  1. just thought I would post this, probably goes in announcments but can not post there. It appears MLG has signed their end of the 2013 console deal. This deal does not include halo, and a large part of the community is quitting, others are simply looking for other leagues that have halo on their circuit. Halo was a game that started amazing and through its own creators and a company that was built from the ground up to resurrect it it ended up being a lower quality game every year. Our community, has always had better ideas then original creators. Ideas that could of been implemented at any time and ideas that could of helped this game flourish. In the way Reach's removal of bloom in the MLG play list came to late it would appear this last attempt at a TU for a less then perfect game is likewise to little and to late. MLG has been the home for the competitive halo community since day 1 and to not have it there now leaves me with the question of who am i or we to blame? MS for allowing the deal with VG to go through knowing of MLG's existence? Or maybe the community itself for its never ending bickery between mlg and casual members because a few 12 year olds repping mlg icons had big mouths and talked a lot of **** online. Should I blame bungie for Reach? Should I blame them for taking the time to make odst instead of just reading every thread on the forum and making reach better. 343i for not coming through for MS for not hiring people qualified to make the next halo game. At the end of the day, even if we had someone to blame it feels like their wallets outweigh our opinions. At this point, I am unaware if I plan on keeping my copy of halo. I'm going to, like many others, skulk around for a league with a decent competitive population. Preferably that has tournaments where the players who win, win. Unlike the VG tournament, that simply requires a player to play all day every day for a week straight. That takes no skill. Last Chance 343i, make this TU good or consider halo 4 dead.
  2. any news on this info? been a few days, dont seem to see anything yet
  3. so if anyone is unaware, MLG (mlgpro.com check it out if you dont know) normally runs competitive halo. Virgin Gaming (Infinity tournaments on halo 4's play list) has a contract making it difficult. The tournaments end not to far off and I'm unaware of any renewel. Treyarch, CoD devs, has shown a lotof interest in working with MLG and 343i has aswell but microsofts deal with VG created a lot of backlash so VG tweeted the CEO of MLG that they might be able to create some sort of deal. That was days ago and from start to finish I didnt see 343i actually have any input. Anyone know of any?
  4. as far as dmr vs br DMR: -kill time 1.4 seconds -longer range than the BR -single shot registration -you don't get unscoped when shot at BR: -kill time 1.7 seconds -larger reticle means easier to aim at closer ranges -doesnt have the range the dmr has, so challenging a dmr or sniper at great distances is a serious gamble, especially being new to MLG -on the 5th shot only 1 bullet has to hit the head for the kill, not all 3 everything else your pretty much right. Both rifles have a place in the sandbox, but the dmr should be a pick up since it shoots farther and faster. Though I dont see that happening, actually making us spawn with both, can be an easy solution.
  5. like he said, MLG playlist is for those who want a challenge and want to work with players as a team and work towards a common goal. To get good at MLG its a mix of taking the time to learn the game and its mechanics, and being skilled with each weapon knowing where it has its advantages on the map and where the angles are that your going to be able to help your team shoot from, the difference between the dmr and br in short being for example DMR: -kill time 1.4 seconds -longer range than the BR -single shot registration -you don't get unscoped when shot at BR: -kill time 1.7 seconds -larger reticle means easier to aim at closer ranges -doesnt have the range the dmr has, so challenging a dmr or sniper at great distances is a serious gamble, especially being new to MLG -on the 5th shot only 1 bullet has to hit the head for the kill, not all 3 This is all information I learned in an afternoon, i simply did a little research. After that, halo is a game that rewards players who: -control the power weapons (meaning you know where they spawn and when, as they are on a timer, things like rockets or sniper being game changing weapons, something that can change the score from one team winning to the other team winning) -sit on top of the map, height advantage is key -don't fight obvious battles your going to lose -its a game type that requires a team effort to win, you can fail your team as much as they can fail you learn to strafe, which is just a fancy way of saying try your best no get shot when people are shooting at you. Get a surround sound headset, astro a40's being the common headset for MLG but any headset with a mixamp usually can do the trick. Having surround sound takes some of the weight off your teammates to call everything out because you can simply hear direction, but learn call outs, and describe things as best you can. Learn to call out when a battle starts, or the second you see something because your skilled MLG players are looking to back you up, something much harder to do when your already dead. Each life is a new beginning and its how you play each life that is going determine how well you do at the end of the game. In MLG winning is winning, Having your entire team be +15 is pointless if you lose by a single flag cap or a few seconds with the ball. Basically its team orientated halo and MLG will adjust the maps to encourage movement, map control, and conflict. Not much to it after that (^.^)b
  6. the problem is the kids hiding around corners with bolt shot and promethian vision, or if they just run away while one shot sometimes youll turn a corner and they will come right back at you with a charged bs. Of course there are ways to combat it, but im not going to assume every kid playing is an *** hole looking to get you close to they can kill you with their one shot kill starting weapon.
  7. good call on UT, granted those things were in UT, the pick ups were still pick ups which is the way halo should remain, not have ordnance's shoot down overshields to grab at will. Putting them on the map, regardless of the function afterwards is what causes conflict between players to happen. It would be ignorant to say that whats changed in halo is soley a rip off of call of duty. I use Call of Duty as a comparison because its what is being catered. If UT was a s popular as CoD or more right now I may have even used that in some examples but the fact remains that certain mechanics that are used in Call of Duty we have only seen added to Halo after they became popular by it. I have no problem with the bxr, it was the greatest glitch in halo history. An accidental mechanic that required a large amount of skil to use effectively. Everyone could do it, but doing it quickly and accurately especially adding the r,x at the end for the double shot. What was an accident became incredibly popular and instead of bungie rolling with their mistake and realizing the popularity it gained and implementing combos into other halos they simply brushed it off. I think had this been added to other halos they could have been better and B,X,R could of been a huge part of the halo communities online experience. You can't attest to why "flag dropping" was removed from the game, unless you have a link saying that it was removed to encourage teamwork, it is far more likely that 343 removed in an attempt to prevent the conversation all together. If your trying to inspire teamwork what better way than to be able to not only drop the flag, but actually throw it to a teammate the way we can now throw the oddball accross the map. Tossing the oddball alone is a great idea, and like i said, we will see some real globetrotter style ball passing at MLG events that I'm very much looking forward to. You have to remember flag juggling is a trade off and is by no means has anything to do with boosting in any way shape or form. How you got that idea is beyond me but I can assure it is not a part of the same conversation. When you juggle your faster, when you hold it your slower, but invisible. Now we always have a marker over our heads removing the need to control different sections of the map case a team trys to sneak one past you. I personally, especially on narrows ctf halo 3, would walk the flag a solid quarter of the way 9/10 because by the time they realized I was underneath after looking for me I could be half way home by juggling from the enemies R2. I was faster, but now the entire team is gunning for me knowing exactly where i am. That was balanced. Speed for invisibility is a perfect balance and there are many still confused as to why people did not understand that, including myself. I understand that we can now carry a pistol while carrying the flag but the grenades in my belt, rockets on my back, all become useless. In fact, having a power weapon discourages a player from picking up the flag for fear of losing or not being able to use that weapon. Meaning team work and game play are forced to be slowed down. Bungie failed halo, that is without a shadow of a doubt. Look at the game as if each copy is a peice of stock. Many of your halo fans, soft and hardcore, are willing to purchase the game from day one without a single review written or read. Many, only see a few commercials. We the people, buy games expecting them to play as advertised. Halo Reach was released with a mess of ugly silver forge maps and following the release a map pack instantly became available. Something 343 has done with halo 4. Not because it has anything to do with halo, but because developers of many games are big on online content for games now but that means putting out a game that you are already planning on adding to and charging more for. Something we have never seen before recent years. The hardcore fans but their faith in Bungies hands at the removal of the BR and addition of the DMR, the gun itself as we can see now, can have manageable bloom even when rapid firing but the bloom that bungie implemented was ridiculous. At point blank, a player who has one shot left you could be spamming with their head being the only thing filling your reticle but you could still be required to shoot 3 times just like if you were shooting his chest. The games bloom and math took into account where your bullet was going to hit, taking the direction of the bullet away from the player unless he severely paced his shots which really would only make a difference when being shot at, not so much shooting a player who would be sprinting. If you saw a player sprinting accross the map it made no sense to put 1-2 shots in when i could easily put 3-5 just by spamming. With hitscan this meant if the reticle was red, it counted. That, in itself sir, is a failed product. Your information about the bxr is incredibly wrong as bxr was allowed at every mlg event including bxb, and xxr (double shot). I myself watched RS shook one hold his control like a **** tard when he played but he double shotted and bxrd more people than i have ever seen happen in a single FFA. Every shot was rrxyyrrx (double shot yy weapon double shot) and no player has ever been disqualified from an MLG event for using the bxr, bxb, or double shot. You yourself can go pull up all the tournament play you want from mlg and witness first hand. Super bouncing was not allowed at MLG for obvious reasons. the 20$ comment is just like i said. I'm willing to pay more for a finished product that was properly designed and tested. Especially if putting out forge maps, followed by a map release and a TU is going to become the norm for halo and other fps's alike. I dont think the graphcis are all the mich better, agreed just more polygons. The Binary rifle is OP's because of 2 major factors. One, being a one shot kill from any range and two, the fact that we are no longer unscoped when shot at means any player can take his time and as long as he or she can aim faster than your average player can get 5 complete shots off. Making the gun extremely easy to use. Which is unlike a sniper rifle in any other game. Sniper rifles are meant to be extremely powerful and extremely hard to use but all snipers require 2 shots for halo. The fact that you have 2 bullets instead of 4 is irrelevant because of the killing power. I can shoot someone twice in the chest with human sniper rifle or once in the chest with the binary and end up with the same amount of kills. The beam rifle is as powerful as a sniper rifle should get, if you make a mistake or miss your headshot the gun allows you to fire off a second shot, one int he past you couldnt aim very well because typically you would be taking fire but forces the gun to overheat for a couple seconds and become useless. The gun requires no ammo at all but simply has a battery. I at no point claim that the boltshot is not over powered. It is extremely over powered. If you read the post as you claim to have along with any other thread ive posted in about it you would see that. The boltshot and plasma pistol should be removed from the loadouts as removing just boltshot will issue in a new age of noob combo users. I say eliminate them both from the loadouts and just solve the problem. With the power the plasma pistol has I wonder why more people dont use it, and why it isint included in an ordnance. the jetpack breaks the map because halo has always been a game where sitting at the highest point on the map and having the most powerful weapon is strong way to win. Removing the difficult climb to the top by fighting the other team means players dont have to work to gain the top of the map. Having your team on top and the other team on the bottom was the goal. i.e. High ground, heretic, construct and narrows from halo 3 and countdown, powerhouse, and sword base from halo reach. As an avid MLG player I can tell you halo 101 is dont ever give up your high ground unless you have to. If you played onslaught in halo 3 MLG I would go nuts seeing players jump from top A or B with full shield to the bottom simply to chase a single player. So, removing this climb defeats the battle to gain the high ground. Also, with insta spawn because players spawn before my shield can recharge on maps like Haven it is entirely possible, and ive done this myself and had it done to me, for a player to spawn, jet pack into the air and clean up their own kill. Removing the need for team work, assists, and call outs. Why do I need you to clean up the kill if its a one shot I can get on my own the second I spawn. Halo being a game where players are judged by individual games it actually makes more sense for me to keep the information from you provided i know im going to be able to get that kill. It takes longer for me to actually tell you where this weak player is, than it does for me to insta spawn, jet pack into the air, and kill him myself. Why I feel like it actually defeats some of the bridges and ramps that the developers put in is obvious, because they are "skipable" and the ramp, bridge, or lift, is just pointless to a jetpack user who can defy the maps rules. If I'm underneath haven it is incredibly convenient for me to jetpack up from anywhere on the map, especially the open ramp side where many players are forced to take a 2-4 second walk up a ramp, your average jet pack player can cut this time easily in half and just jump and lift up. Possibly leaving a spawning teammate on the floor of the map while your getting chased hes just flying away. regeneration field is just stupid, the thrust pack should not put you in third person and the rest are fine when implemented right but allowing a player to spawn with boltshot and promethian vision is far from the correct way to implement them right. While we can agree to disagree that i clearly dont care how my thoughts are formed, I think ive far from proven that im not trying to just "post random **** as if it was fact" the fact that you think any mlg events where a player used a bxr caused that player to be disqualified is laughable. However I dont know how long you have been around and its very possible that your just wrong and dont know it in which case acting like an *** hat and calling you out is pointless. Just google it, promise it was used at events. if you have no problem with instaspawn. You sir, are the only one. the sandbox I'm referring to, is the sandbox of weapons, AA's, and power ups. Forge is an editing tool implemented by bungie to give us free rain to build our own maps but these tools while many are creative, are incredibly uncolorful. In halo 3, it took glitching to really make a map look amazing. Halo reach didnt add any color and again, had the nerve to release with forge maps while claiming that they were "remakes." This "tool" gave us free range over the entire SANDBOX and let us put what ever was inside the SANDBOX where we wanted on the map, with as much ammo as we wanted. We could control when these SANDBOX items would spawn, meaning If we wanted to make a gametype that started half the map with rockets and 2 minutes in the map only had rockets on it. I could do it. I could even make them spawn out of phase with eachother. In reach we could spawn with AA's or pick them up. MLG elected to put jetpacks on countdown, Giving a player an oppertunity to fly around for a single life, and forcing them to pick it up and not spawn with it meant it was more powerful and ecouraged map movement. With the jetpack I could jetpack from big door to cubby, if i did it when a player was sitting there with rockets, i would lose my jetpack and would be back at square one. Meaning I couldnt abuse the jetpack for fear of losing it and losing my advantage to move around the map faster than the other players. Bungie failed halo because with more and more releases you had more and more people complaining about the mechanics. To appease the flag droppers a simple toggle could have been implemented but never was. For dmr users who hated bloom, bungie updated the MLG play list to remove bloom after repeatedly stating that it could not be done while only after a player modded it out and put it online did bungie admit defeat. That update was to little to late as the mlg community including myself had already given up on reach and was shortly removed from the circuit after. For those who hated the br, and those who loved it, doing what 343 did putting them both in was very possible for reach but was just never done. Instead a finicky assination system was added to make assassinations "look cooler" but at the same time would usually force you to do an animation even when you didnt want to, leaving you vulnerable mid game. Tapping the button ever so lightly could get you a classic assassination but it was never garunteed. From halo 3, players called for a utility weapon with good registration. We got the dmr with the crazy amount of bloom it had. That was far from the answer many people wanted and some if not many chose to not even pick up the game for that reason. Friends who I had played with for years waited until they played at my hosue before deciding to get it or not at 2 of my friends who are avid halo fans and have halo 4 took one look at it and said yea **** that noise. The ranking system we had in the past worked and I personally would welcome a halo 2 or 3 style ranking system any day of the week at this point. I have not bothered to travel to a different website to check my "halo rank" as many of your casual and softcore players will not do because to many the information is meaningless. I hope we do get a good ranking system, but only time will tell. ----------------------------------------- Fighting over map control in infinity slayer is nonexistent. I played a game last night on complex where 90% of the battle took place in the factory because every time we killed one of their players that is exactly where they would stay. Hidden away in the back corner of the map with a close game full of people I don;t know leaves me with the only option to push on in and do my best to help them, If you have seen only 6-7 ordnance drops in halo 4 you either have played 3-6 halo 4 games since its release, or you just suck. In which this thread and these posts are clearly not for you. In infinity slayer I can average 2 ordnance's per game and in objective 3-5. The sticky launcher, rail gun, shotgun, and beam rifle I personally get frequently in my ordnance's. Taking the need for them to be on the map, and several times a game I have an ordnance just sitting waiting to be used because I am currently already in possession of a power weapon, be it from the map or another player. All those weapons mentioned above are power weapons and though we do not spawn with them, having them sent to us via air mail takes away from players know when and where they will spawn removing conflict from the game and make setting up for anything other than team shooting utterly pointless. May I suggest you learn how to play the game before you critic it? yes, softcore is a solid description of a player who loves a game but doesnt play it competitively. I'm speaking purely on multiplayer but above and beyond that I'm not talking about anyone. Softcore multiplayers play for fun, with their friends, with winning in mind but by no means see it as a requirement and can have just as much fun playing griffball as they can playing MLG or zombies. The person is their to play and pure and simple. He or she does not check waypoint for ranks, does not go on forums and post and really just enjoys halo for halo. This same person however, owns call of duty, a wii, and a playstation. This type of person, is also the majority and this companies will cater to them as they will purchase the game if it looks like something they will be into and what better way to do that than to combined something you know they love with features from other games that you know are becoming more and more popular. Me swearing, or using the word noob by no means has anything to do with bashing anything. I didnt come in here saying "343 is ******* garbage and halo 4 is for noobs so **** them fix the game" I might of said something around "this game needs some real ******* fixes because it can potentially be awesome if people stopped being such lazy pieces of **** and paid more attention to detail, took the time to test things properly, and put out a finished product" which is my opinion, and im entitled to it. So here i am, writing a short novel, trying to express that opinion, no matter how jumbled my **** may be. I at no point say "loadouts are a cheap mechanic" I have stated that the game has some cheap mechanics which I listed above, biggest probably being the promethian vision, boltshot off spawn combo. Loadouts, I also say nowhere should not be in the game. I simply said they should be very limited to what comes with them and limited to what playlists give you access to your personal loadouts vs the settings your playing actually determining the rules of engagement. Athletes are forced to wear the same style of clothing when playing, the same pads, the same gear so yes. I'm not going to sit here and argue that using a nike head band vs using an adidias headband is the same difference as a br and a dmr. The headband collects sweat either way, the br is better for close range due to its larger reticle, the dmr has a faster killing time and shoots a lot farther but has a smaller reticle. Players can "train" however they want, just like athletes. MLG players will spend hours in octogan or FFA's spawning with snipe and br/dmr to perfect and practive their shots. At an event, up until halo 4, players still started with the same settings. Game loadouts, are by no means the same as personal loadouts. I'm not sure what world you live in where sporting events don't have weight classes or restrictions on height or size but weather its written in the rules or not doesnt mean its not true. Basketball is filled with tall people, football is filled with big *** line backers, fast fit as **** receivers and scrawny little quaterbacks that can throw a ball a million miles. Theres a reason the linebackers are huge and basketball players are tall. If they werent, they wouldnt be playing those sports and though it is basically forced you dont get your contract, players put them selves on the same playing field as their competition WILLINGLY. You dont see any NFL teams testing with slow big receivers or basketball looking for as may short guys that can handle the ball well. To be on a level playing field with these guys you have to put yourself there. Thats why I'm posting, im trying to get us back to that halo competitive level that still encouraged a ton of fun from solid game mechanics just like halo 1 and 2. of course loadouts are a game mechanic. And yes, if im on the fornt lanes and have an ak47 in a war and the other guys got a tank your damn right im going to ******* run away. What would you do? challenge a tank and throw away the life that your suppose to be using to not only protect the people you care about but lead your team to victory? Your ak47 is the BR and your tank is the Human Sniper Rifle. So no, im going to run around the corner, get closer and if i CAN, take you out before you can even get a shot off. Challenging you directly is suicide especially at a distance. this is just an incredibly ignorant paragraph that I'm going to go against my better judgement and address. Unlocking weapons has nothing to do with anything, you clearly don't understand the concept of a utility weapon, nor do you understand the difference between the BR and the DMR and how they function. No one is saying your quote about being only good with br or dmr, go find it and get back to me. I'm not going to wait, but encourage you to go find it as if you took the time you would never come back and post here again. The halo 4 DMR actually has the same kill time as the halo 2 BR. The halo 4 BR has a slightly slower kill time, falling in at a 1.7 speed while the halo 4 DMR sits at a sexy 1.4 speed. The dmrs biggest downside is the small reticle. Where at close range(or any range for that matter) the BRs 3 shot burst has individual hitscan registration. So the first bullet has a hitscan bullet path that will hit, just as much as the following 2 more bullets fromt he burst each have their own bullet paths. That are hitscan. Hitscan means its going to hit if my reticle is lined up with you when I shoot. Theres no, "oh your far away so i should lead my shots" The reason the precision weapons are the most talked about is because they are what are the main weapons that were never intended to be such. Even the BR was not a starting weapon until team hardcore and mlg. Even then, in team hardcore, the br was used for larger maps, like accension. Your making it sound like people want the precision rifles to be the only weapons in the game. They are just the only weapons that are effective at mid to long range, by design. Blame 343 and bungie for that one, not us, not that it doesnt make sense. Should we go to a call of duty style play and let players spawn with shotguns too? We boarder line do already, the boltshot, which is why we are here. No one is saying halo 4 sucks. We are saying it needs a lot of little tweaks in this upcoming TU to be the game that everyone wants it to be. A good example would be Halo 3 gaurdian 2v2. Having the oppertunity to play pistola and sk, as well as t2 and elumnite I can tell you for certain, that spawning with AR's against people sitting on snipe tower turns the game into us looking for long range weapons otherwisethey just sit there, wait for sniper and pick us off as we move around the map. At best, we could find a single long range rifle and then one of us would be forced to try and sneak over while one distracted. Being skilled players both myself and them when it came to halo 3 as I got to play with top players quite frequently I can assure you this tactic rarely worked. Both games we lost, but both games we lost under 7 kills. On the rare occurance that we would get them off snipe tower they would tend to have the lead, meaning they could set up gold and we would still have to go to them. what makes me an expert is the time and attention I have put into halo multiplayer. I have actually never even sat through an entire halo story line as it is not why I play. Halo 4 being that first exception because my friends insisited i joined them. I would love for an oppertunity to talk to the developers and go over a few things because I feel as I'm sure 75% of the people who will read this can agree that a lot of what i have said is right on the money. I spend my money on the game if push came to shove do you think for a single second I couldnt get a hold of a single developer form 343? Developers build the games, that doesnt mean they should decide how they work just because they know how to type information into a computer. I never once stated I "know whats best" but plenty of people agree with me to make me certainly feel like I'm on the right track. The community itself shouldnt be the ones deciding on how the game comes out either. The game should simply be well made, be given fine attention to detail and a company that we are paying so much money to should be putting out a finished product. I am by no means heated or upset. I'm a customer with an opinion. With MLG bravo at the helm of the TU i have incredibly high hopes. How else do I get my voice out for what i want other than to come here and spark a conversation? Should i just write them a letter? It is just as you said, a lot of your points, though not invalid, invalid being the wrong word, are just not accurate to halos history and as to whats going on in halo 4. If halo 4 is the first halo you dislike, being the game that has the most customization and the largest SANDBOX, i really dont know what your thinking. MLG Bravo is working with 343, and Puckett wants us helping them come up with MLG settings. The more input we have from experienced veterans the better we can potentially be. Should I take all the knoweldge I clearly have and lock it away somewhere? I thank you for your ending words, and if you ever want to play feel free to add me, as i have absolutely no problem teaching you 4v4 halo the way its suppose to be played. Being a support player it kinda sucks to end every game with 3-5 more assists than I have kills. Most my infinity games end with me having 14-17 kills and 12-16 assists, because it makes no sense to get to close to a group of 4 people consistently spawning ontop of eachother. I wish you the best sir, your knowledge of UT is dead on, i only wish it was as popular as cod was because then it might be catered to more so than call of duty is clearly now. its not letting me do the quotes because of size, gl readingn everyone
  8. thanks man, theres always going to be people who arent going to agree with me but i also have no problem trying to change their minds. It honestly feels like the idea of halo has been perverted by this slew of new popualr online games. In an attempt to make $ 343 really followed suit the same as Bungie did. Catering to the greater crowd with ideas that work in other game by simply comibining halo, a world everyone knows, loves, has a long history, and adding features from other popualr games honestly feels like they were more interested in making $ than putting out something with solid mechanics. If you ever want to see a game that was put out simply for its fans take a look at dark souls. Games a remake and is amazing and impossible to play on your own just like the original. They didnt lack on the fact that you were going to die a lot. So much so the commercial even jokes about it while at the same time showing you an incredible trailer that I dont care who you are, makes you want to play. The game itself looks challenging, giving it great appeal to any rpg player who is looking for a difficult experience not just to complete a 470 hours of side missions along with a 30 hour story line i.e Skyrim. Halo fans reacted to sprint with great resistance. You can not find one thread on the internet that argues why sprint should be in halo. Just people saying eithers its ok, its not gamebreaking, or a novel similar to my own saying why it ruins the game and most with valid points. Furthermore, 343 copied every other game, releasing an unfinished product with missing maps only a few weeks later to have an excuse to get another 20$ out of me. Ive already said if the game was 80$ and it was made right I would still buy it. Releasing forge maps with the game instead of real maps and using an extremely dumbed down version of the tools they actually have to edit and make maps as a halo fan, customer, someone who sees the game as stock something im buying into to support this company. Especially on midnight release when I can just as easily wait until after the holidays and get it used on ebay or something for 20$ I honestly feel like I got slapped in the face. Who wouldn't buy the best game on the market if it costs a little more. Why are we freaking out that halo 4 made 5.9 gagillion dollars vs the 7.8 years ago when the economy is better during halo 3. Does all of 343 and bungie need big houses like Papa johns and his stupid castle? I'm not a game designer but the halo games clearly can be made faster and better and the game still make crazy enough amounts of profit leaving me puzzled as to why the games missing so many minor features that are part of the classic halo formula. tl;dr just for the lazys Every game comes out unfinished and there is absolutely no reason for it anymore. Just make the game with all the maps, take the extra month or 2 if you need it. Do some really extensive testing. Where the **** was t2 and all the pros when they were holding onto this **** like 2 months before it came out. If they leaked that you didnt get unscoped when shot at or that you couldnt drop the flag would we of seen it change before it came out? 343 just coped bungie and every other franchise by sucking the extra 20$ out of us just after the game came out. Halo 5 is in the works, halo reach never got the updates and fixes it deserved, halo 4 is already worrying me to the point where I'm unsure if halo has a future in the competitive community because of the new style of gameplay forced by all these unhalo like settings. The social community, lets be honest, stemmed from core halo mechanics. We didnt have halo 1 agruments between the AR and the pistol. The pistol raped and today you can still play halo 1 online and people are still playing. So what does that say? Other than we have yet to have a halo game that can stack up to its predecessors. It has nothing to do with "not being able to except halo is changing and the game is different" I personally welcome the larger sandbox, have no problem with the idea of AA's but not to where they are incredibly obvious abilities that can be added to any game or game breaking to where a player doesnt need to navigate parts of the map because he can simply fly over them. The Bumper Jumper layout, easily one of the most popular since it you can aim, shoot, and jump, all at the same time cant use gamebreaking jetpack and aim and shoot, a problem we had last game that TONS of people have posted a slight change in button layouts and all 343 had to do was rip one off and we would have had a bumper jumper that works with jetpack, again, laziness. I wish I could just get a phone call from 343, an hour on the phone and halo 4's update or halo 5's release would set records. Just fyi aswell recently saw that that 39.99 price drop ends january 5th most places. Not to say its going up or down but why list the sale price to end if its not going to change. I cant see it going down, as its a sale, and when a sale ends, it goes up, leading me to believe that a post i made awhile ago on MLG's site about the price drop was right. That it was just a genius idea to make sure parents arent choosing between halo and blops2 while at the same time offering adults a way to save $ and still get their kids what they want. sorry the tl;dr was not very short. I just think I have a lot of knowledge from all the time Ive spent with halo even though myself never became a pilliar of the community it was because while many of those pillars were posting and attending events. I was simply reading and watching events as a real fan. As much so as any other sports fan because I believe competitive gaming is definitely a "sport" Being on a top team or going to school for game development I'm sorry just wasent in the cards for me, to a degree i almost feel like i let a lot of people down not pursuing such a career.
  9. you might as well not post if your not going to read it. For social games loadouts are fine, as I actually make your point for you but you should actually read it because I touch on different points at different times for different reasons. Its long, and its maybe not the most organized. But if your in a video game forum and even though my intelligence is not that of a kid I'm not a writer. I dont care that its jumbled because at worst its 3-5 minutes worth of reading and you and i both know you have spent more time on the toilet reading worse crap. The fact that another player sucks with a specific gun is absolutely meaningless. A gun is still a gun, you aim and shoot like any other fps game. If you play it more you'll get better at it. If you want to be competitive, just like any other sport, your practice and join a team. What your saying literally dumbs down halo more, takes away from the sandbox, discourages map movement and map control and gives us more of a Call of Duty Spartan Ops feel. Which with your encouragement I can promise is coming. Have you considered that maybe halo just isint the game for you? Your describing call of duty. Letting players start with the AR in this game against rifles is a freaking joke and against any skilled players will leave you sitting at the bottom of the list. Starting them with an inaccurate short distance weapon against all long range precision weapons causes an even more unbalanced playing field. what is your definition of balance? and fair? when were you little and your sibling got something way better for christmas than you did you consider thatr fair or balanced? Had your parents said, well your younger brother gets the hummer because hes not as a safe as a driver and you can have the bicycle because your in better shape and wont get hit by cars. We need to make sure hes safe, since your smarter and strong enough to ride daily and hes fat and stupid, we are going to spend 50,000$ on him, and 50$ on you. So its fair. Balance literally means same thing on both sides.. which loadouts destroy. 4 players who start with jetpacks and regeneration fieilds and dmrs are going to destroy any team using just AR's and w/e other AA's that just dont compare to jetpack and regeneration field. that does not happen in any world.. parents will go out of their ways to make sure they buy the exact same thing for siblings. Otherwise they will fight and claim its unfair and or unbalanced. If 12 year olds can figure out whats fair and whats not fair, certainly we and you can too. with that said ...... fairness comes from an even start, weapons on the map, or the sandbox, is what encourages map movement and is what actually takes away from the cod style play. Cod is spawn, run, kill, die, spawn, run, kill, kill, die, change loadout, spawn, hide, get kills while hiding, get a kill streak (ordnance with any major power weapon including sticky launcher) use kill streak to get more kills, die, rinse and repeat. At no point does being at a specific point on the map benefit you the way Halo historically had you going down certain halls or drops to pick up power weapons forcing conflict for weapons instead of just looking for constant spawn, kill, die, spawn, kill, kill, die, spawn, kill, die, spawn, kill, kill, kill, almost get your extermination only to have your last 3 kills spawn around your 4th to save his *** at the last second and force you into a 1v4. Thats some reward for the 3 kills you just got.
  10. of course you can rape a team of 4 in halo reach. All the good kids quit.. lol they new the game was a joke. The trick was by no means to "time" your shots, the trick was to put as many shots in as you could as you moved up the map, and to keep the other teams shields low to where they had so much fire power on them bloom made no difference. At point blank 85% of players would spam like crazy and easily 75 % of that 85% was winning their one on ones using a weapon that was designed to not work when absolutely raping the trigger of your own controller. Bloom itself has been in every halo game. Theirs loads of youtube vids to prove it. Bungie tried to create a new easy to use long range precision weapon to replace the ever unpopular BR. The br itself lost popularity with that introduction of bullet travel time in halo 3 and the loss of button combos. The travel time meant poor registration, and 3 bullets meant a spread to control that your average social player really just didnt understand. Switching from 3 bullets to 1 kept registration under control, and visual bloom was added to allow players to determine how accurate their bullets would be. Which makes no sense because hitscan meant if the aimer is red it will physically hit you no matter what. So your bloom could be a mile wide but if its red and your playing hitscan it still is going to hit the other player. It was an accurate gun that you could spam, why not just do what they have always done and make the rifle have a delay between shots. Individual trigger pulls like any other rifle. The best playlist was easily the mlg play list that had no bloom. i disagree with you there because you gotta imagine how much harder it is to aim and shoot and strafe at the same time when shot at. Realistically now you can't take your time looking down a scope when your getting pummelled by bullets. Against a sniper in halo 4 your almost garunteed to get hit once and killed before you can get your 5 shots off, and challenging a sniper at long range with the br is a ******* joke lol. Making "quickscoping" an MLG crowd pleasing skill that has filled venues with "ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!" which belive you me, is very very very satisfying to hear. Thanks for the compliment bro, but with all do respect.. why are you here? you havent played the game in over a month, and have no desire to. The fact that you would defend halo reach is laughable and I say that to everyone else who agrees. Lets be clear, halo reach was god awful compared to OTHER HALO GAMES it still is better than a ton of other games out there by all means. That doesnt mean though just because its better than so many others it gets to slack from what it could potentially be done right and agreed nobody likes a stat *****.
  11. You wont see a large amount of people looking to return to the vanilla days of halo. Everyone is interested in mixing the old with the new, but again the trick is to make light touches and combine them with solid mechanics. Not strip the game down to br/dmr, sniper and rockets. Its boring, uninteresting and a lazy way to find a balance in a game with an ever growing sandbox. Specializations you won't see in MLG and I wouldnt be suprised if 343 had a similar playlist without them. Everyone starting with the same gun is a more competitive and balanced way to play and in a competitive playlist I 100% agree it should be the norm but going into random play lists by yourself often having not the best teammates being able to help the less skilled players because you have more access to things i think is fine as the playlists are meant to be fun and encourage winning but not make it a requirement to where teamwork, team shooting, and skilled competitive players are a necessity. You can play, have fun, use weird abilities and carry your random team if need be. honestly im pumped for this TU, MLG bravo, and the new settings we should be seeing from MLG on top of them being given another playlist which is awesome (^.^)b
