  1. I started with Combat Evolved and have followed it because of the story. I have always thought the multiplayer was pretty dull since Combat Evolved. I never understood why so many people liked Halo 2 other than nostalgia.

I mean if someone talks up about how they're into competitive arena shooters they might as well go play Quake or Unreal Tournament.

Anyways I don't care what they do with multiplayer, whatever makes more people happy is what they should do. Just put a good campaign in the game.

  2. Technically we do encounter the Precursors during all three master chief games with flood...technically the Flood are in fact Precursors. So yeah, we fought Precursors...

It would be really suprising if we encounter Mendicant bias, and chief actually communicates with him.

    That would be so badass...

The flood is a precursor creation made from the corrupt remains of precursors.

I still think the owl thing in the first Halo 5 teaser could be Mendicant Bias. In the Agent Locke cutscene when you start Halo 2A you can see it on the Arbiter's screen so it must tie in somewhere.

  3. I DO believe that THAT specific Precursor, the Primordial, is a Gravemind, because it's words all talk based around the existence of the flood for many, many years and with knowledge that only a gravemind should know - especially the implications given that there is no true cure for the flood, but that the Flood itself decided to retreat from the war with Humanity.

The Primordial was in fact a Gravemind, it is confirmed at the end of Primordium.

Also it was my understanding the the dust the humans found wasn't something that made precursors powder, but was actually precursors only desicated. Then just sitting there somehow made it flawed and this was sort of like a beginning of the flood. The remaining precursors who survived then turned the powder into the flood so they could use it to eradicate the forerunners.

I also like to think that the Precursors downfall was a combination of them not realizing that their creations could become super powerful and even attempt to overthrow them. So when the forerunner decided they wanted them dead the Precursors were so surprised and unknowing about that situation they were mostly killed.

I don't want them to ever appear in a game personally. I feel it would ruin the mystery about them. I would much rather have the forerunner fleshed out into a more interesting group if that is even possible.

  4. Yeah cause Microsoft did such a great job handling the "media" aspect of the company.  The Nightfall project won't last past the season they finished or nearly finished.  Microsoft already shut down their extended media division in case you haven't forgotten.  They had that division running for nearly 10 years and never got anything past that ****ty FUD thing.  Microsoft and it's partners have no idea what they are doing with halo or to even manage it correctly.  Just the fact that they had to go back and rehash all 4 Halo's on a new console, just speaks to how much mismanagement and customer loyalty Microsoft is losing.

Nightfall isn't seasonal, nor did they plan it to be seasonal. The media division was also for some Xbox TV thing, nothing to do with Halo. 343 even went to two totally unrelated companies to MS to have NIghtfall and their TV show made, they were really relying on the media division to be a success. Given the closure of the division likely means that Showtime will be the one to air the show also. And for all we know the MC Collection is just to see what multiplayer 2014 people like the best and is working just as planned.

  5. It doesn't need to be on multiple platforms the way it is going. Seems like they are equally focused at expanding the franchise into other forms of media. If Nightfall and the TV show are really successful it could possibly turn into a Star Wars level of popularity, but only if the non-video game things are popular as that would open up more routes for more shows/movies etc.

There is no other franchise that started from a video game that is as far reaching into other media as Halo and I am sure Microsoft/343 knows this very well. They just have to be careful to not drive away their established fan base.

  6. I mean at the end Hood, gives Chief some time off, What does Chief do?c Gathers up Blue team and keeps on fighting! :orly: I thought he was discovering his humanity or something like that......

Here is a theory for that.

We know the monitor tells Chief how to make the Didact go away, but we don't get to read what he actually tells him. We also know that the Didact is not dead and is more like 'contained' according to Chief's words. So given that we saw the Didact's physical body being composed it changes our perspective of how the Didact is immune to being composed. My theory is that the monitor mentioned to Chief that the Didact would be composed, but would eventually become 'uncomposed' somehow. The forerunner have technology that can turn organic matter into digital stuff and vice versa. This is the point that it dawns on Chief that he could maybe bring back Cortana like this and so begins his journey to go find how to do this, hence him ignoring Admiral Hood.

Since we see him alone in that trailer maybe it is possible that he almost becomes mad doing this driving everyone away.

Other than that I was sort of disappointed that none of Blue team was killed by the Didact.

  7. So after following the news on the Internet for a couple days it seems to me that that the hype wasn't bought at all. I'm aware that on sights like metacritic all the really low reviews are generally garbage, same with most of the 10/10 reviews. But when people point it out it doesn't seem to be because of how good a game Destiny is just saying it doesn't deserve to be given a 0 or 1. I'm interested to see what kind of reviews other sights give it, I'm really expecting a bunch of 7's, 8's, and maybe some 9's because AAA title reviews are pretty lenient or they are paid.

As for me I will probably get it during Steam's 2015 Winter Sale when it is $10 or something. I also want to point out that I am on a campus that has thousands of people come and go everyday and I only know 1 person who has bought it and have heard absolutely zero talk about it. Seems like most of their 'success' has come from the pre-orders due to the massive hype train. Will have to wait another week or so to see what it sales are really going to be like.

  8. It sounds like 343 has done/doing a much better job with voice acting stuff than Bungie did.

I'm surprised the interviewer didn't ask the second guy if Guilty Spark was going to be part of Halo 5 in any way. Going off a comment he made I think that it would have been way better idea to make a Guilty Spark 'siri' instead of Cortana, at least from the standpoint of the way the voice sounds. The Cortana voice doesn't sound very good to me and sort of comes off as emotionless. Given that Guilty Spark has a much more robotic voice it could have worked better. Too bad he isn't as recognizable.

  9. The 3DS has been out for 3.5 years.

The Gameboy Color and the Gameboy Advance had a lifespan of a little over 3 years, making it similar to the 3DS. The Gameboy was about 9 years and the DS was about 8 years.

Since the WiiU has been doing pretty doody, Nintendo probably got an evil conference together and decided to release a new handheld knowing that millions of people would just throw money at it. But given that it is Nintendo doing it nobody will think this is a ploy to get money. Just look at the GB Advance SP. It was released, netted Nintendo millions of dollars, then 1.5 years later they release the DS.

  10. Spoiler me britches Self-Destruct... Now I need the full story.

Here is what happens in that issue.

Blue team reunites after MC tells the people in ONI that the Didact wasn't a confirmed kill. They set off to find Black team who was doing something I forget. They find that all of Black team is dead. They wander into a place called the 'abyss' where all the composed stuff goes, and then BAM! The Didact is chilling there on a chair.

  11. There are a few things that I like to brag about being on PC and Minecraft is on the top of that list.

And they say the PS4 is better...

    Nice article N3wsnut :)

The only difference with the next gen and current gen is that the updates can come out faster and you will have an unlimited world to run around and explore in and some people may of sold their last gen console to buy their preferred choice of console

The world won't be unlimited. It will definitely be larger, but certainly won't be massive. The PC version had its world size dramatically reduced a while ago, it hasn't been 'unlimited' in a while.
  12. Nintendo needs new IPs?

*Glares at the 4+ new IPs announced at E3*

Nintendo just made the awful mistake of having no games when the Wii U launched. They also have extremely odd business practices and beliefs which before actually made them unique, but now it is hurting them. However I don't believe the Wii U is down for the count yet. It still sells very well and all 1st Party Nintendo games are exceptionally well made. With Smash Bros coming out this Winter we're going to see a huge increase in Nintendo sales. That being said though I am not 100% confident they will live for another console generation if they continue to suffer major downward trends for several more years, but it is still way too early to come to any conclusion. They're in a rut but still have a chance to get out of it.

If I'm not mistaken it has more than doubled how many units have been sold since Christmas. Then it was around 3 million and now it is almost 7 million. I wouldn't call that 'very well' though seeing as the Xbox One has still sold 1 million more units in the same amount of time.

  13. Adult cartoons have been made. Cartoon Network has Adult Swim.

Here is one cartoon that has aired on Adult Swim and yes people do get shot.

I didn't mention anything about adults. Just because the cartoons can be made for adults does not mean that Halo's audience is appropriate for such a thing.

I have no idea how much of Halo Legends 8 millionish box office revenue is actually profit but the reviews were generally mixed feelings. 4.5 years have gone be since that was released and there hasn't been a word about doing another. I'm sure they have brought the topic up before and obviously it isn't something they want to do at the moment.

And you must know, the Halo crowd is a bunch of 12 years old anyways. :)
