  1. The Halo TV Series will focus on Master Chief

Took a while, but we've got some more news on the TV series.

Announced in 2013, it got everyone hyped, however 2018 is the year all the dead hype resurrects. Here's what we have:

    • 2020 premiere, early 2019 production: 2018's coming to an end, believe it or not, and as each day passes we're getting closer to the next year. Spielberg's series will begin production soon, and we'll see the first episode sometime in 2020, if all goes to plan.
    • 10 Episodes for the first Season: I think this is a fair choice, 10 good-length episodes. A lot can be packed in, whilst keeping it all relevant. If the show isn't going so well (which I doubt), they'll be able to end it soon as well.
    • Master Chief will be "a lead character": "a", so he may not be the only primary focus, but it's likely he will be. There were many theories before about what this could be about. Harvest, Reach, post-Human-Covenant War. Now we have a better idea of who will be involved, with John-117 taking centre stage.
We'll have a few other big names working on the series, such as writers Rupert Wyatt and Kyle Killen. One of the best parts is that Showtime's CEO David Nevins has said the series is "futuristic, space-based science-fiction, it's not fantasy". I feel that they're working hard to make sure this series sticks to Halo's roots.

  2. Halo Wars 2 Beta Date & Other Info Revealed

Information surrounding the Halo Wars 2 Beta was leaked accidentally in the Xbox Store today: supposedly ahead of it's planned reveal at Microsoft's E3 conference on June 13th. Said leak apparently was a result of Xbox Director of Programming Larry Hyrb aka 'Major Nelson' following said page.

Based on what was shown, the Beta will run from June 13th to June 20th. The full list of info gleaned is below:

    • "Be among the first to experience the explosive return of real-time strategy to the Halo universe in the Halo Wars 2 Multiplayer Beta for Xbox One", the opening paragraph reads.
    • Will run from June 13th, 2016 - the day of the Microsoft Press Conference, but not confirmed at what time - to June 20th, 2016 specifically for Xbox One. Windows 10 was not mentioned.
    • Requires an Xbox Live Gold Membership to participate.
    • The Beta will be 13GBs in size.
    • Number of players capable of playing the Beta on one console is restricted to just 1 while it's up to 6 online.
    • The Beta is 100% open, and can be accessed by anyone on it's launch date.

As an indirect response to the leak the official Halo Youtube channel has begun uploading intriguing yet haunting '101s' regarding the events of the first Halo Wars. What this means not only for the sequel but for the original is yet to be determined. The canonically-first episode of the series can be seen here.

Halo Wars 2 is a real-time strategy game slated for release sometime in late 2016 for both Xbox One and Windows 10 - developed in partnership between SEGA's Creative Assembly of Total War fame and 343 Industries. The game will be shown at the Microsoft E3 conference starting at 9:30 AM PT on June 13th.
    Thanks for reading! :split:

  3. Halo Franchise Reaches 65 Million Units Sold!

The Halo franchise has reached a prodigious mile-stone, selling over 65 million units on all platforms to date!

Halo is a legendary series that we've all come to know and love, though it's changed in many ways over the years, it has still managed to keep a sense of magic and awe to it. It's been reported by IGN.com that the game series has sold a combined total of over 65 million units worldwide on the original Xbox, the Xbox 360, and of course the younger grandson, the Xbox One. It is very likely that these numbers will grow higher with the upcoming release of Halo 5: Guardians, and because of it, sales for Halo: The Master Chief Collection may also increase. What is surprising is that Halo: The Master Chief Collection only sold about 1 million copies in its first week, with factors like a broken launch and a new platform tying into the retrospectively small outcome. This year marks the 14th anniversary for the legendary franchise, and Halo 5: Guardians will be the 8th game in the franchise, excluding remasters and mobiles.

  4. RUL's Halo 5 Campaign Coverage

This article will be based on the features shown, and not necessarily the story elements that were revealed. You can go to Greenskull's article here if you would like to read through the whole experience.

    Universal Campaign Features:

    • The AI system is very similar to Left 4 Dead in which 3 AI teammates (the 3 other Spartans besides the Leaders in each Spartan Team: Fireteam Osiris, and Blue Team) will follow around the host until another player joins in. These AI companions will accompany the host throughout the entire game.
    • Each of the 8 Spartan characters have unique HUDs, starting Loadouts, and of course voices & personalities. Chatter between the characters will be commonplace.
    • The player can use D-Pad commands to order around their Spartan Teams. Greenskull stated on the matter, "If you are looking at a weapon and press up on the D-Pad, a teammate will run over and pick it up. Point at an enemy and your team will focus fire on it. You can even direct them to cover..."
    • Similar to Borderlands, every player can be crippled or "downed". The player will crouch onto the ground, and will die if another player, or AI doesn't come in to revive them. The player will still respawn if they're in Online Coop, but if you die in Singleplayer you'll revert to a previous checkpoint.
    • When downed you can press a button to notify everyone else to save you, and all it will take is the press of the "use" button (the button mapping will be different if you're using an alternate control scheme) by a teammate to get you back up. The time it takes to revive a player is around 2-3 seconds.
    Online Coop:
    • Utilizes a "jump-in-drop-out system", which allows anyone to join in and leave without impacting the host's game too much. This means that Join In Progress is in Halo 5.
    • Any new player joining the game can choose which character they want to be (Fred, Linda, Kelly - Tanaka, Vale, Buck). The original Host will ALWAYS be Chief or Locke.
    • Both of the leader positions (Chief or Locke) have access to the D-Pad commands, while every other character doesn't. The commands are somewhat the same in Online Coop in comparison to Singleplayer. Continued from Greenskull's quote above, "With a team of human players, the party leader (Master Chief or Spartan Locke) can still perform these commands (the ones listed above in the Universal section) to help direct their teammates to locations, enemies, or hidden weapons."
    • Lastly, difficulty will be scaled based on how many players are in the game. A mission played on Legendary with 4 players will be more difficult than a Solo run on Legendary.
    Prometheans & Enemies:
    • Prometheans are returning with a new type being introduced: The Promethean Solider (pictured in the image at the top of this article). The only other information there is is that it moves fast, and is around the same size of a Spartan such as the Chief.
    • An ENORMOUS new enemy called a Guardian has been introduced, though Guardians have existed in Halo lore long before Halo 5, and it's currently unknown if these Guardians are connected to the old ones.
    • Standing at 4,635 feet tall, the Guardian easily is the most massive enemy ever featured in a Halo game (the Gravemind is probably another good candidate). Here's an image from Greenkskull's video on Youtube based on scale.
    • ALL Covenant enemies speak English due to Jul M'Dama's authority loosening. He originally banned the usage of English and other human language which is why the Covenant spoke their native languages in Halo 4. This comes from the Halo 5 Gameinformer issue that was recently revealed.
    • The playtesters were shown a brief Campaign teaser, and Greenskull named the things he saw to the best of his ability, "It moved so fast it was hard to point anything out. That being said, what my eyes feasted upon was jaw dropping: massive enemies, space battles, and more. I saw Hunters forming from worms (Lekgolo) on the ground, Banshees flying past a space station, and a flying Forerunner vehicle shooting at a massive covenant station (it almost looked like a mining rig).", he went on to say, "The scale was unlike anything we’ve seen in Halo, specifically the giant vehicle scene. There were vehicles flying around, Covenant shooting plasma through the air, and explosions illuminating the landscape. It was hard not to get excited."
    • The maps have plenty of alternate routes, and passageways aside from the main path. The many nooks, and crannies also harbor secrets. Greenskull found a specific easter egg (a black alien skull looking thing) in Singleplayer, and confirmed that many other eggs are within the game.
The reveal came with an absolutely HUGE amount of screenshots, and HD images, and you can see them all here.

Halo 5: Guardians releases on October 27th of this year, and a full reveal of the game will be in Microsoft's press conference at E3. You can see the whole E3 schedule at IGN.

  5. Halo Fan Game "Installation 01" March 2...

    Posted Image

    July 2014 (CE3 2014 Demo)
    Posted Image

    March 2015 (Current Build)
    Posted Image
Before I get started, I want to say that past recruitment from this site has been great, with the help of talent we picked up here Installation 01 has gone from a concept build in July 2014 (CE3 2014) to the sexiness you see up above. (note: the BR is a placeholder model)

We’ve been delayed by massive reworkings of the game itself for greater stability and modularity, critical elements in a community-oriented game. Being a fan team, we can’t make any money, not even from donations, so we are doing this in our spare time. Professionals, students, and passionate Halo fans coming together with whatever free hours they have. We are making something that we’ve craved for a long time, a full Halo game for PC, Linux, and Mac, boasting classic gameplay and game modes from multiple Halo titles, all bundled into a shiny package of modern graphics.

Positions we need filled so this project moves faster:

    • Proficient in C#.
    • Unity or other comparable game experience.
    • Capable of using Github.
    • Willingness to communicate well with our senior engineers.
    • A team player.

    • Knowledge of GIMP, Photoshop, or any other comparable 2D graphics program. Largely needed for UI and texture work.
    • Willing to work on assigned projects within their deadlines. (we aren’t super hardcore about this,
but this is more about not signing up for anything you know you can’t finish on time).
    • Knowledge of 3D modeling is a plus, but not required.

    • Skills with any widely used 3D modeling software, such as Blender, Max, or Maya. Zbrush is also • welcomed.
    • Work within deadlines (once again, we don’t have a lot of deadlines, just know your limits)
    • Be comfortable with assigned tasks from senior modelers.
    • Doesn't matter if you prefer environmental, structural, or organic modeling, we need you. ;)
    • Knowing how to texture models well is a plus, but is not required.

    Sound and recording:
    • Own/have constant access to professional sound equipment and software.
    • Have experience with sound design for games or professional videos.
    • Willingness to adapt to whatever is needed at the moment. (voice, gun shots, birdsong, etc.)

If you wish to help out as any of those roles, just comment here about it and one of the team members will get back to you soon :)

NOTE: We are abiding by Microsoft’s Fair Use Policy, hence why we cannot make any money off the project, and why we must build everything ourselves, we cannot distribute “rips” of any kind from any Halo game. This is a community project, there is no chance for profit, the only reward for our devs is that they have the satisfaction of making a small dream into reality.

Thanks for reading, here’s some more eye candy:

  6. Halo: The Master Chief Collection Update Beta

Halo: The Master Chief Collection Update Beta

Before 343i releases the next update for Halo: The Masterchief Collection they want to beta teast it first.

A few days ago the patch notes for the upcoming update for Halo: The Master Chief Collection were revealed on Halowaypoint and covered by EK. His article can be found here.

But instead of the usual download prompt everyone gets the following week, a select group of people will get to beta test it first before it is released to the general public. Yes you read it right, a beta for an update.
Members of the Xbox One preview programme located in North America will recieve a message from Xbox Live somewhere these days with an opt-in download to download the upcoming patch to beta test it. A Q&A on how this will all go down for the preview programme members in Noth America can be found here.
The Beta will run from January the 23rd to January the 26th and will eat up 1-2GB of your HDD.

The reason why it will only be tested in North America is to ensure a maximum amount of players during the evening in North America. Strictly business, no hard feelings ;)
A date for the public roll-out of the update has not been released yet.

What do you think of this idea to beta test an update?
    Let us know down below!
As always, thank you for reading! :D

  7. Halo: The Master Chief Collection FIXED?!

Halo: The Master Chief Collection FIXED?!

As some of you might have noticed when you started The Master Chief Collection today, there's been an update (103MB).
    Is it finally fixed now?!

Well the answer is both yes and no...
Yes in that matchmaking works properly now. No more exessive waiting times and working consecutive matches.
But no as in there are still a few kinks here and there. But luckely these will be fixed in the near future.

    Here are the patch notes:

    • Made a change to allow for matches to start once minimum player counts are met, allowing for faster matching times.
    • Made an update to resolve issues that caused false matches to be created, which resulted in a variety of matchmaking issues, including slow matchmaking and bad session starts.
    • Streamlined the process for maintaining party continuity through the matchmaking process.
    • Made an update to the high-level matchmaking flow that will reset lobbies after each match. Moving forward, players and party leaders need to press "B" after the post-game-carnage report, and select a playlist for their next match. This flow is consistent with previous Halo titles.
    • Improved user experience through removal of non-actionable error messages. This will allow for a more seamless matchmaking flow with less interruption and confusion.
    • Improved the post-game experience to fix an issue that could result in a player getting sent to another player’s lobby, rather than returning to the matchmaking screen.
And my god what a difference this makes! I've done a test run on Halo today with 2 friends and we were just able to stick together in a lobby and keep on playing with no freezing or having to force quit the game.
The only thing that does need to be noted is that team balancing might still be a bit off here and there with a one player difference between games. 343i has insured us that this issue will be adressed in the update next week.

    Have you experienced the improvement?
    Let us know down below!
    Thank you for reading! :D

  8. HaloFest Halo 5 Beta reveal

    Posted Image

A colossal amount of information was just revealed for the Halo 5 Beta at HaloFest this year (I'm talking ALLOT of info). The whole video is at the bottom of this article.

Oh, and I'm sure I got some of the information wrong, so feel free to correct me if you see any errors. :)

    Here's the gist:
    • Everyone starts the same. Every Spartan Ability (I'll detail those later on in this article), and Weapon (starter primary, secondary, and grenades) is given to the player at the beginning. No Loadouts. Like how Halos 1-3 were played.
    • All weapons contain a zoom feature, with some akin to ADS (Aim Down Sights). Not all weapons have this, like the DMR (the DMR is nearly the same as it's H4 counterpart Scope wise, and aesthetically).
    • There seems to be a before, and after game animation for each Player Team that shows their aesthetics. The winning team taunts the other team in bravado.
    • Everything listed in this article is based off of work-in-progress material in the Beta. So it's not final. The time the Beta releases makes it the earliest public Halo Beta ever released.
    • There are a total of 7 maps that will be able to be played on in the Beta.
    • There are now Weapons on map as in previous Halo games. NO MORE ORDINANCE.
    • There will be three game modes in the Beta. What they exactly are is not clear, but it's certain Multiplayer is one of them.
    • Power Weapons run on static timers. So a weapon like the Prophet's Bane comes around every 4 minutes.
    • There's a Shield Bar, and Health Bar, but I'm not quite sure how they work.

    Random information from HaloFest:
    • 343i has an internal Pro team they use to test the game. What's pretty funny is that they have Pros vs. Devs... and the Devs get completely destroyed in Halo 5 MP lol. One match was 50-4.
    • Most of the play-testers (like Josh Holmes, some Pro players, and a few other devs) will be online playing with the community when the Beta launches.
    • A couple celebrities came to HaloFest... like: Wayne Brady from "Let's Make A Deal" (that dude is hilarious), Joel Mchale from "Community", and Ben Schwartz from "House of Lies".

Spartan Abilities / Movement & Scoping mechanics:

Allot of new armor was shown at HaloFest, but unfortunately I won't be able to detail them right now due to me already spending more than an hour on this article.

The Halo 5: Guardians Multiplayer Beta begins on December 29th, and runs for 3 weeks until January 18th, 2015.

  9. Halo 2: Anniversary Forge

    Halo 2: Anniversary Forge

As part of IGN first, 343i shows us how Forge will work in Halo 2 on their new 'Forge World'.

We will start off with a huge blank canvas, everything you see around you is part of the skybox so you can do everything you want to do. Place huge slabs of terrain to create an island to work on, go place some trees and rocks to make it look more natural. Once you go in to player mode everything will connect with eachother almost seamlessly.

As an example we get to see an entire map as large a Coagulation forged by one of the dev's to show us what we all can do when we get out hands on.
You'll be able to place interactive elements on the map. Like the EMP which is also featured in Coagulation, switches like we saw in Zenith and interactive doors activated by consoles like we saw in Stonetown. And yes the "Blue screen of death" appears on them when activated like in the original Zanzibar console. :D

    But it doesn't stop there!
Using the consoles you can also spawn in set items in Player mode. From as small as a bridge to entire race tracks. Get creative! ;)

What's also worth pointing out is that we get a glimpse of Beaver Creek that the dev's forged in.
Didn't your favourite map get remade? You can now Forge it yourself!

Get a look at it for yourself here:

Have you already got an idea about how you're going to use the Forge?
    Let us know down below!

  10. Halo: The Master Chief Collection Stonetown/Zan...

Halo: The Master Chief Collection Stonetown/Zanzibar walkthrough and gameplay

IGN recently showded us a walkthough of one of the remade maps that comes with The Master Chief Collection which was Coagulation.
Now they continue the walktroughs with another map, this time it's Stonetown otherwise known as Zanzibar.

Just like last time we get a tour by one of the developers. This time it's Max Hoberman.
He leads you though all the changes Including aesthetical changes, new routes and new vehicles/weapons.
He'll also show you some secrets and how it all came to be.

    Here's the walkthrough:

Along with the walkthrough we also get to see how the maps plays out in multiplayer. A classic 1-flag game to be precise.
See how it plays down here:

What are your thoughts on the new Zanzibar?
    Let us know down below!
    Thank you for reading! :D

Special thanks to Hell Verruckt/Self Destruct for linking this with me!

  11. Halo: Remaking the legend

    Halo: Remaking the legend

With a trailer posted on Youtube, 343i announced that they're working on a documentary about Halo 2 and the anniversary edition that will be featured in The Master Chief Collection.

The Documentary will be called 'Remaking the legend' and will show the entire lifespan of Halo 2 and the work that went towards the anniversary remake. It will also show some exclusive previews on the anniversary edition itself.
The video will take us all the way back to 2004 when Halo 2 released and will tell us what came to be of Halo 2 since the 10 years of its release.
Larry Hryb, Phil Spencer and some iconic 343i devs will all feature in this documentary and will all tell you their views and experiences on Halo 2.

    Here is the trailer:

No official release date has been set, but it'll likely be soon. Most likely even before the Master Chief Collection even releases.
So keep your eyes and ears out!

As always leave thoughts and comments down below!
    Thank you for reading! :D

  17. 72 Hours After (Part 3?!)

Hello everyone! Just recently as you all know there has been a slough of Halo comic books out and around the universe. But some of these comics have been also the "72 Hours After" Halo 4 portion. This tells what has happened directly after the events of Halo 4, A.k.a a three day span.

Just recently, there was another part to come out, part 3. And with that, someone on tumblr had actually posted a picture from the next comic in that specific storyline.

NOTE: Self Destruct beat me to it! The photo IS REAL!

So, here is the picture that has gotten the community to get their 'jimmies' and find popcorn. Even the HaloFollower gave his speculations on this.

    View attachment: tumblr_n7a71iI5oW1rdjn0ko1_500.jpg

Now, most people are speculating this is (From front right to back left) John-117, Kelly-087, Linda-058, and Fred-104.

This is speculated as the armor they wear has a big resemblance to the armor they had in Halo: Legends - The Package. And also because Fred, Kelly, and Linda all were not confirmed KIA, or in the case MIA. Since Spartans never die.

Here is evidence to that claim above.

(Still in order) Kelly-087 (I got a close up on the helmet to compare the markings with the helmet in the comic picture)

    View attachment: Kelly_2.jpg

Linda-058 (Both helmets are practically a more high-tech version of the standard edition)

    View attachment: Halo_Spartan_Armor_3.jpg

Fred-104 (Just look at the helmet design + the big shoulders)

    View attachment: Fred_2.jpg

With all of that out for us all now, what do you all think? I personally think this can be Blue Team. As we can see in the other Halo Comics for the next 72 hours, we see events like a battle with the Chief and the Didact. But also chief using a sniper rifle in the first! Just look below.

One of the most anticipated Minecraft Packs, the Halo Mash-Up Pack, has had a recent reveal of more screenshots for some pre-loaded fan-favorite maps from the old and new days.

The Minecraft Halo Mash-Up Pack seems to be a block-filled redesign of some old fan-favorite worlds, as Halo Waypoint has shown. According to HaloWaypoint.com, in a short blog update, a short number of old favorites and new beauties will be included in the new world. These include the famous Blood Gulch, Lockout (or Blackout from Halo 3), Valhalla, Halo, Sandtrap, and Guardian to name a few of the multi-player ones, with Silent Cartographer and the Cryptum in which the Didact is awakened is also going to be included. 40 character skins will also be included in the pack, letting us play as some of our favorites from the series, on our favorite maps. As well, music and textures have been changed to make for an awesome new Halo experience on Minecraft.

  23. Frank O'Connor Speaks Out About Leaks

343 Industries' own Frank O'Connor, who's been with the team since it's start, has spoken out about leaks regarding games and their faults.

Halo is a series well known by a large number of supposed leaks before a Halo game's launch, often revealing key points that would have otherwise been a surprise. Frank O'Connor, Halo's development director, took to NeoGaf.com to speak about leaks and the drastic problems they cause for developers, likely referring to the large number of recent Xbox related leaks and Halo leaks, but speaking about the Industry in general. He said, "Ultimately he [the leaker] is taking or being given information and leaking it, illegally and often erroneously. And he isn't doing it for some noble or worthy reason. He's doing it for attention." He also referred to it's proclamation as a prophecy, saying that it's "just annoying" and not assisting or helpful in any outcome to the developer or player. Frankie also discussed the overall dissatisfaction and worthlessness of leaking, even mentioning termination of employees for such issues, "It's not fun, and for what? So you can have a mildly interesting surprise 8 hours early and lacking context? Or get hyped or disappointed disproportionately? Or get someone fired or someone innocent yelled at?" This could hint at some of the previous Anniversary or Master Chief Collection rumors being completely true, or the opposite as the leaks could cause false hype.

Do you think this is a ret-con or hint at some previous Halo rumors to go out publicly and make a full speech about leaking? Let me know below, thanks for the read!

  24. New Halo Content Coming to MineCraft

Halo is coming to MineCraft: Xbox 360 Edition!

    Posted Image

Halo Waypoint's Twitter tweeted the above photo earlier today along with the caption:

    "Yes, this is happening. #XBLA"

Little is know about this other than the screenshot above, but it appears to be a Halo themed Mash Pack- DLC for Minecraft that features music, various re-skinned blocks and items, and character skins.
(Similar to the Mass Effect and Skyrim mash packs previously released.)

From the screenshot above we can see that whatever the content is, it will likely feature UNSC Computer systems, sand bag barriers, a needler, and a Halo ring that spans the sky.

If this is a Halo themed mashup pack, you can expect it to cost about $3.99 USD.

Though little is known at the moment, you can expect to see more on this in the coming weeks, as we look towards what will likely be the first Halo mashup pack for Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition.

What do you think of this news? Would you buy a Halo themed mashup pack?
Be sure to leave us your thoughts in the comments section below.

Showtime Vying for Deal with Halo TV Series
The ever famous Halo TV series directed by Steven Spielburg may be shifting from it's Xbox One exclusivity according to Variety. Variety.com says that the show, as well as the deal with Showtime, have been underway for nearly a year and it's been a difficult process, as Halo is such a prime asset to Microsoft. As well, tensions arose because both sides have been charting new frontiers for a new show to air. Nancy Tellem had brought up the show profusely at the New Front presentation recently, but Showtime wasn't mentioned strangely. Representatives on both sides refused to comment on the matter as of yet.

Would access of the Halo TV series become easier and more fluid for you if it was on Showtime? Add your feedback and discussion below, thanks for the read!

Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare DLC to come to Xbox First
Activision's newest title in the Call of Duty franchise, Advanced Warfare, seems to already have exclusivity deals on the way with Microsoft and the Xbox. According to Xbox.com themselves, Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare DLC will come to Xbox One and Xbox 360 platforms before Playstation and PC. This shouldn't count as a surprise, considering Call of Duty: Ghosts also had timed DLC for Xbox One and 360 platforms. The page reveals a wealth of other content as well, such as the name of the leader of this Private Corporation, called Atlas, the man's name is Jonathan Irons.

Borderlands 2 Vita Edition Downgraded to 2 Player Only Co-op
Borderlands 2 on PSVita was a highly hyped title, mainly due to the promise of a full open world game like Borderlands with four player cooperative play in the palm of your hands, unfortunately, this won't entirely be the case. On a blog on PlayStation.com, focusing on the testing of Borderlands 2 on the Vita, Justin Massongill, Sony's social media specialist, stated that the game was being downgraded even though they had aimed for four player parties. He said that "while they [SCEA] strived to include four-player co-op in the game, they made a decision late in their development cycle to focus on providing the best two-player-only co-op experience possible." This decision could impact the sales of the system's bundle with the game now, as many players mainly pre-ordered for the feature they had been promised.

    View attachment: borderlands2_review_massive_gamepage.jpg

What's your take on this matter, will you still purchase the game on Vita, or do you have others reasons to avoid it? Discuss below, have a good day, and thanks for reading.
