Even if Halo 5 could be on 360....

Then what would be the point of getting an Xbox one, you do not realise the amount of people getting an Xbox one simply to get Halo 5, Halo 5 is really boosting the sales of the Xbox one. :)

Besides, the 360 is ten years old!

As everyone above me clearly stated, the power needed to allow Halo 5: Guardians to run on your Xbox 360 would be phenominal and power just isn't something the 360 has anymore. Most developers like CD Projekt Red (The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt) have chosen to shy away from the 360 because frankly, it can't keep up with the requirements for next gen titles.

Not only that, but it would take away from Xbox One sales, does Microsoft really need that whilst Sony and Nintendo push big numbers every day?

Don't you want developers to progress with new hardware? Don't you want them to make bigger and more impressive games? Or do you want them to restrict themselves with 10-year old hardware? It's not a case of them making it One exclusive because they want to, it's because they need to! Technology can't just magically increase its power like that just because of Forum posts.

Also, did anyone at all complain when Halo 3 wasn't ported to the original Xbox? No; people bought the 360 and played the game. Why can't it be the same with this generation?

Aside from the power requirements management/hardware/virtualization side of things, the game could indeed run on the 360, provided less intensive rendering detail objects were removed and the entired Direct Draw shader/rendering system were optimized like they did with Halo 4.

Those pesky middlemans aside, it simply wouldnt work as easily as one would assume. Halo 5 is being developed on an x86 architecture and previous games were designed on a platform built on x64 architecture. The change over is not as easy as pushing a button.

While Microsoft would stand to make a profit, the 2 systems would each have their own isolated, non negotiable multiplayer and solo gameplay. The profits from a 360 version would NOT make up for another inferior version of LiVE servers for the game. Not to mention the patchwork and title updates involved.
