DMR: The Final Weapon (OP)

In my opinion, this weapon is too fast, too accurate and too OP. If 2 MLG pro gamers, one with DMR and one with BR, have a duel... The DMR win, EVERY time. The DMR can shoot faster then BR... More accurate then BR. However this weapon is OP. Try with your friends... friends with your skills and ability. Try a duel with this friend and look how much the DMR is OP.

2 ways: Nerf the DMR or upgrade the BR.

I doubt the DMR would win every time to think that is having delusions of grandeur about the DMR, other things come into play like strafing, jumping, crouching, elevation, map awareness.

thats strange ive actually heard the opposite that the BR out performs most of the time in SWAT

but if your gonna start balancing the guns themselves around such niche environments your asking for trouble, better to remove a gun from it then to balance it and risk screwing the balance up in the regular format.

It only outperforms on a map the rough size of Haven, on anything else the DMR has a distinct accuracy edge.

Yeah. But if two weaker gamers were to have a dual, then the Battle Rifle would win every time.

It's like Shotguns and Sniper Rifles. If two pros were to fight each other, the one with the Sniper would easily win because they'd be getting headshots WAY out of the Shotgun's range. But if two newbies were playing, The Shotgun would win every time because the one with the Sniper Rifle would be lucky to even hit the target.

The DMR isn't overpowered. It's a Battle Rifle that requires more skill to use. And since it's harder to use, people who use it deserve faster kill times than those who take the more user-friendly option.

that is horrible game balance actually. in that line of thought, remove every other weapon save the DMR cuz they arent good enough.

What, it's wrong to have one two weapons for one role, one for newer players and one for more experienced players? How is that horrible balance?

really? im not really sure how to explain this, it seems completly self explanitory. suffice to say if you give one person a rock cuz he doesnt know how to use a gun, and the other person a gun, 9 times out of ten the gun is the better weapon that will get the kill.

if you want balance, there needs to be areas where the guns outshine eachother, and areas where they are worse then eachother. this is one of the main reasons the DMR needs some slight adjustment. it both kills faster then the BR and outperforms the BR in its domain, the close to medium range. essentially the only reason for the BR existing is people like it.

suffice to say, if a gun cannot outshine another gun, straight up, no skill of hte player factoring in, im talking raw numbers here. then there is something wrong.

slow ttk on dmr to 1.8 seconds, quicken br ttk to 1.6, there, dmr still outranges BR, BR has faster time to kill. balance

edit: hell if you want real skill based balance the better you are, you should be stuck with a crappier weapon, but thats not fun for everyone now is it lol. essentially your trying tow iden the gap between avg and skilled even further, probably the casue of a lot of casual players coming around complaining about the game.

If you give two people a gun when only one if them knows how to use it, the same thing happens. But look at it this way: if both players have a DMR, the weaker player might not even lower the better player's shields before they die. If they have a Battle Rifle, they have a better chance of actually winning, not just doing a lot of damage. The DMR is a better weapon, no argument, but it's a weapon that's very difficult to use and one which newer players probably just wouldn't do any damage with. It's an upgrade of the Battle Rifle, just like the Carbine and Lightrifle, not an alternative.

I do understand where you're coming from, but the way I look at it is that the Battle Rifle is just a weapon for new players, who haven't yet decided on what they're best at. If they're good at shorter ranges, they can pick up a Carbine. If they're better at longer ranges, it's the DMR. If they want to stay more versatile, it's the Lightrifle.

if that was true then when you unlocked a new precision weapon it would REPLACE the older one and you wouldnt be able to use it anymore.

they do not do this, therefore, they do not intend it. until they do this, nobody is gonna be able to convince me that a weapon is meant to be stop being used when you get to a certain skill level.

That's not necessarily true. What if you switched from the Battle Rifle to the DMR and discovered you weren't so good with it? Or if you just wanted to try a new style of play? This way you can still switch back to something you're comfortable with if you make a bad decision, or if you want to try a new strategy. They aren't going to risk stopping you from playing the game because you chose a weapon you didn't like and are stuck with it forever, you know?

that has nothing to do with gun balance

The DMR is way to over powered, I dislike it because everyone uses it. I mean stop watching your Machinima strategy guides and use something that actually takes skill, like the Storm Rifle or Suppressor. I mean really, No one can EVER say they never used or do use the DMR.
