  1. I finally made the jump to the XBOX ONE.  An early birthday present from my wife and kids.  I was excited for Halo 5!  I paid a pretty penny for the special edition XBOX ONE.  When it came, I was disappointed to find out that no versions of any Halo game I owned would play on the new system.  (Although, as I type this, they are slowly being added.)  I accepted that fact, and decided I would just end up buying the XBOX ONE collection at a later date.  It took me some time to figure out the menu system on the XBOX ONE.  I really do not like it at all.  I have given it a chance, but still cannot easily navigate it.  It feels like I am being force fed something I did not pay for.  Again though, I realize the largest consumer group for this generation of consoles probably doesn't care, and this does not include me anymore.  I thought, if this is how the experience is going to be, then I might as well accept it and move on.  And, at least Halo 5 installed and I would get to play it on day 1 without leaving my house!

It has been common knowledge that the X1 doesn't play 360 games. Just a touch of research for your purchase would have told you that. Also, I wasn't  fan of the menu either, however, there is a new one coming through an update shortly....

Halo 5 was pretty.  But that is where it ends.  I played through the campaign over 3 days (day job permitting!).  Between the horrible AI of your team members and the distracting voice acting, I had a hard time swallowing this one.  (I'll leave out what I thought of the story, as I realize I do not own the story.  On a side note, does anyone call the FBI FeeBee?  Who decided how the ONI should be pronounced?)  After I finished the campaign, I wanted to play it co-op with my oldest daughter, only to find out the game does not allow it.

new for a long while split screen was not going to be in this game, again, research. But I do think Halo lost a lot by ditching split screen...I played the rest of the games with my son, and now I cant. I got the Limited Collector's Edition game and the console to fix this problem and that irritates me....

If there was any way to return the game I would.  If I had a physical copy, I would have tried to return it to the store I purchased it from.  Barring that, I would have sold it to Game Stop for store credit.  Playing co-op with my family was that important to to my household.  I have turned off friends from buying the game that feel the same about this issue.  I know 343 Industries is responsible for this, but did Microsoft have any say at all about it?  Was it even an afterthought that not all Halo players do not play online?  Because of this, I may be done with the series.  Not a big deal for 343 Industries and Microsoft, but a pretty big deal in my house.

Its a big deal to me, too. The absence of Split Screen is the biggest miss of this release. Pretty much everything else I have let slide....

So that leaves me with a special edition XBOX ONE that I regret buying.  I thought that with the amount of time the system has been out, the majority of the bugs would have been worked out, and it would be similar to the XBOX360 experience.  I half expected it to work like my Windows Phone the first time I saw the menu system.  (Yep, I am one of the few supporters of the Windows Phone OS by choice.)  I was surprised that the console did not come with with a Connect given the price tag.  Not a deal breaker, but I double checked the box just to be sure I didn't miss a Connect when I removed the console from the box it came in.

I was sad when I read the box and it didn't include a kinnect. I am also a Windows Phone User, been using the OS since it was introduced as Windows Phone 7 on a HTC Arrive. Use the console for a while...I got my first one on release day, and it has grown on me....

I have had a better experience playing online games on my phone and PC than I ever have with a console.  It's no ones fault.  I just do not care to deal with the poor attitudes of the vast majority of console gamers in the world that do not have a healthy view when it comes to competitive online play.  I feel that the XBOX brand is heading in an always online direction.  Because of that, I think this will be the last XBOX that will sit under my TV.

All consoles are moving to an always online system. To better streamline content and yes, for locking stuff down. Its the way everything is going and it sucks, IMHO. I get tired of dealing with random online players, they are jerks more often than not. I was playing with this guy today that was mad because I only managed 6 kills on slayer and the team lost by like 25 kills. He only got 13 kills himself and went way neg on K/D....a good player could have made a difference, even if one guy was a little weak.

I toiled over typing this out.  Whether this gets me a refund for the game, or just goes into the either of the internet, does not change the fact that I (for the first time) regret buying a game console.  And I proudly own a 3DO and a Virtual Boy!  I just thought someone in the business should know how important playing together -was- to many of us out there in video game land.

Playing together is important, I think more important than 343i or MS thought it was. I don't regret buying either of my X1s, but I understand where youre coming from. I cant believe you have a Virtua boy....like wow, I thought all those were burned and buried....lol

  2. After waiting hours in line at the Mid Night release of Halo 5 and then waiting the 3 hours it takes to download I was left with nothing but disappointment...

So like many of us Halo players we live for the campaign and how Master Chief is going to save the world one more time. We all were upset in Halo 4 when we lost Cortona... So what do we do? We shoot right to the campaign slap good ol legendary mode on and go to work.. Well after hours of stressful game time with friends I finally reached the last mission..  As the last movie clip of the game started I got up with excitement and couldn't wait for what was going to happen.. Well 343 you did it again.. You have ruined my Halo experience.. the 45sec clip at the end was one of the most disrespectful things you could have ever done to us Halo Fans.. I mean what were you even thinking? or did you even think? It honestly feels like you stopped caring 3/4 into the campaign and just took a giant crap on us...

So after hours of game time it took  to beat it i get one of the worst endings of a Halo game yet.. But wait! Of course they must of threw some awesome armor sets and unlock ables into the pot for beating it on legendary!?....

NOPE! I GOT A GIANT THANK YOU! 343i thank you for wasting 12 hours  of my life trying to beat the campaign on legendary to find out you get nothing for it... Yay achievements.. NO ONE CARES!

I will be trading this in for Fallout 4... and again Thanks 343i for ruining my Halo experience...

  3. With skill you can counter any weapon in Halo, even the Rocket Launcher...

No power weapon is instant death for someone. If you instantly die because some one else got a power weapon, you need to improve your playing skills a little.

  4. After quite a bit of time, planning and some hard work from the other staff here. I am very happy to announce that Doc's MineCraft will be back up by the end of March.

Here is a quick screenshot I snapped today...

There will be more news and pics coming in the next few weeks.

There should also be some video footage surfacing soon as well...

  5. Looks like a ton of people bought into the hype. I, myself am not overly impressed with the game. Is it a good game? Yes. Is it ground breaking and like nothing I have ever seen before? No.

Over all I find it feels a lot like Reach....with typical Bungie level layouts. Fight from A to B then defend B then fight back to A. Very repetitive.
