Here are two ways you can use the trees differently....

 

Firstly, make a colleseum light(s)

 

 

 

 

Or adowned telephone pole. With the trait zone, I made it so that they cause damage when stepping over the wires. There's an electrical sound when you walk near them. I used shield walls to create that sound.
