I'm having the same problem. I'm trying to install from xboxLive right now and so far so good. 15% percent in and no problems. To install from Live just pop in disc 1, go to infinity, hit "A" on War Games, then choose install from Live. I think you have to install War Games and Spartan Ops separately. I'll confirm whether or not it works when it's done.
