I would suggest starting a Blender: Noob to Pro. It's a website that apparently helps you, but one look at it and I realized I probably couldn't understand anything.

yeah i found that too, i started reading it and need to take a break cause it gave me a headache lol, it does seem complicated, though i'm not quite ready to give up yet

If you want a nice book on learning Blender there is always Blender For Dummies. or you can try this book.

If you go to the Blender website they have a link for tutorials which is probably the better option.

I would start off with http://www.raywenderlich.com/49955/blender-tutorial-for-beginners-how-to-make-a-mushroom Thats what I did, and even though im not an Expert, I known my way around pretty well. Eventually youll get the hang of it, but making weapons & things usually take a while (Unless you dont care if it looks good or not)
