About Me

Hey guys im known as A R C A S I U S to the wider Halo community, formerly known as AUS Keanu 15.

So a little bit about myself... well i'm 19, here in Australia and I gotta tell you no, we don't all ride kangaroos to school! My interests include Acting, Soccer, Halo (obviously) Reading (The twilight saga. JOOOOKES! I'd rather chew my fingers off, action thrillers mainly) Swimming, watching movies (Sci fi and action are my favourite genre) and university as i'm studying aerospace engineering.

So how I got into Halo... well my first Halo was Halo 3 ODST as a friend had referred me to it while I had a stay in Los Angeles. It was an absolute blast, playing firefight with my bro, finding ways to break the maps etc. Then soon after Halo reach came out and I was hooked. I absolutely loved Halo Reach. Hell I played the crapes out of team slayer up until the very minute Halo 4 was released. Unfortunately though I never got the opportunity to play Halo 3 so when people went on about how much better it was than Halo Reach, I had no idea what they were talking about. But yeah I was never much of a forger, I think I created one map which never got released and then my brother went and deleted it by "accident" so I never forged again as it seemed like a waste of time. Then Halo 4 came out with the ravine and Impact pallets and I was overcome with bucket loads of inspiration for maps. I was really impressed with all the features especially dynamic lighting. This was the first reason I got into forge. Secondly was because for some reason Halo 4 matchmaking is ridiculously laggy for me so it is rare that ill get a game where everybody has a good connection. So its pointless for me to take matchmaking seriously when I lose almost every gun battle because of lag. But I loved Halo so much so I just started forging.

The map im probably most proud of is the map I just completed called "Anchorage" and it was inspired mainly by the burj al arab hotel in dubai. I wanted to create something in forge that was unlike anything people had seen. The norm these days is to create box maps where people allow their maps to be shaped by the geometry of the objects at hand rather than being creative (if that makes sense...) so I wanted to step away from that in order to create maps that are memorable. Which brings me to the code I always go by in forge and that's that Aesthetics = Gameplay. You literally cannot have one without the other. If you have great gameplay and boring aesthetics ie: box maps, then people will play max 3-4 games on it then move onto the next box map. But if you have a map that not only plays great, but looks great too, then people are more likely to share this map with their friends. A lot more likely... and isn't that what we want as forgers? To have our maps shared as far and wide as possible? So I like to make my maps memorable by being beautiful while not compromising gameplay and it is actually really simple to do.

If you have any questions for me send me an inbox on here, forgehub or to my gamertag: A R C A S I U S and ill be sure to reply :)

Happy forging!
