gcse grade averages in UK - 6.7% A* awarded, 68.8% A*-C (pass). meanwhile at muh school: 32% of all exams passed with an A*, 60% of all exams A*/A, 95% of all exams passed with A* to C. Much proud, yet very regret

Nope. The grade boundaries vary with each set of exams. They're based on the ranges within the curve as well.

As much research as I've put into figuring out how the UK's grading works, I still have no idea.
Why can't it be as simple as Australia's dammit.
