  1. Meh I used to when I had the time, but now it seems there isnt a real reward anymore. I dont even know if theres a reward for getting 100% in halo 4.

Games I have 100%ed are Halo 3 (for the katana), Super mario 64 (yoshi), Crash Bash (more games), Need for speed most wanted (bonus cars), Goldeneye007 (golden gun, gold pp7, as well as a million other cheats lol).

This was taken off halo Waypoint from the bulletin posted today. I want to hear you guys's opinions on this.

    From the face of Frank

"2012 was supposed to be the end of the world. Instead, it was the beginning of ours. Halo 4, despite being the seventh or eighth game in the Halo series (depending on how you count them), was our first game. That is to say, our first-ever fully fledged title, built from the ground up creatively and technologically. So let me save you the trouble of trolling my statement: We have a lot to learn. We made a lot of mistakes. We can do better. And we know this, and we will. But I don’t want to spend the first moments of the year thinking about the negatives, because frankly, I am incredibly proud of both the team and the game that team created.

And for a first effort, it wasn’t half bad.

Stepping into Bungie’s oversized shoes would have been difficult, even for a well-established team. The challenge of wrangling that engine, that universe and that community was dizzying, even withering. Four years ago when our charter began, the challenge of starting the seed of a development team and then creating a sequel to Halo terrified us. A small group of us – names you know, like Kiki Wolfkill, Bonnie Ross, Kenneth Scott Josh Holmes and other characters who have moved on to different projects, different places – was tasked with doing something that was almost impossible.

But the team grew. And we learned. And we’re still learning. And the game arrived and it succeeded. Halo 4 is the best and fastest-selling Halo game in the series. It won critical acclaim. It won awards, from Best Graphics at the VGAs to Game of the Year at the Inside Gaming Awards. We altered the engine. We expanded the universe. We innovated in storytelling, technology, and even marketing. It wasn’t flawless by any stretch of the imagination, but by most objective criteria, it was a resounding success. So we know we have a lot to do. And we know we have a lot to learn. But we also know that we now have the capacity, the teamwork, the technology and the experience to do much better next time."

    halo4.jpg

"But my point is this: If you’d asked me three or four years ago if we thought we’d be where we are now, I would have looked doubtfully at you and said, “That’s a lot to ask.” But the team, through miracles of collaboration and individual contribution – and lakes of blood and tears – waded into the challenge with gusto and worked obscene hours with passion and verve to get it done. And now we’re beginning to really understand what “it” is.

I think that, perhaps perversely, rather than being looked at askance with doubt and cynicism, in some corners we’ve been given extra latitude – the only benefit of low expectations. And then the ability to exceed those expectations.

There are a ton of things we wish we'd done better: Features that didn’t make it into the final game. Glitches that emerged. Missteps made. DLC fiascos. Communication breakdowns. But there were things that went astonishingly well – the creation of a genuinely competitive AAA studio chief among them. A collection of talent and souls that can do something genuinely amazing on this and next-generation hardware. The overhaul of an amazing game engine – but one that really needed to be overhauled – and an amassed education on systems, people, code and audience that will stand us in great stead for the future."

    tumblr_mb0n0w6uXJ1qmxj7bo1_500.jpg

"Some of the high points of the last few years have been products as well as people – like Halo: Anniversary and Forward Unto Dawn. There have been amazing events – Halo Fest, the E3 debut, ComicCon – all blurring into a sea of faces, excitement, light, and noise.

But the most important aspect of our success, and our efforts now and in the future, has been this community – a demanding, imaginative, engaged, vocal, varied and intelligent swarm of personalities, groups and individuals, each with subtly to radically different interests in this vast and varied universe we’re charged with. That isn’t lip service, nor is it pandering. You guys pay for the privilege of playing our game, and you have every right to have a voice in its development.

It may not have ended up precisely the way you imagined – there are simply too many voices and perspectives to make all of the people happy, all of the time – but we think of the community as a direct and democratic extension of the team and, indeed, of the development process. A litmus test, a pH strip and a sounding board for ideas and innovations, you are the tension between the need for change and evolution, and the necessity of inertia.

Technically, this should be a retrospective, but it’s safe to say I’m more excited about the future than the past. Excited about what this team is already working on. Excited about what this team is capable of. And excited about the future of Halo. A future we want you to be a part of. A future we’re building for you."

As a community we appreciate Frank O'connor stepping forward and telling us what's been going on with Halo 4. Allowing us to hear these genuine comments from Frank himself goes a long way and allowing the community to have insight on 343 Industries thoughts of Halo 4. We hope in the future we will continue to receive information like this from 343 Industries informing and updating us on a franchise we love so much.

  3. Oh how I miss the epicness of halo 2. There was just so much to do!! You could say , "Im going to try and get my 40 today in slayer", or "I'm going to play some MLG customs", or "Im going to try this new superbounce" or try some glitch. The game was just amazing, but im here to talk about the epic adventures you could go on using glitches.

The greatest adventures in halo 2 were trying to get on top of the X building on headlong, getting out of Gemini and trying to run to the covenant city, trying to sword cancel to the top of the huge structure outside headlong (not the one that you can drive up with the spectre), getting the scarab gun, getting out of backwash to see the words in blood, the pizza cutter on burial mounds, climing the tree on Sancturary, and trying to get on top of the skyscraper on terminal.

There were so many AWESOME glitches and superbounces in halo 2 that I loved and truly miss. Post if you've done any of the things I just said.

  4. They did say in their announcement that they haven't yet decided whether or not they're going to reset it when they implement it - if they do reset it, there's going to be some seriously one-sided games in the immediate aftermath!

Boy if they dont reset it some poor high level bad kids who have played a lot of games are going to feel my wrath!! lol

  5. The halo 2 main menu music/halo waypoint menu is my favorite. Its actually my ringtone!! Its just so epic.

I do like the halo 4 menu music too, but the sound in general just isnt as good as Marty O'Donnell's work in the previous games. No offense to Neil Davidge and Sotaro Tojima, but the music is more complementary rather than additive, as said by Neil McCaffrey from IGN. Hearing "Blow me Away" by Breaking Benjamin in Halo 2's campaign was EPIC and it doesn't get close to that in halo 4.

If anyone here watched Dragon Ball Z, the same thing happned when Bruce Falcouner was replaced in Dragon ball GT. The DBZ music was fantastic, while the GT music was pretty terrible.

  6. All they've said so far is that it'll be out 'when it's ready' - at best, it might come in around the release of the next map pack, at worst, we might have to wait until after the final map pack's been released. In the meantime, you DO still have a rank, it just isn't visible anywhere yet!

Hopefully they reset it though, but based on the way this game is going they are probably going to reward the people who have played without a ranking system

  7. It's still not gonna be fun until we get SEPERATE ranked and social lists lol. Having a rank is one thing, having team mates that are in that same skill level is another and that's where H2 and H3 had it right.

Well of course, by now this should be common knowledge lol. If you have seen some of my topics about the ranking system in the past you'd know that I am the biggest supporter of H2. I cant keep pushing the same point over and over again, its gotten redundant. I will occasionally pick up halo 4 maybe once every 2 weeks and play a game or 2. Theres no point, it lacks substance. Maybe if they rank some playlists I can work to achieve something, otherwise it'll be a nice coaster. I check the halo waypoint forums because it is the official site and they havent said a thing or fixed anything that the majority of people want changed (ranking system, custom games, playlists). They made their money already, seems like they dont care if anyone is playing it.

Oh and one more thing, I don't play MLG anymore but its terrible how they cant reach a deal with MLG and are looking to partner with virgin gaming. Just shows that this game is so far down the wrong road, not sure if its coming back.

  8. 90% of Halo 3 population spent 90% of time in SOCIAL playlists, so you're WRONG.

Blops2 netcode is no less laggy than H4, and you get tenfold better connects at any time due to player count. Half the time people complain about connect issues its because the gameplay and movement is faster than ever and kill times in regular playlists made even shorter with all weapons.

where are you getting this information???

  9. Yeah so I understand a lot of people are pissed off that Desmond dies, I personally am more surprised than angry. I made a topic about this in the link below so I'd suggest you read it about what will happen in the next game. I have played all the games and as long as the next few games are good I don't see why I need to be angry at the ending.

    http://www.343industries.org/forum/topic/21950-assassins-creed-3-and-the-story-so-far/

  10. Anyone here play all the Assassins creed games? I just beat AC3 a few days ago and was wondering if anyone here wanted to discuss it.

If you haven't beat it yet, dont read after this, SPOILERS

So if you remember after AC Brotherhood, Juno says, "There is one who would accompany you through the gate. She lies not within our sight..." Desmond then stabs Lucy and Juno says, "Only she remains to be found." We find out later that Lucy was a templar.

Now in AC3, Desmond is faced with the decision to save the world by killing himself and freeing Juno or to let the world end and he start the world over and become known as a legend and then a god. He decides to pick the lesser of 2 evils and frees Juno while killing himself in the process. Juno saves the world and then plans to take it over.

Now after realizing this, I was thinking to myself "What about all that stuff in Brotherhood?" The truth video with Adam and Eve? I did some more looking around and realized that the Playstation Vita game Assassins Creed 3 Liberation had the answers. The main character is Aveline (a girl assassin). In the ending cutscene (theres 2 endings, the real one is the one im talking about here) basically confirms that Aveline is a close descendent of Eve and whoever the subject that Abstergo took Avelines memories from is a close descendent of Eve, just like Desmond was a descendent of Adam. So now that Desmond (adam) saved the world but it is enslaved by Juno, Eve has a chance to redeem herself from the original sin of the Adam and Eve story and save humanity from enslavement in the next game. (Eve offered the apple to Adam, you know the story).

so what do you think of that? thats my best crack at it

  11. Lol where are you getting your information from? Outer space? Your mom? Bigfoot?

    Umm.....

This is the link for the 1-50 ranking system announcement,

    http://blogs.haloway...nouncement.aspx

Heres the link for the support for a true 1-50 ranking system implemented in game, which is in my original post.

    https://forums.halow...ial-Thread.aspx

Based on the history of release dates of major past halo games (Halo CE 2001, Halo 2 in 2004, Halo 3 in 2007) They need about 3 years to make a new game.

They have already confirmed halo 5 to be on the next gen console...

Not sure why I even answered your offensive and immature comment.

  12. I'm so tired of reading all these threads about NERF THIS or BUFF THAT. Everyone wants a ranking system and a little 1-50 next to their names... Nobody is happy with the maps, they all want The Pit or Midship.

Look. I'll be the first to admit that Halo 3 was a good game. But if you want to play THAT so badly go buy the platinum hit and quit talking trash about how more people are playing Halo Reach than Halo 4!

Even if it was statistically true it doesn't matter. Not every gamer wants to be MLG boss and wreck everyone with a 4/1 KD. Some of us play the game to enjoy the cool stuff that happens along the way, the way video games were intended to be. Not measuring virtual dicks.

If you DO want to play competitively however maybe they should have an MLG playlist so you can go there. I'm not against the idea of MLG and competitive multiplayer. I AM HOWEVER against changing all the game dynamics to suit one crowd of people. That's just selfish and asenine. I'm not a game developer and chances are you're not either. So be glad we have a sequel and either play or don't.

It's not about being a fanboy, and it's not about being social or MLG. It's about playing a freaking VIDEO GAME the way they are meant to be played. It's supposed to be entertaining and something you can always pick up. Good replay value with a mix of different customizable play styles making each gamers experience unique and something they will want to play again.

I think since this is 343i's first game that they accomplished this. IGN gave them a rating of 9.8. I may not be the Halo fan I was 11 years ago but c'mon MLG and community forum... Don't you think you're taking it a LITTLE too far with all these outrageous competitive tweaks you want??? I'm not trying to argue and before you reply really THINK about what it is I'm saying...

Sorry it's so lengthy. Just had to get that off my chest and see if ANYONE else agrees.

First of all, thanks for being considerate. This is a great post.

Unlike you, I have been playing halo since the original and competed in MLG and matchmaking since Halo 2 very competitively. However, I play a lot of social playlists, forge, and goof around as well. Like you said, your not against MLG, so all 343i needs to do is put in a ranking system with ranked and social playlists and change a few things like other people in this topic have posted about. I have embraced the new changes that Halo now has (sprint, perks, etc.) and I do not mind them. Those "super hardcore only play MLG" people are quite annoying and should learn to do this as well.

Overall, I agree with what your saying except that MLG should definitely NOT cater to casual players. Casual players are not as good as competitive players and dont win MLG tournaments. Period.

343i should cater to COMPETITIVE AND CASUAL PLAYERS, yet they have only catered to casual players up to this point.
