  1. Hey there, SangMan, and welcome to the community. I see you've already gotten active in the forums and I think that's awesome. :yes I hope you're enjoying your time here and I look forward to seeing you around the site.

    Twam be with you!

  2. A bit late for a welcome from me, but here it is.

WELCOME to the community, GoldSpark. It's nice to meet you and I hope you enjoy the forums here. The vast majority of us don't like to argue as we understand what it is to have respect for each other, so you have nothing to really worry about. ^_^

So again welcome to the community and I look forward to seeing you around the site. :yes

Blessings of Twam be with you.

  3. Damn right. Pretty ugly way to kick things off.

Well, hopefully that was just a hiccup and not something that will repeat often (or at all). :o

:animier: Welcome to the community, Zamio. It's been a few days since you made your introduction here, but welcomes are always better late than never, eh?

I hope you enjoy it here and I look forward to seeing your activity in the forums. :yes

    Twam be with you.

  4. Hi there, Willy, and welcome to our community! :animier:

The odd squabble occurs now and then, but everybody is entitled to their own opinion, and the vast majority of us try to avoid flame wars. Overall, this is an extremely pleasant community and if you're nice and understanding, you'll fit right in in no time.

Good to have you and I hope to see you around the community. :yes

  5. The idea of Chief and Samus meeting intrigues me.

To be honest, I'm not so sure they would get along from the start. Samus Aran is a bounty-hunter, with (correct me if I'm wrong) no formal military training or discipline. She has a righteous suit of powered armor with an energy cannon built into the arm and allows her to perform extraordinarily in her chosen profession. Although I've never seen her handle a vehicle, her armor enhances her running speed, so she hasn't ever really needed to drive anything.

These things considered, I believe Master Chief would respect her for what she does, but I don't see him getting down with her, if that's what you're wondering, Noahsammy. Even if his libido wasn't dead.

Twam be with you, my child.

  6. I am against turning off friendly fire.

Have to agree with A-Dog on this.

I'm not trying to insult anyone. I just find friendly-fire to be a great humbler. And as A-Dog suggested: we should keep friendly-fire in mind when we get our hands on a SPNKr or decide to Nade-spam into close-quarters.

For example (story time!), in one match on Countdown I had been tracking a lone-wolf Red and decided I had the timing down perfectly to Nade him. I counted back from 3 in my head and tossed a frag through the door he was about to run by. Well, the nade blasted him into a wall and that's when I saw a blur of blue go flying by, followed immediately by "Betrayal". I guess my teammate was following the Red and besides damaging him, she had taken a bit of damage as well, and I never caught her IFF tag floating along the walls. +0 for Blue Team thanks to Father Bullet. Lesson learned. I apologized to her. We both had a good laugh. Then we kept playing. From then on I made sure to call out my nades, and quickly double-check to ensure I'm not about to blow-up one of my own.

Another reason: Friendly-fire is realistic. The more reality there is in Halo, the more fun and interesting it is to me.

Also, I always try to have a partner to buddy-up with in Teams. That way, if one of my other teammates tries to betray either of us, I have somebody who will back me up if it happens again (I let the first time slide). And if my chosen buddy happens to be a betrayer, well I just make sure to laugh mighty heartily into my mic when I see him get pwned.

Anyway! Good gaming, and Twam be with you! :smiling:

  8. That's a mean one, H4TW. :( I'd have to go with option 1: Stay away from 343i.org forever. I don't think I could stay here for the rest of my life unless I wanted the rest of my life to be all of two or three days before succumbing to dehydration.

...live on Mars or on the Moon?

  9. :robo: Hello. ^_^ I'm already acquainted with most who have replied here, including you, OP. But here it is:

My name is Kyle. My birthdate is 06/29/84 which puts me at 27-years-old.

I'm currently living in a little out-of-the-way area in south-central British Columbia, Canada, having recently moved from Calgary, Alberta.

    By "out-of-the-way" I mean "middle-of-nowhere". It's terrible.

I've been a gamer since I was 4 or 5 when my father brought home an N.E.S.

I vividly remember the old 16-bit 8-bit* games I grew up on, like:

    Super Mario Bros./Duck Hunt

    Excite Bike

    Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles

    Double Dragon

    Rad Racer

    Skate or Die

    Battletoads

    And many more!

I got into Halo after a longstanding indifference to the FPS genre, due to terrible times with Doom, 007: Goldeneye's multiplayer, Duke Nukem 64, and brief engagements with Quake, Red Faction and one or two others I can't remember much about.

It wasn't until about 6 months before Halo 3 that I finally stepped up to play Halo: CE.

I fell in love and immediately bought it and Halo 2.

Since then, I've purchased and played every Halo title that was released.

Currently, my favourite games are the Halo, Portal, Dead Space, Assassin's Creed, Silent Hill, Resident Evil, Parasite Eve and Final Fantasy titles and series.

There are others, but these are the only ones that immediately come to mind.

I love Halo, but my first love is and has always been RPG's, regardless of the setting.

I've been the 343i.org spiritual leader for a few months now.

Make of it what you will.

Just know that I'm not religious nor will I try to thrust my beliefs upon anyone.

I'm willing and able to discuss controversial topics without letting things get out of hand.

I try to understand all sides in a heated confrontation and will attempt to play devil's advocate for someone I feel is outmatched due to unfortunate conditions and not outright wrongness.

I do not, however, tolerate great acts of disrespect and I will not stand with anyone who does.

    What I stand for: L.U.R.V.

    Love

    Understanding

    Respect

    Virtue

This may seem like a lot, but if you knew me you'd understand how much farther into detail I could and would get into.

Be thankful this is the end (of my reply, not the end of the world, or life). :hugz: :fattwam:

    * (Edit: Forgot NES was 8-bit and SNES was 16-bit. My bad.)

  10. I cost my team the match by stubbornly making my team lose the battle by walking right in the midst of battle, because I was angry at some guy who yoinked me, so I cost them all the match selfishly. I am sorry poor Reach players!!! :(:

Well, neither of those are great things (yoinking or suiciding). You felt betrayed by your team and you acted out. Going forward you should try to remember that it's cruel and disrespectful to punish an entire team for the actions of one player. Maybe next time you should just come up behind him and beat him down, stating why you did it and to let it be a lesson to him about kill-stealing. Or, as AAN2 in the next confession did, you could use him as an unwitting suicide-bomber. ^_^

Twam be with you, my son.

Bless me father for I have sinned, I made one of my teammates quite out because he was not smart enough to realize that walking in the middle of a bunch of enemies is a death trap, so I started using him as a suicide bomber with my plasma grenades... I didn't get a single betrayal, but managed to get two triples and one double by the time that he Q.Quit.

AAN2, you know as well as I or Twam, that what you did wasn't a sin. Opportunity was knocking and you answered, baby. You took that poor misguided soul and his bad idea and turned it into something beautiful.

    You are not forgiven.

What you are is amazing. Kudos, my friend. Kudos and well done.

Twam guide you to more great feats, my child. Go with His blessings.

  11. its not hard to get 50's. Get good at the game!

First, I have to say that this debate has gotten horribly :offtopic: By the title, it's about the Scoreboard, not the Skill/Level/Ranking system.

Second, the only reason people get to 50 is because there are other players who, by your standards, "suck".

Were all players as good as you believe they should be, there would again be more reason not to utilize a level/rank system, as everyone would be about equal.

Third, to get this back on topic I'd just like to say that the game is meant to be fun. If people want to work plans like pro footballers, perhaps a game that can be more fun to lose than it can be to win isn't the game for such individuals. That said, it wouldn't affect my casual view of the game's multiplayer whether the scoreboard and tactical information were better designed and more accurate. It might even be nifty.

(Edit: changed an "as" to "than")

  12. AAN2: The lord Twam understands and has been there himself, I believe. You are easily forgiven that, my son. As for letting the Confessional die, I would hope the only reason for that was because nobody had been "sinning" in games recently.

MasterShotgunz: Just as long as you don't do that sort of thing regularly - telling tales to lure naive kids into giving you things, I mean. Otherwise, it's quite humorous.

  13. Because you obviously know for a fact that they're creating new games just to line their pockets and not to please the millions of fans they have. /sarcasm

Bungie and 343/Microsoft are a business first and foremost. They create video games to make money. That's what businesses do. They create a product that people want, people buy it, and they turn a profit. So far every Halo game has been a good one, and plenty of people have bought them. Regardless of your opinion on each particular entry in the franchise, they have all been of good enough quality to gain millions of purchases and thousands and thousands of active players. They do give a **** about creating a great game, otherwise you might see them reusing the exact same things for each entry, like in COD for example. They go to the trouble to develop a story people will like, characters people will love, hire voice actors for said characters, create different sound effects, models, and textures for weapons, objects, characters, etc. and spend their lives creating a product that they hope their fans will enjoy. They pour themselves into their work, and you should learn to show some respect towards those who develop a series you apparently enjoy.

    Sing it, sister.
