building a forge map i spend 2 minutes watching it render lighting. Thats not much time, but its annoying nonetheless. It should be able to be toggled.

    3) Ugly. Most the items in this version of forge are just ugly. Impact is the worst offender here as those UNSC tunnels are just....UHG! We all complained about halo reachs forge blocks but those are way better then Halo 4s.

    4) Items get unaligned. This is the worst. I spend 3-4 hours building an awesome map then the next day when i go to add something my stuff is all uneven. Then i have to go to every item and put it back to how it was. This is worst when you build flat stuff like a griffball court.

Anyways thats the end of my rant. Most this stuff could be fixed by a TU, and after forge 3.0, this makes me want Halo 5 more and more.

  4.

Loadouts are fine, as they are easily rendered useless by Gametype pre-set loadouts, like Halo: Reach's matchmaking. Having gametypes with Played Loadouts is fine, but lacking a playlist like the all-new Team Throwdown (YES!) is the main issue.

That's true but it makes me feel like I'm playing "other FPS games" and I have always felt like halos gameplay was based around where which weapon spawns. I still know where the energy sword spawns on Everymap on halo 3. That was part of the fun to me, just running wildly to the sword. That doesn't happen when everyone has a DMR

  5. Well I would also like AI in maps. I have always wanted to spawn a bunch of marines and a bunch of convenant and watch the battle unfold. Sadly without modding that isn't possible, I know they wouldn't be able to add this as an update but halo 5?

  6. well i do admit i love halo 4 and think it is the best yet though 343 did do things wrong but u must forgive this is the first halo apart from cea they have ever made halo 5 will be better

That is true and I don't think it was necessarily 343 Industries fault. I think the reason it was sort of bland was because Microsoft didn't want them to change to much stuff as it seemed to work. I can honestly say after playing halo since 2003, halo needs a change. And by change I mean like a new faction, or the next halo should take place in a different time(forerunner flood war?) Halo 4 didn't ruin the series for me at all, it has just started to show the age of the gameplay, I mean we have been doing the same stuff on halo and fighting the same enemies for quite some time and I hope 343 does something huge and shocks the gaming world.

  7. Well after bungie and money- I mean Microsoft split I thought it would be the end of bungie, but luckily it looks like their back on track. After reading and looking at screenshots of destiny, I can honestly say I haven't been this excited about a game in awhile. Not only does it seem to have a deep and interesting universe, it also has a shooter and MMO mix which sounds interesting. In a way I'm glad bungie and Microsoft split, as now bungie can go in a different direction. Hopefully this doesn't turn out like halo reach; an overhyped half-baked piece of trash.

  8. Halo 4 is like the Scatter-shot; it's a great game, but it's inconsistent, and as such, most of the time doesn't compare to many other games.

343's game could have been amaaaaaazing, but they didn't have enough time to work on it. Forge 3.0 is a practical downgrade from 2.0, Theater is just bad, Matchmaking and gameplay has soooo many bad things that could be fun.

Loadouts? Awesome! The lack of a classic playlist isn't. Ordinance? Awesome! Except the lack of a competitive version doesn't exist. Competition? Sadly, CSR isn't visible, which is BAAAD.

Guns? Unbalanced. WHy use the LR, BR and Carbine when you have a DMR? Shotguns as well. Why use any when you can have one with massive range in your pocket?

Maps? Bad. Most are BTB sized, and most have slow gameplay; it's been based around Dynamic spawns, which sucks. WE NEED BTB!

If 343 spent more time, it'll be a great game. Even better if they had a great updating system that can allow them to upgrade many things in the game to what they should've been when the game released.

I agree with most things you said other then loadouts. Do you remember the days when people used to scramble for power ups or overshield? Well now that there are loadouts those days are gone. Now if you want a DMR, yo spawn with a DMR. Other then that I completely agree especially with forge 3.0. Sure they added lighting, but anytime you switch from monitor to player it has to render the lighting. I wish there was an option to turn off the lighting because when I play with friends it becomes insanely annoying.

Also, I think ordinance has a lot of untapped potential. It would be cool if as an ordinance drop you could drop a warthog to your position. That would change the course of the battle, and would add anew layer of strategy to the game.

  9. The Taco returns!!!!!!

Your comments are spot on, Halo 4 is potentially the best game ever on the 360, it's just that 343 needed another 6/9 months to finish it, but obviously Microsoft wouldn't allow that. The problem with the Halo 4 we have now its around 75% finished, and with this it is driving the players away. Fans are getting bored of Halo 4, even more than they did with Reach, isn't that a scary thought???

People will disagree with my comments about game being incomplete but here is one example

Remember Frankie saying the ranking system that will ship with the game will appeal to casual and hardcore gamers? Where is it? Oh yeah it's coming in March ish!!!!!

Halo 4 is a brilliant game, or would of been if it was complete.

I completely agree with everything you said, it's always felt like its almost at the level of previous halos but missing it by an inch. And I would have rather waited a few months and get a polished game, then get a half baked game.

  10. Well I haven't been on this forum in like a year and I apoligize in advance for my grammar, I'm using my ipad, but back to the topic.

I don't know if its just me but halo 4 doesn't seem as good as previous halos. In my opinion they butchered forge because there are no maps suited for it and they tried to make it to much like COD. I'll admit it, I like COD, but if I wanted to play call of duty, I would play call of duty. Halo seems to be taking a step in the wrong direction with halo 4. They added classes which completely messes up what halo originally was about. Not only the multiplayer is the problem though. Halo 4's campaign just doesn't keep me entertained it has a good story but it seems so repetitive. Here's what happens on every campaign level: you fight some covenant, then some promeatheans, then more convenant, then you see the didact, then cortana makes a portal and you go through it. I'm not saying I hate halo 4, it's just I had high expections for the game and 343 kind of let me down. That is all I'm not trying to sound like a fanboy but that's my opinion.

  11. The M45 is amazing. I just figured this out. Normaly I avoid power weapons, but today I went in arena and picked one up and I got a killing frenzy. I would have gone longer but I ran out of ammo
