I'm going to add most of the Genesis games in Sonic's Ultimate Genesis Collection. Sure, Sonic is a fun game, but all the others in this collection are dreadful. Golden Axe? Hate it. The hit boxes screw me up all the time. Streets of Rage? Same issue as Golden Axe, those stupid hit boxes. Phantasy Star? Terrible! Vectorman? FFFFF-
That's a dangerous opinion man. I'll concede that Golden Axe has aged but I still enojoy them (give the third a try it fixes a lot of the issues of the first and second ones). Streets of Rage 1 has the same issue (however the music really brings the game up a few notches) however Streets of Rage 2 is probably the best beat em up game ever made and is in my opinion the best game for the Genesis (which is my favorite console).

It's great to see a sucessful company still wanting to do something different. I love the Fable series but would prefer something new.
-
I have no interest in any of the new consoles.

Interesting. Maybe there is hope for the industry now.

Shouldn't this go in the other gaming platforms section? However my favorite game boy color games has to be Power Quest.

I find it funny how most GTA type games and GTA wanna-be games turn out being way better than GTA (In my opinion and a LOT of my friends opinions), the only good GTA game is honestly their new game, GTA 5.
GwG was supposed to end after December so I honestly don't have any clue when/if it will.
See I agree with you to a fault. I think most of the "GTA wanna be games" are better (although I haven't played Saints Row) the only GTA games I like are Vice City and San Andreas. When IV came out a lot was changed and I completely lost interest and I didn't bother playing V.

Too bad the WiiU lacks third-party support which really limits its library of excellent games. The WiiU bombed big time, and I'm not sure how long it'll be until Nintendo are knocked out of the console market, along with Atari and Sega.
The WiiU may not be doing well but Nintendo rules the handheld department so I think they will be able to soldier on.

Hopefully Sailor Moon can come and save the anime industry from the awful situation it's in now.

It seems most "serious" or "hardcore gamers" don't like COD or sports games.

We need better free games, I'd like to add. Maybe games like Gears of War 2, or Black Ops 1. Just something that's worth downloading and playing again.
I think Sleeping Dogs is a fair one. However I do agree most of the Games for Gold have been pretty lackluster.

But consumers do demand it though.
I disagree. In order for consumers to demand something in the video game market they need to stop buying the products that continue to come out. Nintendo won't stop making Mario games unless people stop buying them.
-
The biggest problem with Nintendo is simple they are stuck in the 90s and 80s take the Wii u ads they are advertising family gaming but the thing is family gaming doesn't exist Nintendo is trying to live on a market that doesn't exist they believe there name will sell there products the thing is the industry isn't like that and Nintendo is just stuck doing nothing and staying in the safe zone Nintendo need to fire people and get fresh blood in there.
The problem is Nintendo is still able to sell games because of their established name and IPs. The only way they will try something new is if the consumers demand it.

And from the graves the Dreamcast thread returns (peaseants rejoice).

Since everybody else seems to be making lists I may as well make one as well.
(in no particular order)
1. Cowboy Bebop: Probably the reason I got into anime. I watched the movie with my uncle when I was knee high to a grasshopper.
2. Ghost in the Shell: One of my first exposures to cyber punk. Probably my favorite anime. Although in truth I prefer the movie.
3. Dragon Ball: Almost everybodys first exposure to anime. The definitive shonen. I do watch it mostly for nostalgia but I always get a kick out of it and have seen almost every episode (haven't finished GT but I don't really have an urge to) which for a shonen is rare. The other shows listed are much much shorter. Which is what I prefer.
4. Golden Boy: One of the funniest comedies of all time. It's only six episodes long but they are so rewatchable that it's not even an issue.
5. Neon Genesis Evangelion: Despite it's pretension still one of my favorites.

Not very surprizing. SInce the turn of the century Video Game companies have only taken more from the consumer. The prices goes up and we get less and less.
-
I've never heard of these titles before, but hopefully they'll be good enough to enjoy somewhat. I'm not one to complain, especially if it's free, but I do hope to see more titles that were successful when they were produced.
But like I said, FREE. So they're automatically a must download.
I'm really surprized you haven't heard about Sleeping Dogs. It was a pretty popular game when it came out.

Her doesn't look too bad. The sci-fi concept itself of falling in love with a machine is at least 60 years old but there are many many ways it can be done. I certainly wouldn't mind going to see this. But they don't make good movies anymore so I'll probably hate it anyway.

It would be nice if Nintendo tried to do something new for once.

It's nice to see a company finally getting it's due. if we could start seeing more of this the industry might just have a chance. EA and all it's subsidaries have done nothing but contribute to the complete stagnation of the medium.

I know but the majority is multiplayer. Would you like to play the same missions again and again about 80 times? Would you like to play the same modes about 5000 times?
Maybe not 80 times but I certainly would like to a second or third time. Games like Bioshock and Condemned offer very linear gameplay with no multiplayer. However I do think there is a reason to wanna replay them and I don't think it's unreasonable to ask for backwards compatability.
-
I actually think both franchises tend to lack in the music department. The original had a pretty competant score (and Halo 2 had some moments of brilliance as well) but overall I'd say the music in Halo is unimpressive. I think Marin O Donnell creates really generic and uninspired music. The score for Mass Effect is in the same situation. I think it's lifeless, the music only works to "tug at your heartstrings" rather than express any true emotion. I would say games like Castlevania, Metal Gear (excluding MGS2 and MGS4), and the Streets of Rage series have much more interesting music that not only works to assist the mood of the game but is listenable on its own.
-
Who cares about backward compatibility? That game you will play on the One from the 360 will probably be empty of players in 4 months.
There is more to video games than just multiplayer.

I thought it was a pretty good movie and certainly head and shoulders above anything else released in 2013.
