  1.

What was the point if playing ODST then?

    :P

Anyways, they still are, but they are a lesser version of previous Spartans, But these ones are just faster and more agile and what not..

seriously you make it sound like they are super shock trooper versions of odsts.

They must retain some measure of strength from then original Spartan projects or there is no point in naming them Spartans. They might as well BE odsts. By making them simply faster is pointless chase any well trained solder can be fast, they even describe buck as if he were any better he would be a Spartan, and rookie was even better than him.

  2. Halo 3's campaign was way better, thats not to say Halo: Reach's was poor. Halo 3's campaign was deep. it effectivly showed the hardships Cheif faced without Cortana's help, and how he learned that the Arbeiter was as much a victim as him, and how they became freinds against impossible odds, and how learned the Elites could be trusted, given the chance. His emotional reactions are displayed well, given that you can't see his face. And when he is re-united with Cortana, the game essentialy re-ignites the Halo CE mission 'Two Betreyals', to reflect their reunion. The Halo: Reach campaign effectively portrays the fall of Reach, against the Spartans and Reach itself. The way they kill off Jorge first is excellent at portaying that the toughest can fall first, as he is a Spartan II. It also had a very sad ending, seeing your own Spartan make a last stand, knowing he will fall. The way the feelings of Noble Team reflect as they lose more members is also well done.

As far as multiplayer is concerned, Its a little more complicated. Halo 3s multiplayer is often said to be flawless, which in many ways, it is. Effectivly balanced weapons, vechicles and equipment, good selection, and good, original maps or well chosen remakes.

Halo: Reach's multiplayer, however, had very mixed reveiws. Some of Bungie's ideas were good but they were weighed down by the bad ones. The basic maps were recycled from the campaign and remakes were made on Forge World so the rotation of the satelite on Acension didn't happen. they basic maps were ultimately quite poor and only a small number were really in any way well made for multiplayer. The number of overpowered Items was high. The Armour Lock being the most infamous. Explosions were too powerful, and many balanced aspects from the beta were toned down for no reason (Plasma Luancher tracking) and many overpowered aspects were left untouched (as previously mentioned, Armour Lock). The good aspects included the addition of sprint, intresting new vechicles, much more armour customisation. The ranking system required no skill whatsoever, all you had to do to rank up was play the game alot. MLG even dis-agreed with the changes and removed it from its leagues.

So in my opinion, I have favourite aspects from both games, but i'd have to say Halo 3 was better, it was more balanced, better story and It had better maps.

  3. The BR looks alright. I can kind of understand how they wanted to keep things fresh and make it seem like there's been updates since Halo 3's time period. To honest though, the gun I'm not too fond of right now is the Sniper Rifle. Am I the only one who thinks that gigantic scope looks a little over the top? I'm a little concerned that we may lose some screen space to this massive bo on top of the gun...

Yeah I thought that to, it is WAY to big. seriously, it looks ugly, like some sort of satelite probe.
  4. He actually fell from within the atmosphere at a relevtivly low altitude. Also try to remember, the Spartan IV's are not like chief, they don't have ridiculous augmentations that make their bones and muscles and stuff stronger. Just faster.

The Marine even said '2 Kilometers, easy.' thats 1 and half miles of freefall., and the gel layer is in the armour, not the body, so again, they could survive many of the death heights that you could die from in reach. Now considering that in Halo CE, you take fall damage, it would make sense in halo reach, that you take fall damage, as this is before even Halo CE. But now, as Halo 4 is set after Halo 3, were Cheif survives his 2 Kilometers or 1and a half miles of freefall, in his MJLONR Mrk. VI Armour, and survives, as it now has a gel layer, so by that logic, the halo 4, Spartan IV armours will have gel layers, hence, they should be able to survive vey high fall heights such as the Cheif did in Halo 3.
  5. Well considering Darth Maul got cut in half, just the same as Anakin and was relatively less injured than Anakin... Yeah he totally could have came back in episode 2. Vader came back in episodes 4, 5 and 6 after he was cut in half. But because Maul was like 30th most important character in the Star Wars universe, he didn't come back. Johnson was in like top 5 of importance in the Halo universe. Along with Miranda Keyes (also killed off in halo 3), Arbiter (not in Halo 4s campaign) and Cortana, they were Chiefs only "friends" (in the games at least) really..

He wasn't cut in half (Anikan) just most of his legs were cut off, then his body was crisped by lava in places
  6. Halo Wars 2 My Wishlist

    1. Replace Flamethrower Troops with Snipers, by the time a Flamethrower Troop unit got within range of a Jackal unit with the Beam Rifle upgrade.... actually, they didn't reach them. Simaler to Jackal units, there are two, and they start with BRs and upgrade to Sniper Rifles.
    2. Rhino's as usuable, skirmish units.
    3. Spartans should be able to equiped with whatever you want, but you can upgrade their weapon teirs so you can equip better weapons as you level up the teir e.g. teir 1: BR: longer range, less DAM/SEC, AR: Shorter range, more DAM/SEC and Dual SMGs: even less range, even more DAM/SEC. And when a Sartan commandeers a vechicle, you should be able to remove him from the vechicle (if you made the vechicle returns to normal DAM/HEALTH output, if it was captured it is desrtoyed).
    4. Falcons suck, use Hornets again
    5. Warthog comes with a turret standard, its fist upgrade changes to a damage upgrade for ram and less recoil damage.
    6. Mongoose with rocketeer is the new basic UNSC scout, upgradable to spartan laser.
    7. Revenants as part as the Covenant armada.
    8. Locusts move faster, but do less damage, or have less range, not both, probably the latter.
    9. Banshees were to weak, make them stronger.
    10. Add Promeateans as a playable faction, replacing the Prophets.
    11. Add a faction led by the Halo 3 Arbeiter as good guys, so he uses Elites, but also Mrines equipped with Covenant weaponary. His equivelent to Spartans would be the 'Paladin Elites' that work like the Spartans, but with Covenant weapons.
    12. Make Wraiths a bit stronger.
    13. Make the Base Defence Tuurets ALOT stronger.
    14. Increase the maximum unit cap for all factions, allowing for much bigger battles.
    15. Make a Multi-Team mode (If not all ready done, i don't know).
    16. Make the player alerts alot fairer and more accurate.
    17. Include the IWHBYD Skull.
    18. Make the timeline with even more content.
    19. Theatre mode should capture matches this time.
    20. Include The Prowler, Spectre, Phantom, Pelican and Spirit as consructable units for their resective factions.
    21. Include the old UNSC Leader Powers, but completely change the Arbeiter, Covenant and Brute Cheiftan Leader Powers, giving the Arbeiter the Glassing Beam, as we don't know the full extent of the Prometheans powers we can't really suggest one.
    22. Make Scarabs less OP.
    23. Make Vultures Stronger.
    24. Make even bigger maps and make even bigger matchmaking games, with perhaps 5v5.

These are all my wishes for a Halo Wars 2.

    Will it be made?

    We can only hope.

  7. Hello all, not sure if anyone else has seen this yet, but it would appear that Standard Edition owners get access to 6 specializations early if they play by Nov. 30th, which means just about everyone...

    http://www.examiner....-the-game-early

    So my thing is...

I have a question as to why the LE is being torn apart? First LE owners were not given the Strider and Scanner helmets along with the Falcon Emblem, even though it comes with the War Games Map Pass. Secondly, when the LE was first announced it was listed as having an exclusive armor along with the exclusive armor skin, weapon skins, and avatar armor. Well that armor was revealed to be the Recruit armor, but now everyone has the Recruit armor as the default starting armor. And now Standard Edition owners get access to 6 specializations if they play by Nov. 30th? Essentially the in game bonuses of the LE have been reduced to the armor and weapon skin..that is it. I am not really sure if it is worth $100 of my dollars at this point. All of the incentives for getting it are being thrown out of the window. Seriously, why make the LE worthless now, sure it comes with some booklets and the FUD, but the FUD (Forward Unto Dawn) is only downloadable, might as well buy it on DVD/Blu-Ray and have it forever. I am very upset with the marketing, and how lame the LE has turned out to be.

    What do you all think?

In Britian we only get the Xbox in the Legendary package
  8. And 5sk instead of 4sk. lol That's kinda important.

Ahh... so like the DMR of reach without the expanding crosshairs from people didn't like?

I know the DMRs still in the game though, so, is there no recoil?

  9. Johnson's ressurection would be the ultimate story weakener in the history of gaming. Worse than the MW 2 random, stupid, confusing and very, very unexplained reasons for sheperds actions, Or Soaps death in MW 3 (not just saying that cuase i'm Scottish  ). I admittedly have worked out shepards reasons (he started a war he knew he would win, if it wern't for S+P, and make himself look good after MW 1 when he epicly failed despite the fact he wasn't a character).

  10. Like I said before, you need to think realistic. If someone falls off duing a skyjack then they need to die, it's called risk vs. reward. If you go for a skyjack there needs to be something that keeps you from doing it constantly otherwise noobs will all be jumping you, with no hesitation which would actually make the game worse. Even with a stun, it isn't a big enough deterrent to keep people from attempting the jump constantly. Imagine people constantly skyjacking you, just because fall damage doesn't exist.

I say Fall damage needs to stay where it's at.

Halo 3 was fun for the ridiculous fact there was no fall damage, well that and other reasons, as i said, gel layer could have taken most of the impact. cheif survives that massise freefall at the beginning of Halo 3. If you need proof they can survive massive fall height, then there it is

I think there should be a couple of second stun and not damage

This I agree with. No damage, a little reaction though.
  11. Fall height damage sucks. It takes an element of fun out of the game. for example, perhaps you want to try your luck at a mid-air hijack againt a banshee or other aircraft. if you miss, you die. Wheres the fun in that? at least make it optional for custom games if your gonna include it. it was also annoying when you went up a lift and then took damage when you landed. Have you any idea how tedious it is to get the man cannons at the right angle in forge to prevent a player taking damage? Very. and even then, if it works in forge, you'll try it in a custom game later and you'll take damage again, it is incredibaly frustrating for forgers so no: it should not be included. besides,

'gel layer could have taken most of the impact'

    Marine: Halo 3

    Really?

Then what the hell was injuring me when I hit the ground all those times..

Halo 3 has no fall height damage
  12. Nay gentlemen. Ye all be wrong.

There are multiple types of fans for Halo. There are those who are fans of the interesting little glitches that it brings to the table, there are those who are fans of the multiplayer, there are those who are fans of the campaign and single player modes, and then there are fans of the canon. A "true fan" is all of the above. A "true fan" is someone who knows that Master Chief is a brunette, and that the Magnum was the only "precision weapon" other than the sniper rifle in Halo CE, that warthog races usually mean that the campaign is ending, and that you have to jump crouch to get outside Halo 2's second mission's map.

A "true fan" doesn't have to have started with any particular Halo, just as long as they've gone out of their way to either play or know what happened in all of the games. A "true fan" is allowed to like one thing more than another about Halo (i.e. Canon over campaign, multiplayer over firefight), but a "true fan" already tried everything before making up their minds about it.

A "true fan" is someone who is willing to compromise when there are changes they don't like. A "true fan" would say, "Well, I hate armor lock, so I'll play a game mode that doesn't have it." or "Well, I don't like the ranking system, so I'll play a gametype that I know requires skill. It's a shame I can't boast about my truskill, but I'll still have fun pwning people in 1v1's."

People often confuse true fans with fanboys, but they are not the same. Fanboys are convinced that their game is the best, and feel the irrepressible urge to shove their theology down everyone's throat. A true fan is willing to have a healthy debate, but drops the topic when flaming comes into play.

If you are the type who doesn't like a gametype or game mechanic and decides to stand on a soapbox and shout that Halo is turning into a different game, and say things like, "343i sucks!", then you are not a true Halo fan. If you would rather watch the series die than change, then you are not a true Halo fan. If you would denounce a fellow member of the Halo community for liking a part of Halo that you do not, then you are not a true Halo fan.

There is a reason people of the Halo community mock those who constantly complain about things like Armor Lock, Equipment, or Boardable Vehicles. The reason is because those that do shouldn't be playing a game that they so obviously do not like.

Now that you've been educated on what a "true fan" is, let's talk about what "makes Halo Halo." You could say that for each individual person, what makes a Halo game is different. You could say that, but you would be wrong. If you look at all of the Halo games that have ever been made, every single one, there is only one thing that they all have in common. Change. From the massive changes from Halo CE to Halo 2, to the minor (but still pretty big game changers) changes from Halo 2 to Halo 3.

Some might say that the BR is what makes Halo Halo. And they would be wrong. The BR was not usable by the player in Halo CE, Halo Reach, nor Halo Wars. That's half of the Halo games that are out so far.

Others might say that it's the vehicles. They would still be wrong, but they'd be less wrong. In each and every Halo game vehicles have been tweaked. In Halo CE, you could kill someone and take their vehicle, with no damage to the vehicle at all. In Halo 2, the vehicles blew up, but they were also able to be locked onto by the rocket launcher. In Halo 3, the vehicles became crucial in a BTB game, while in Reach the vehicles became underpowered. In Halo Wars, they are essential, in ODST, they are hardly used.

Even more might say that accuracy is what makes Halo Halo, but they too would be incorrect. In Halo CE, the only two weapons that fired in what could even remotely be considered precisely were the Magnum and the Sniper Rifle. True precision weapons didn't come around until H2.

So you see, the only things that have remained even close to the same over the years are the learning curve, and change. And even the learning curve has changed from each game. Which means the only constant is change. Change and people complaining about change, that is.

tl;dr True fans will never hate Halo and the only thing that makes Halo Halo is change. The Director has spoken.

I never read this until Ventus quoted it. That is one hell of a monologue, That would deserve the top grades in a test. People do need to accept change. I will admit, there were times i wanted to kill my reach because of the Armour Lockers on my otherwise favourite playlists, when i still had Xbox Live, but I learned to live with it and play other playlists. If Halo fans do not begin to accept change, they risk becoming like the CoD fanboys that complain about how the newest CoD sucks compared to the last one, but play it anyway, and then when the next one is released, they say the previously mentioned one was good. My friend that introduced me to Halo was unwilling to accept the change and went to CoD, while his 40 or so year old father was willing to play, (With a lot of cursing granted) reach until the end. I was left to play Halo without my close friends. Change must be accepted, the very gaming industry depends on it. so long as Halo continues not to use ADS and it's famous intense battles and reletivly well balanced gameplay, it is Halo at heart, and, in essence, thats all that really matters, is it not?, I like to think so. I started playing at Halo 3, and within one game, i loved it, games change. My joint favourite series of games, Pokemon, changes, and i continue to play them. Why? becuase mostly, change is good. There will always be sacrifices and trade offs (e.g, In battle, now the sprites constantly move, but it's quite pixelated) in gaming, just like everything, those who accept enjoy the games they like the most, and when the game annoys them at times, they cool off on a playlist without the thing that annoys them, or they could cool off on another game, thats the simple solution that many people will not accept, they would rather complain. And that is the real thing that ruins the games, it makes people take sides and then, you have a split community fanbase that hurts the franchise. The deplorable effect that is 'peer pressure' if you don't like the game, play Halo 3, or Halo: Reach if you prefer it. don't drag down the rest of the community with your complaints and cuase a rift. it ruins freindships. Trust me, I know.
  13. To bad he wasn't a SPARTAN II or IIII

then he would be listed as M.I.A

    but nooooo

he had to be the only remaining ORION (SPARTAN I, un-officialy)

R.I.P Sgt. Major Avery Johnson Jnr.

Or, as he calls himself in Halo: Reach

'Sergent Major Avery Blow The Hell Out Of Your Alien Ass Johnson' Reportin' for duty

    Halo: Reach firefight quote.
