What was stated in the OP was written in the Halo 3 beasturium and is touched upon in the art books along with the encyclopedia. For those that need the reference

Can anybody make a Halo Infinity joke? I seriously tried to think of one but i am still stunned by both the names.
-
well all the information here is a mix from the books.

343 Industries has made a game with no time put into it. It just isn't.... Right.
You do understand that it has been in the works since halo 3 right? it only picked up around the time of ODST.
And you have to bee kidding me with all the errors reach has that you are going to say that was "better".

But in Silentium, most of his memory was wiped, no? So he would have no memory of Chakas, his former self.
He knows himself in silentium though not to mention he was compartmentalized not lobotomized. Only the information that could aid the flood was erased such as the location of the arks, halos, etc.

I don't understand why reach is really brought up since that was a massive fail on bungie not 343I.

This really makes me wonder what challanges the generation after this upcoming one will face. Majority of us are fine with our 360's and will by the next gen consoles with slight reluctance along with skepticism. So what comes after this and how long will it last? I can honestly see us holding on to the next gen systems for as long as possible because we won't want change. We won't want to pay another 500+ bucks nor will we want to see an increase with game prices or restrictions.
-
Well it still stands though. they were over 100 years old and were more or less fine. If anything i say AI's go rampant after 7 years because they are told they will.
-
dude i know it hurts but it would go against the lore that bungie has set together
AI constructs are suppose to last 7 years she lasted another year on top of that before going into rampancy
Bungie never said that. in Contact havest (written by a bungie employee) it was stated that AI's are deleted after seven years for fear of rampancy. not to mention you have loki being like over 100 years old and that AI in cole protocol that was holding it off because she kept herself busy.

The speech in the epilogue was when he was being imprisoned. I think. So it was in the past.
silentium shows it wasn't.
Not to mention in the terminals (past) he notes how the forerunners have been around for a thousand generations but at the end he just says "countless".

If palmer shot Jul instead of Her then it wouldn't be so hot.

whoa i sense a little hostility. I posted because many of the things weren't correct and instead of retyping something i already posted i just linked it.The didact was the only part of the post i directed elsewhere everything else i explained right here man.

The entire point of killing cortana off is so chief would be forced to talk with actual humans. Cortana is the only being outside of his spartans that john TALKS to, johnson doesn't even compare to the relationships he should be having with other humans. 27 years fighting for humanity and he doesn't even know how to hold the most basic conversations because he does all of that with cortana. If he needs back up cortana calls for it, Cortana asks all the questions does all the planning, everything. Without her he will have to ASK others for these things and rely on them.
Do you want to see how the great chief acts without cortana? Read "The Flood", he seriously found himself "talking" to noone because he was so used to cortana being there all the time. He almost got killed several times because he was used to cortana watching his back, he even started freaking out because he did not have cortana.
So if 343 wants to humanize john then getting rid of cortana is the best way to do so.

One of the main subplots in the first two novels "primarily cryptum" was the notion of the two races being the same due to how similar they are. It would probably take me an hour composing all of the stuff from cryptum but i will give you this crazy excerpt from primordium.
These entities were expressing an almost cruelly isolated and lofty interest in the stages of an ongoing experiment. Was there some sense of satisfaction at this melding of so many Forerunners and humans? Some triumphal revisiting of an ancient plan, long ago frustrated, then abandoned, but now possible once more? Could Forerunners and humans be recombined and reverse their shivering asunder so many millions of years before . . . when the Primordial and the last of its kind decided on a larger, wider strategy, a greater plan that would no doubt bring about immense pain, but also a greater unity of all things. . . .
This was when chakas was fused with a forerunner so at this moment both of them are thinking this with their combined knowledge. It's so effing crazy. I have talked pages worth of babble over this passage.
It was forced. In primordium chakas constantly makes a distinction from other AI's we have seen and 343. Yet in primordium he just pops up and is named 343 despite what he said in primordium about not knowing about him.

343I has lied far far few times than bungie and i think you are overracting and being unfair to them.

Um those were elements that were left out because they were going to be explained later. There is an epilogue released which you can find on youtube detailing the Trail of Mendicant bias and showing the forerunners leaving to somewhere.
Infinity was assembled in the Oort cloud at the edge of our system. Not outside the galaxy.
What was really left out was the subplot with the humans and forerunners once being the same that was being hinted at in the last two novels. The whole "Chakas is 343" segment was forced and didn't fit what he just said in primordium. The San Shyuum never had their true involvement explained, etc etc.

I still don't understand how the amount of people playing halo 4 has anything to do with how you enjoy halo 4. A lot of my friends don't like eating at golden corral but that doesn't stop me from going.

Yea, The Didacts ship would probably be able to take on the entire fleet of high charity alone.

Keyes was able to resist because it was noted the flood forms were weak from being dormant for so long. We don't have a single account of anything resisting infection when the flood are fully active.I have not seen a single indication in the halo canon with the flood dying because they couldn't infect a lifeform nor does that make sense because the flood can revive the dead.
So the fact that the humans who were said to the cure died while being infected is rather important. I see no reason for the primordial to test this cure if the flood were pulling back the entire time. The characters in the novel even suspected the reason for all the experiments.
uperior, intensely pure curiosity—far colder and more precise and disciplined than anything I had ever known. Could Forerunners and humans be recombined and reverse their shivering asunder so many millions of years before . . . when the Primordial and the last of its kind decided on a larger, wider strategy, a greater plan that would no doubt bring about immense pain, but also a greater unity of all things. . . . Through the Flood, the Shaping Sickness. The greatest challenge and contest of all.
There had to be some reasoning with the primordial doing all of that because i say again, i do not think we would waste his free time.
Our minds reel at the sudden release of Halo radiation. No neurological being, no biological system, can withstand for long proximity to such a discharge. The multidimensional radiated field stretches out, as designed, to Path Kethona. Massless, subtle, deadly, it will cross that great distance in mere instants. Halo energy does not recognize space and time.
Path Kethona is already dead.Sorry i am just being technical that is all. The flood was an unintended side affect but yes at this point they are one and the same. I get you.
But Sc-fi doesn't always work like that. I'll stop talking about this point though.

I don't know if i honestly trust the statement about there not being a cure whatsoever because of this
He raised his arm as high as he could. “Beside it flew a large machine with a single green eye.” He laced his gnarled, knobby fingers together, shaping a kind of complicated ball. “These two spoke in our heads as well as in our ears—telling us of our fates. The Primordial and Green-eye were deciding who would live and who would die.
“But some who had been taken to the Palace of Pain returned. At first we were happy that they were back, but then we saw how some had changed. Some grew other skins, other eyes, other arms. They broke apart and joined together, then made others sick. They wailed in pain and tried to touch us. These poor monsters died, or we killed them later. “And Green-eye said to the Beast, ‘Not all resist . . . not all survive.’ But most do. Why? Why do many survive, but some do not?” Gamelpar shuddered. “Twisted death. Death that spreads like spilled blood. Those who survived . . . who did not die . . . the Forerunners took some back to the Palace of Pain, and some they left behind. We do not know how they chose. And then . . .”
Why would the Primordial spend it's limited free time testing on a cure that didn't exist? How could the flood just die off? Why would he being leading MB on when the machine is on his side?
I think there was a cure because the precursors themselves clearly aren't invulnerable so the cure combined with the willingness of the Humans to give themselves up might have pushed the flood back. There was no reason for the primordial to go through such lengths if there was absolutely
no cure to start with.I can get the quote for Path Kethona being Wiped out by the ring if needed.
Well they said halo 5 would be darker. I don't think they will just bring the precursors in as we are just now getting the forerunners after ten years. The origins of the flood would be an interesting bit to explain if done right.
Well halo 3 was to explain that but had a major change in development just before they put the game out. If you read the original script you see many things that were to happen then going on right now.

I don't understand why people talk about "Population" with such vigour. If you like the game play the game getting caught up with all this other stuff doesn't do nor change anything.
-
Which is something that annoys me. The website is suppose to be for adults only yet it is comprimised with children who thing that disagreeing with them means you are calling them stupid. If somebody had a stupid idea on bungie "Master chief is a girl" It wouldn't fly because everybody on them. While if that were said on waypoint you would have people passively try to explain why that is wrong. Clearly isn't working out.

Glad to hear this now the only issue witll be the price. Hopefully we will see more lasting Franchises too because the xbox had a quick run with Gears and Mass effect compared to halo.

The bungie mods were never this anal. :/

Kickstarter for The first publicly accessible space telescope!

I think this belongs here if not move it or delete it but i would like to spread this around and get many people aware as possible.
"Since the formation of Planetary Resources, our primary goal has been to build technology enabling us to prospect and mine asteroids. We've spent the last year making great leaps in the development of these technologies. These advancements have presented us with the opportunity to engage in another passion of our team:
to make space exploration accessible to everyone.
Space has always been something that most people only dream about. Very few ever get the chance to experience space — to feel that overwhelming sense of awe described by astronauts. Our challenge and vision is this: how can we make
that a reality?"
Seeing as we are all halo fans i feel like this would be something very important to bring up. Sure it isn't the first spaceship, mining colony, etc but this is a pretty big step towards those goals. Even if you aren't going to donate at least spread this around to those that may and encourage them to do the same.
