  1. First off I dont personally think the ending was bad from most objective standpoints (well written, good quality, and had me emotionally invested) The problem I see with it is the fact that its not the end to a movie. What do i Mean? The problem i think most fans of halo and the story have with the ending is that cortana dies (duh) but why? (besides the fact cortana is awesome and hawt) Because there are two main objectives in the game 1. Save cortana! 2. stop the didact. And at the end you're left not even knowing if you've accomplished either of them. mostly not knowing about the didact. I know there are lots of plot points that look like they were made to bring back cortana, but no gamer (halo fan or not) likes running through a game (especially on legendary) only to get to the end and boom doesnt matter that you busted ur ass, she's dead. Atleast for me it almost made the whole campaign seem for nothing yeah chief may have stopped the didact, but the mood is not focused on chief's victory in this but rather the loss of cortana and possibly that the didact is not even dead. Imo this will leave most players with a bad taste in their mouths. In all the halo games (dunno about odst cant remember much from the campaign.) An objective is clearly accomplished (even with the death of the main char in reach). But in halo 4 it feels like nothing was accomplished chief just woke up and couldnt do crap to help cortana. Even if stopping the didact was accomplished that almost seemed secondary to saving cortana. And again is not stressed in the ending. In essence when I beat the game It felt as if I had lost it.
