You can only play the Anniversary playlists from the Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary disk. If you want to play every playlist and such, you'll need to do so from the actual Halo: Reach disk. Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary's disk only contains the latest map pack for Reach. It does not include any other maps, not even the default maps that came with Reach.

Doesn't installing the disk to the hard drive mean you can have the maps on the original disc? because, the map packs are part of the disc, and if halo reach and CEA are installed, surely the multiplayer packs go with it?

Unfortunately no, the only way to play Reach multiplayer is with a Reach disk. Installing the game to your hard-drive just makes it easier for the X-Box to read the disc, and decreases loading time. It also helps fill in the blanks if the disc is a bit scratched.

OT: my advice is to go to a local pawn shop (preferably one that doesn't know much about games) and pick up a used copy of Reach, and install it to your hard-drive. You will still need the disc to play it though.
