Last night, humanity went to their beds in the knowledge that the oppression of the GDR was insurmountable, inescapable, invincible. Tomorrow, they shall rise to a world in which we have exposed the GDR for the empty shell that it is. At long last, the hated monopoly on the knowledge of the Forerunners has been broken, and our acolytes and confessors have already begun working to discover the secrets of the artifacts, that we might share them with those in need. Whatever this is, it's premeditated and very dangerous, profiles fit OS operational doctrine and equipment but on a massive scale. We have been aware of Operation: Trapdoor for some time, however, the OS is more devious than we believed, and purposefully leaked incorrect information to our agents and monitoring specialists. While we were able to interpret several details correctly, the location of the initial attack was altered completely, with OS forces arriving at the Ragnarok Arena, rather than the Impact Arena. Although all sites had been reinforced with additional forces in anticipation, the scale of today's uprisings was far beyond any of our predictions: in Ragnarok alone, some 307 of our own forces were killed as part of the OS distraction, while 249 OS operatives were killed at the site, for a total of 566 dead, plus a dozen or so wounded. Our Intelligence was able to correctly identify the target of the Titan Cell as [!://NULL] and despite a small number of guards and lack of nearby reinforcements were able to successfully defend the site with the assistance of local mercenary forces. However, the site's security detail suffered heavy casualties, with 47 killed, while the bodies of 62 OS infiltrators recovered afterward: no attempt was made to surrender, although a small number of the attackers yet remain unaccounted for: we believe that [!://NULL]. Site 288 was also attacked, and although we were able to secure 6 artifacts for transport to [!://NULL] the OS was able to retreat with 10 Forerunner artifacts in their possession. Although the on-site forces were able to kill a large number of OS forces, they also suffered moderate casualties of their own: as the loss of the artifacts and compromised security means site 288 is no longer of any practical value, the RIA recommends disbanding the remnants of the security detail for reassignment elsewhere. Overall, today's death toll stands at 923, including 469 GDR personnel and 454 OS rebels, of which 556 were killed at Ragnarok Arena alone. Although our deep-cover operatives report that both the Titan and Phoenix Cells have effectively been wiped out, Prometheus Cell is still active. In addition, almost half of our territories have declared against GDR rule in support of the OS rebellion, and although we do not have confirmed figures for number of dead or wounded as of yet it's suspected that most of our forces in these territories [!://NULL]. Just goes to show how articulated, and dangerous the snake has become. They fight for freedom from oppression, but what happens after the war has been won? Peace? Tranquility? The end they fight so fiercely for is just a means to turn the heads of those easily swain. They hold us in low regard as "Controlling Inhuman Beings", when the real enemy is right underneath them. Inside them. In the end... they are far worse then we can ever become. They are their own enemy. Once they find that freedom has been attained... the beasts will turn on each other. For when the leash is unchained... the demons let loose... peace will hold no longer. The only way to insure peace... is to institute laws. Regulations. Peace can not exist when there are men who would relish in destruction of society, and anarchy. For when the GDR has fallen... the OS shall surely fall as well. What may the solution be? Treaty? Pact? No... Submission. Give up before the war turns into a hell-spawn. The OS will surely fight till the last man or woman standing; that we are sure of. But when the fight has finally started...when they take it to the next level... we will show no mercy. No prisoners. Lastly, the rogue known as "GSD" is a formidable one. He will fight for whoever has the biggest wallet. Initially he fought for the OS, but turned to our side. What was his intention? Does he think we will "forgive" his actions? In time he will face justice... but for now I hope the Commandants will attempt to acquire his honed skills. We surely will need them, no matter where his allegiance lay. Even after bribing the merc we still lost too many battles. But do not fear the war is not over. We are made to be the evil empire, while we have done nothing wrong, we kept this system in peace for all those years and we improved the colonies, with higher, more functional technology.
