Big #4 "Biggles Style" Headsets, Teamwork, It's Getting Real!

This post is going to be more on the technical side of things, as i feel that is important too.

1. Why is Teamwork important?

TEAMWORK IS ESSENTIAL. I know this is really obvious, but, as i hear many people say "You either work together, or die alone." this is so true, if you try and be a split off from your team, and go nowhere near them, that isn't going to work for 2 reasons.

1. They can't support you if your in trouble.

2. Arguably more important, you can't support them if for example, they are moving a flag along the map, they will just die, because you are not supporting them.

just being above or below a player while he is shooting is important, because, that way then they know they can escape up / down and know hopefully they will have your support, because you are being a good teammate and are trying to protect someone who will die without you.

This is really the most essential difference between Pros And Amateurs, pros are so good at looking after each other's back, i guess the most imporant thing is that if you have your teammates back, they will have your back (Unless they don't want to be good teammates and be complete cold blooded *******)

2. Why Is A Good Headset Essential?

A good headset is essential, because it allows you to hear things that other people can't (people running behind you, shooting at you or your teammates) etc, and to be honest, a good headset just feels comfortable and nicer to wear.

Good headsets are headsets like SteelSeries, Astro, etc, i wouldn't recommend turtle beach because they kinda suck, and they break really easily and other stuff like that, and they are just horrible headsets.

Arguably, a good headset can make you win or lose a game, depending on how you use it correctly, IE, Astro + Mix Amp = Bawss. Quite a short topic, but i felt it was needed. :)

3. Custom game Team slayer / MLG, How does it help?

Custom games can be used for many things, Infection, Hockey, etc, but, I use Custom games for mostly MLG gametypes, or just normal gametypes, because, Custom games is nothing like MM, you can be with your friends and be happy, and if you make mistakes don't worry, because in custom games you are going to refine that, and possibly watch the replay, but that will come later. Custom games are useful because it takes a bit pressure off, in the case that you don't have to worry too much about your teammates opinion of you, i mean obviously you can't be a team killer or anything, but its all useful.

It also allows you to play the different gametypes without having to learn them, quite fast paced in MM, where s in custom games, you can find everything in your own time, and arguably learn more about the map then you could in MM, because you have had time to learn where everything is, and guess what, you may have an advantage in Matchmaking because you will know where everything is, and will know where to get it and when to get it.

4. Why do I do this?

Now, i understand all of these entries did come pretty early and pretty randomly, and i understand this, but i love the community, this community, has become an insperation to me, and i feel i have to give back after all of the amazing times i have had with you guys, and just the community in general, i feel like i can never give back enough, because its not fair.

So, im going to explain a bit about myself

Who am i? Tim Brown

Where am i from? Manchester, England

Age? 16

Favourite Game? Halo / Starcraft

These are all of the questions i can think of right now, if you want any more, please feel free to post in the comments below.

5.Difference Between Online and LAN

For starters, watch this video, this pretty much sums up what i am about to say:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NM81F_zgPG8

LAN = Local Area Network, which basically meand a lot of Xboxes and TV's connected together, no Internet connection is needed, as all of the Xboxes are hooked up, so NO LAG.

Online = Internet, Modem, LAG, Latency, Have more fun arguably, can't see your friends In real life.

Now i did make that sound pretty one sided, but its true, LAN is so much better then online, as my friend once said: "Once you play LAN, its hard to play online ever again.", this is true, LAN IS AMAZING! Its the best thing to happen, LAN is so much more fun, you can chill with your mates, communicate much better, and just have more fun and be a better player. Playing LAN is the qucikest way to get better.

Online is still good though, its great for if you can't attend LANs, its great practive for beginners and everyone, Online is arguably better then LAN because you can play whatever and whenever you want online, something you can't do in LAN.

LAN has a lot more advantages, but online has some benefits, some i haven't said here, which i will let you learn yourself.

GUYS, I NEED IDEAS FOR THESE ENTRIES, BECAUSE IM SERIOUSLY RUNNING OUT OF IDEAS, AND I WANT TO KEEP THIS GOING, SO PLEASE, IDEAS IN YOUR POSTS. :D

In Entry 5, i will talk about:

The importance of watching replays of your games

How playing much better people can help you.

Losing isn't the end of the world.

How the Title update will make the game better

Learning your role in the game.

Future Ideas - Why knowing weaopn spawns is important, does armor selection/color really matter

Once again my good sir you have given us great tips, you're pretty much spot on with everything. LAN parties are indeed da bomb, had a little one last weekend with anniversary and boy did that bring back some memories.

An idea for another entry would be to maybe go through some popular maps and the best strategy to control them. Thanks again man!

I wish I could LAN, but my friends are either in other cities or they're strictly Playstation. I have a 360 but I got a PS3 to play games with my Sony-loving friends. Sadly, they're all lamers who won't get 360's to play Halo with me. Heck I even gave my old 360 to one of them to show how serious I was.

He used it as a rutting paperweight and eventually dropped and killed it. <_<

Got a bit off-topic. Sorry.

Excellent entry, Mr. Biggles. :yes And I feel that a good headset is primary in team communication. So it was in no way superfluous. I actually kind of hoped you'd have done my in-depth headset research for me so I'd know what to look for when I get my butt back online. ^_^

Entry ideas: :o

• 'Nades: When, Where and How (Responsible 'Nading)

• Music While Playing - Why, and Why Not?

• Trashtalk: umad?

• Teabagging: Just Say "No"

And just to throw it out there…

• Q&A/"Chillin' with <member name>"

Just quickly on the subject of teamwork.

It's not always the best idea to move as a team. If you and your fellow players are grouped too close together, it's almost as though you're deliberately asking for someone to throw a 'nade or hit you with an explosive weapon like the Rocket Launcher - it's good to stay close, but don not bunch up. Ever. With 'nades being as powerful as they are, even someone with little skill can seriously punish you for it.

Sometimes it's also a good idea to split up. The guy sneaking around with the Shotgun or the Energy Sword, looking to catch enemy players unawares, won't be happy if there's two members of his team following him around and decreasing his chances of staying hidden. Same thing goes for a sniper who's found a good hiding place: it doesn't help your team at all if you stay close by him, because not only are you making it more likely he'll be seen but unless you've got a long-range weapon too, you probably won't be helping your team.

All that said, there's not much that can stand up to four players with Assault Rifles or DMRs focusing fire (if all four of you DMR the same target, you can actually kill it before bloom even kicks in!), so unless you have a specialist weapon it's probably a good idea to stay close together.

Nice post, you can definitely tell a big difference while playing on LAN . Not to get off topic but the only issue I have is you dont like turtle beaches lol. I have had a number of gaming headsets. Turtle beach x12 is the way to go if you dont want to spend $250 on astros.

There are much better headsets out there then TB's. Steelseries and Astros are the way to go. :)
