All of us that have seen the advancement in gaming graphics and visual effects over the years will no doubt feel the amazing sense of reality that Crytek's newest engine, simply named 'CryEngine', brings to the gaming arena. They have brought physically based shading onto every surface which offers the most realistic feeling to the player. Physically accurate skin and eye shading along with deep facial skinning will make you think you are seeing live actors instead of player models. The CryEngine's ability to perform complex simulations with integrated cinematics reveal the most intense and visually stunning scenes that development artists can imagine. There are other features this new engine brings to bear on Crytek's newest game Ryse : Son of Rome

Carl Jones, a Crytek excutive, stated that, "Since CryEngine 3 was launched in 2009, we've dramatically changed the engine so many times, with so many major new features, it's not the same engine anymore.". He also spoke to their desire to create games in 'real time' when offering the changes made to the newest engine.

"We have revolutionised many parts of the engine: we have overhauled our entire lighting system, built movie quality character rendering and animation solutions, vastly improved the speed and effectiveness of our Sandbox editor, and even our rendering has changed with tessellation, pixel accurate displacement mapping and now physical based rendering; all of this while maintaining our first principal: that making games should be real-time, all the time."

Below are a few images and a video demo of the new CryEngine as well as the E3 game play demo from June 10th 2013.
