When you thought of the next generation leap last year, you probably imagined games like Assassin's Creed, Killzone, Dead Rising, and even Forza, one game not well known last year however was the return to the popular racing franchise, Need For Speed Rivals. IGN.com reports that if you were one of those people last year, now is a good chance to try the game with Need For Speed Rivals: Complete Edition! The bundle will release this October, the 21st in North American and the 24th in Europe, and include 6 different add-on packs. These packs include the Ferrari Edition Special Complete Pack, Simply Jaguar Complete Pack, Loaded Garage Pack, the Koenigsegg Agera One Pack, Concept Lamborghini Pack, and the Complete Movie Pack. All of these include a total of over 11 different cars (excluding the Loaded Garage Pack) each with two variations, the Police and Racer versions, locking in at about 22 cars in the first five alone. This pack will release on Xbox One, Xbox 360, PS4, PS3, and PC strictly through Origin, meaning no retail PC version. If you had your hopes up for a Need For Speed sequel/prequel this year, I'm sad to report you'll have to wait another year, but this should tame your Need For Speed lust for another year.

Fans of Batman have been seething at the teeth for information about Rocksteady's conclusion to the Arkham Trilogy, Arkham Knight, if you're one of them I have good news and bad news. The good news first, Amazon.com listed two new editions of Arkham Knight today, the Limited Edition and the Batmobile Edition. The Limited Edition goes for $99.99 and contains the game, a finely detailed Steelbook case of Batman himself and the Batmobile, a DC comic for Batman, an Artbook, a Skin Pack unlocking New 52 skins, and the centerpiece of the edition, a 12 inch statue of Batman himself towering over Gotham, with a plaque below reading 'The Gotham Knight'. The Batmobile Edition, running for $199.99, includes all of this except the Batman statue, replacing it with a larger state of the Batmobile. The Limited Edition is still available on the market, but the Batmobile Edition is unfortunately sold out.

Finally, the bad news. If you were looking forward to the game early next year, you're going to have to wait a little while, as the game will launch on the 2nd of June, 2015. While the game was originally planned for an October 2014 release, it was pushed back nearly a year later, likely due to more polish needing to be put on the game itself. This release date seems odd, as Batman: Arkham Origins was released in October of 2013 and Arkham City was in October of 2011 as well. Arkham Asylum was the only one to be released near this day, being released in August of 2009. Nevertheless if you're looking to pre-order expect the Xbox One, PS4, and PC versions to be launched worldwide on June 2nd, 2015.

GTA V Gets Confirmed Release Date on PS4, Xbox One, and PC

Grand Theft Auto V, the hype couldn't escape us last year and it likely won't this year either, as GTA V is on the horizon. Polygon.com states that Rockstar has placed a confirmed release date for the current generation versions and the PC versions, though PC users might be disappointed. The game will launch on November 18th on Xbox One and PS4, and launch January 27th on PC. As well as having a flux of better graphics and smoother frame rate, the game will also include new weapons, cars, wildlife, and activities, as well as improvements to damage and weather. If you're one of the four people that cares, there are 100 new songs on the radio station and new mixes. Online will see improvements like an enhanced player count for up to 30 players and the ability to transfer characters across consoles (I.E. PS3 > Xbox One, Xbox 360 > PS4, etc). As well, transferring will unlock bonus content if you completed the prologue on PS3 or Xbox 360. And finally if you pre-order you get an in-game bonus of half a million GTA dollars for single player use and half a million GTA dollars for online.

Blue Xbox 360, 500GB Call of Duty Bundle, and Kinect Bundle Announced

Microsoft is doing a great job showing that they still care about their previous generation console, the Xbox 360, with this new set of bundles. Xbox.com announced the three new bundles available in store October 7th, a Blue Xbox 360 exclusive to Walmart, a Call of Duty Bundle, and a bundle with Kinect. The first bundle is the Call of Duty Bundle releasing this fall, and it includes a 500GB black Xbox 360, Call of Duty: Black Ops II, Call of Duty: Ghosts, one month of Xbox Live Gold, and the typical controller. This bundle will launch for $249 USD and will be available in the usual stores. The next bundle is a Kinect Bundle, including, again, the black Xbox 360, now 4GB, a black Kinect, Kinect Adventures and Forza Horizon, and a month of Gold and the controller. This bundle is the same as the last in terms of pricing, $249, and will be available everywhere. The final bundle is exclusive to Walmart and includes a blue Xbox 360, for $249.

PayDay 2 and Hotline Miami Team Up in New DLC

If you haven't heard of or played PayDay 2 by now, you're lying, as the game has been all over the gaming community, especially the PC community. GameInformer.com has some news you might like if you're a PayDay fan and a Hotline Miami fan on PC. The two game's developers have teamed up for a neon themed PayDay 2 add-on exclusive to PC. A short teaser (visible on the link page) shows off some possible additions, new masks, maps, modes, weapons, etc. As of now though, news is slim, but we have a confirmed release date of September 30th, 2014. And of course the game will likely be outfitted in Hotline Miami's signature style of flashy neon.

The new DLC called Final Stand has been revealed with a trailer yesterday and shows a lot of new stuff to do.

The DLC will be focussed around infantry warfare but with a twist. This DLC will be set in something pre Battlefield 2142. The map pack consisting out of 4 different maps will hold vehicles and weapons that resemble prototypes of the weapons and vehicles in Battlefield 2142.

You can get yourself a hover tank which does exactly as you imagine, get your hands on a Railgun which can absolutely annihilate infantry and vehicles, race and jump around on snowy mountain tops with a snowmobile or find and deploy a drone holding a minigun to harass your foe's.

Tons of fun I'd say

This DLC is already able to be checked out in the Community Test Environment (CTE) for Premium players on the PC as a beta version of the DLC can be played there now. These players can play one map each day, but hurry as there are not that much player slots open.

If you haven't heard someone mention Destiny, whether you've got your mind wrapped around what exactly the game is or not, you've either been living under a rock or have forgotten someone mention it, which is highly unlikely since it's been talked about nonstop. Polygon.com reports that all that talk really did work out in the end for Activision and Bungie as the game has earned over half a billion US dollars in worldwide shipping to retail stores on the game alone. This massive earning makes Destiny the biggest new game franchise launch title in history, surpassing anything before it in terms of hype. However, just because the game has been shipped to stores doesn't mean all those copies sold, but it is a good estimate as it shows the expectations companies had for the game. Activision has yet to release actual sales on the game itself, but estimate it to be quite high, possibly even beating last year's colossal Grand Theft Auto V launch. Bobby Kotick, Activision Blizzard CEO, had this to say, "This industry milestone marks another blockbuster success for our company and demonstrates our unique ability to create some of the most successful entertainment franchises in the world. The success of Destiny, along with the recent introduction of Blizzard Entertainment's Hearthstone, is further validation of our unique capabilities to create great entertainment franchises from the ground up."

Mortal Kombat fans are bound to be extremely excited for the newest installment in the Mortal Kombat franchise, Mortal Kombat X. If you are, then I'm happy to report that GameSpot.com has relayed the information that Mortal Kombat X has a confirmed release date! The game will launch on Xbox One, Xbox 360, PS3, PS4, and PC on April 14th, 2014. If you pre-order it comes with the infamous four armed Shokan, Goro from previous MKX games. Pre-orders also include a poster of a spinal system of a character, teasing the new in-game mechanic that shows off inner bone and organ damage to opposing characters. Mortal Kombat however usually launches bundles some time after release with all DLC so if you don't pre-order fear not! The game was revealed back in the spring and has shown the return of fan favorites like Scorpion, Sub-Zero, and Raiden, as well as new characters.

The very popular game Minecraft has finally gotten a release date for the Xbox One.

The game will be available for download on the Xbox One starting the 5th of September at a price of €19,99. Players who already own the game on the Xbox 360 can choose to upgrade their current game for the price of €4,99. If you rather want to get the game through a retailer you will have to wait untill somewhere near the end of the month when retailers start sell download codes. You can get the discount by showing them your Xbox 360 Minecraft disc.

This upgraded Xbox One version will make your world up to 36 times bigger than the Xbox 360 version. Unlike the Xbox 360 version you will start off with the latest updates immediatly. Even downloadable content you purchased on the Xbox 360 will carry over to your Xbox One.

You can either play with 3 other friends through split-screen or up to 7 others over Xbox Live.

Owners of the Playstation 4 can play Minecraft starting today! (3rd of Sept)

Both versions were due to release this August but encountered some delay which has caused it to release this week.

UPDATE:

So... Apparently the Minecraft Xbox One edition has come to the Xbox Store a day early. Only problem is that it's listed as 114,99 pounds...

This is surely an error, but there's still the option to press 'Purchase now'. Nobody has been stupid enough to go through with it... Yet.

Destiny has had a wide array of viral campaigns and marketing ploys, however this interactive campaign launched in partnership with Google is something special. Destiny Planet Viewer, as it is dubbed, can be visited at DestinyPlanetView.com, and it allows people to examine the planets in Destiny in depth. On each planet there are hotspots, and visiting all of them on all planets will unlock something when Destiny launches, an emblem. When you reach all of them (or use the code I'll display here if you want an easier venture) the game will give you a code, 7F9-767-F74, which is the same for everyone so just entering the code on Bungie's site is really all the effort that's needed. The unlocked emblem is dubbed 'The Sign of the Finite' and looks to be a cobalt blue patchwork emblem.

People who own Titanfall can set their eyes on the new update coming out soon!

This will already be the sixth update that will be released for this game. And just like last time it will add some new content to play around with.

One of the largest additions includes Pilot Skirmish. A gamemode long awaited by many that will get rid of all AI bots and Titans and will focus on Pilot vs Pilot combat. Another surprising feature of the new playlist will be that it contains 16 players (8v8) max instead of the original 12 (6v6). This increase of player count does however make it unable for it to be in the variety pack.

The Update will also make Marked for Death, a gametype that has been added earlier in the game, a permanent playlist. The gamemode in which you must hunt down a specific player of the enemy team to earn point whilst defending a targeted teammate was so popular that Respawn Entertainment added it to the regular playlist. The playlist will also get it's own set of custom loadouts like every other one.

Colourblind Pilot's can now play the game without trouble as well since there will now be a option to change the colours schemes of some key HUD elements for better visuals.

The Black Market will now offer you some limited stock of Burn Cards that shifts on a timer. The rarities may vary, as do the prices.

A new ultra-rare Burn Card called "Gambling is for Winners" will be added. This Burn Card let's you tap into your entire deck within a game.

And finally, there will no longer be a penalty for players who join games late. If you join a game in which your team is losing and about half way done the loss will not be counted for your record, however if you manage to win it will be counted for your record. Win-win!

Games quit early will still count as a loss!

Respawn Entertainment has now set a release date for this update. Surprisingly, it comes out 9-3-14.

Welcome all to the 43rd 343i Weekly Community Poll!

Borderlands has a history when it comes to downloadable content, with the original's critically acclaimed DLCs, and Borderlands 2's fairly well received expansion packs for new areas, creative enemies, great new playable characters, and other features like customization items and weapons. If the description for Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel's Season Pass, according to GameSpot.com, has anything to say about it, we can expect some exciting things in the future for the prequel game. 2K released the image today, promising new challenges, characters, experiences, and maps and missions, with four confirmed major expansions and other releases sprinkled in. You can purchase the packs singularly for a fair price of $10, or spend $30 on the Season Pass to get a decent deal. Details on the expansions within the Season Pass however are slim, even to 2K Australia and Gearbox, the people working on it however. A possible idea was talked about, having Handsome Jack himself (his body double actually) as a character with how well received he is by fans. A piece of confirmed DLC, the Shock Drop Slaughter Pit, is staying put as a pre-order bonus until further notice, but it may be added to the market for it's own price.

State of Decay Getting Xbox One Port

State of Decay was massively well received as a breath of fresh air for the dying Zombie theme at the time of it's launch on Xbox Live and PC, being (at the time) an innovative experience as players lived in an ever changing, unscripted world with the undead running rampant, however today we see games like DayZ, H1Z1, and others accomplish the same in larger numbers. Xbox.com has the story as it was announced that State of Decay: Year One Survival Edition will be coming to Xbox One in 2015. It will include your typical remastered contents, the game with up-scaled graphics (1080p) and frames-per-second, all the DLC, and entirely new content yet unannounced. It will launch on an unconfirmed date in 2015, I would guess sometime in Early Spring though. Undead Labs, the developers of the game and it's port, will be revealing more info on the game and it's unannounced new features later on.

Nintendo Announces New 3DS Design/"Next Gen" 3DS

Selling tremendously well during it's two year run so far, the 3DS was a sleeper hit among many Nintendo business failures, like the Wii U. Polygon.com reports that Nintendo has announced two new and improved variants of the system, the regular new version and the XL version. The new system is labeled as, "The New 3DS" (Not kidding) will feature a better overall layout, improved CPU to allow games to run better on it, and an analog nub to act as a second thumbstick and new shoulder buttons. Other features include Amiibo integration, and sliding covers so that you can customize your 3DS with new skins. However, sad news for people who own the old 3DS, as they may be forced to upgrade in the future, with exclusive games being developed for the new hardward, with Xenoblade Chronicles being the first. The model will launch exclusively to Japan on October 11th, making it's way to the Western Market next year as a possibility.

Halo: The Master Chief Collection Forge Revealed, Halo 3 Gameplay, etc.

343 Industries had a lot to reveal today at PAX at their conference, with Forge details being the highlight and a surprise viewing of Halo 3 in 1080p/60fps. Ducain23 (one of our partners) recorded the whole event, which can be seen at YouTube.com, showing off some new forge features and images on Ascension. Bug fixes like inconsistent magnetization and menu issues have been addressed and dealt with, and some old features like zoom and the much requested precision control have been brought back. We have a host of new features though, and I'll list and explain several of them here. You can now snap and align objects to the ground, allowing you to easily place something on terrain without issue. Next, the palette has been improved with new natural objects and structures, and you can now pick specific palettes for objects on maps. You can also create objects in the sky in Skyboxes, like in Sandbox in Halo 3 on the grid. You can script objects, and while we're not totally sure what this could mean, we can assume players can assign objects certain activation cues or interactions, like making objects into doors. Finally there is no more budget, and instead we have an object counter currently capped at 650, at least on Ascension. Halo 3 gameplay was also shown, as said before, and looked to have very little difference to it's last gen counterpart, you can view the whole thing in the link.

Deep Silver shared two new exciting announcements for it's Saints Row franchise, particularly Saints Row IV, today at PAX Prime, a remake of SRIV on the current generation Xbox One and PS4, and a stand-alone DLC expansion for the game called Gat Out of Hell. Polygon.com reports that the DLC will follow Johnny Gat and Kinzie Kinzington after using a Ouija board goes horribly wrong, they are transported to the depths of hell and must kill Satan himself. No customization will follow in the DLC as you're playing as already set characters. The world is about half the size of Steelport, but will feature new activities, weapons, and clothing. The DLC is $19.95 as a stand-alone (you don't need Saints Row IV to play it) and will release on January 27th, 2015 on Xbox One, PS4, PS3, Xbox 360, and the PC.

Next is the Saints Row IV: Re-Elected Edition, also covered by Polygon.com. This is a bundling of the original Saints Row IV game and all of it's DLC, excluding the Gat Out of Hell add-on. The bundle will be available on January 27th, 2015, the same day as the DLC. It will cost about $29.99, or a bundle will the DLC will be available separately for $49.99. New features for the game such as Kinect integration have also been teased by it's porters, High Voltage Studios, working with the original developers Volition and it's publishers Deep Silver to recreate the game. Currently, resolution and framerate for the game have not been announced, but more details should be available soon according to Deep Silver, so we may have to wait a few days.

September's free titles for the Games With Gold scheme have been revealed, so here's what's free and when.

Starting September 1st and throughout the month both Super Time Force and Crimson Dragon will be free to download for Xbox Live Gold Members for the Xbox One. Crimson Dragon became free last month and will carry over as part of next months Games With Gold scheme.

It's no secret that companies like to compete, especially in the gaming world, and that's why the news about Assassin's Creed Unity's delay sort of makes sense. IGN.com reports that Ubisoft announced the delay today, slating the release for November 11th, 2014. The same day as Assassin's Creed Rogue and The Crew, and some time near Far Cry 4. While it could be understood that Ubisoft would set the date to compete with Halo: The Master Chief Collection, it makes little sense to compete with other games under your belt, two of them releasing on the same day. As well the game now has a Day One patch, what the patch is for is currently unknown. The dates for AC Unity and AC Rogue are also aligning in Europe and other countries where the releases usually happen later, as both games are now slated to release on the 13th.

Last week, Microsoft heralded in a new feature to the Xbox One with the launch of Madden 15, pre-loading. Pre-loading allows you to download the game to it's fullest on your system before launch and when launch hits, play it with no waiting hassle. IGN.com reports that Destiny will be the next game to receive this feature, and will be available to pre-load soon. A microsoft spokesperson commented, saying, "We’re thrilled to make Destiny available for pre-order and pre-download . . . this option was available for a short period of time before the official pre-order window opened. We’ll have more details to share soon about the pre-order and pre-download window for Destiny." So far no confirmed pre-load window as he says, but I'd expect it to be open around the launch weekend, September 5th, 6th, and 7th. So far this feature for Destiny has only been confirmed for the Xbox One, however I'd expect the PS4 to also receive the game for pre-load with an announcement coming soon. The game launches in just 2 weeks on September 9th.
