Pershing proceeded towards the drop bay of the frigate, making sure his Helljumpers were prepped and ready.

He walked through the doors and gave a nod to each of the troopers as he walked by.

They stood and watched him intently as he turned around.

"Alright girls, I hope you know what today is!"

"Ace?"

"It's the rookies first mission against the dinosaurs. I hope you made him feel real confident. It's gonna' be a hell of a mission rookie, boss gave us the big toys to play with."

He pointed over towards the heavily armoured pod, which was being loaded with a nuclear device.

"Now, let's get a quick review of the plan. We're dropping one mile south of the station here. From there, we have almost an hour to get the job done. Anything after that and the cruiser here will be too close for Pelicans to land."

He looked up and stared each of the troopers in the eye before continuing.

"Now, we're gonna' have two teams. Yours truly will be leading the recovery team to extract the data from this site here. Team 2 led by Higgins will be in charge of the bomb. You'll be planting it here. Remember, 5 minutes to detonation. Extraction bird will be meeting us here. Also keep an eye out for this target."

He produced a picture and passed it around.

"He'll be wearing greenish armour. Top elite weapons researcher. There's a nice bonus to our pay if we bag him alive, less if he's dead and verified. Any questions? Good, time to party."

The troopers proceeded into their pods and Pershing began the ready check.

He sat himself into the metal coffin and strapped in.

"Helljumpers ready for drop, just give the order."

"Confirmed, countdown begining."

The beeps slowly went by and before he knew it he could see nothing but atmosphere.

He looked around for the nuclear casket and watched it closely.

Techs better have done it right or it was going to be a short mission.

"If the rookie dies, I call dibs on the ammo!"

"If the rookie dies, you're going to carry the body back to earth yourself. Thats an order."

"Shut it ladies, incoming plasma fire."

"Shades, nothin' to worry about."

"IMPACT!"

The pods thundred down and smashed into the ground, bursting open to reveal bullets and muzzle flashes.

"Go, secure the bomb pod. Team 1 on me!"

They proceeded through, engaging the light poistions along the way. A loose collection of under-equipped aliens guarding a weapons lab was nothing compared to fighting the Covenant.

The inexpierence showed when the ODSTs blew through quickly.

"This is team 1, we have breached the southern defenses, proceeded up now."

"Confirmed, 47 minutes left."

"Alright, we're heading to the main structre now."

Lone grunts that saw the squad ran in sheer terror. Jackels formed ineffective lines and were led by semi skilled leaders.

"Thought there would be more fight from a place like this."

"Intel placed a much stronger force here. Sleeping maybe?"

It wasn't long before that changed. An Elite ultra team set up poistions in the central chamber and quicly tore one of the troopers to pieces.

A long drawn out firefight ensued, taking the lives of two more troopers. The elites fell back to the core, daring the ODSTs to come after them.

"This is team 1, we were engaged by an elite spec ops squad, three KIA. What's your status?"

"Only encountered minor resistance, no losses. We're waiting for your go."

Pershing recovered the dog tags and looked towards the remaing four troopers. Only the rookie was visibly shaken.

"Kid, take that rocket launcher."

"Sir I..."

"That's an order."

They moved forward and stopped outside the door to the central chamber. Very carefully they placed a breaching charge and assumed poistions.

"CLEAR!"

The door burst open and they stormed in. Only a single elite was in the room.

They moved slowly towards him aiming their guns. It was their bonus.

They all wondered where the other elites were.

"He's got the data, detain him."

"Wait, hold poistions!"

"Ace?"

"Where are the elites."

They engaged their VISRs and noticed how two of their troopers were held at sword point without them knowing it.

It was almost and instant before the elites disarmed them and held them hostage.

"Anyone speak alien?"

"They're going to use them as bait to escape."

Pershing noticed the rookie aiming his sidearm towards them.

"Kid, draw that laucher."

"Sir?!"

"Do it."

The elites became tense at this, the troopers were nearly suffocating.

Pershing looked towards both of the troopers and nodded. The nodded back.

"Let loose the dogs of war!"

The rookie fired the launcher, killing the elites as well as the troopers.

Pershing verified the body and recovered any bits of intel he could find.

He patted the rookie on the shoulder as he began to walk out.

"You did alright. Team 2, we're done here. activate the bomb, then double time it to the EZ."

"Confirmed."

"Alright, lets go. Move it people!"

Kel arrived on the moon discreetly. It was surrounded by Covenant forces. No entry point other than the front, which was suicide. Besides, he was on an intelligence mission. No bloodshed was required. The Arbiter climbed up onto the roof of the base, and made quick work of the Sangheili Sentry by snapping its neck. The armor had two red eye holes, and the sentry was carrying a beam rifle. Kel's cloaking remote served him well throughout the years. The armor fit snug over his own armor, so he had the perfect disguise. It was time to get the mission done. Kel dropped in through the roof, and made his way down the halls....

FZZZT! Kel's energy sword sliced a Sangheili in two. There was one problem, Sentries weren't allowed in this area. It was restricted to Officers and the Commanding Zealot only. He had to get the information and hightail it out of here. The hallways were filled with Grunts and Jackals. A quick plasma grenade could take them out easily. But wanting no more bloodshed, Kel activated his cloaking remote and sneaked past them.

He came into a room, and it was heavily guarded. Four Sangheili Ultras. All protecting a electronic pedestal of data. Kel could slip in a flash drive and get out, but he would get caught. Ultras were made because of there good hearing, and would find Kel in a matter of seconds. So the only choice was to take all of them on in sword combat. He made his way into the room and shut down the alarm, so they couldn't call for back up. Then, he uncloaked and the Ultras attacked the Arbiter.

Kel deflected two swift swords, and kicked out at another Ultra. It stumbled back and was dazed for a few seconds. Kel ducked under a sword but was given a kick to his face, which sent him back a few feet. The Ultra he had stunned a few seconds ago tried to regain its composure but grunted and fell to the floor as the Arbiter's sword passed through it.

One down, three to go, Kel thought as his downward strike was swiftly deflected. He rammed his fist into one of the Ultras' elbow, causing it to drop the sword. Kel took this moment to thrust his sword into the Ultra's stomach, and it fell dead. He picked up another sword, ducked and swung his dual swords, then finally the remaining Sangheili dropped to the ground. Kel seized the datapad and sneaked out to the roof. He jumped off and into his ship, flying back to Eagle's Talon.

"This is Kel, mission successful, docking now." The Arbiter said as he flew into the hangar. Kel raced off to the rec room, hoping to rest.

The Prowler swept over the forest in orbit. On the surface, it was turning night; perfect time to drop. If the sun was just right, the pods would not be able to be seen in the light. Griffin Squad entered their pods as a countdown started. Beep, beep, beep, BOOOP!

The Car-sized chunks of metal launched out of the ship like cannons. A picture came up in the pods came up.

"You're primary objective is to assassinate this Sangheili general, your secondary and Tertiary objectives are to kill his friends and recover as much equipment as possible." Reported Griffin Actual over the radio.

The marines had drilled the plan over and over again. Capture an elite and get out before dawn. Simple enough.

The pods hit the ground with considerable force. Small explosives on the doors shot them away as the troopers sprinted to cover. Some banshees strafe bombed the soldiers as two rockets streaked through the sky and culminated in two explosions. They waited for twenty minutes until it was night, before heading out. After two hours of walking, a Phantom came into view.

"Hold up." Ordered Jacob. He nodded at James, who pulled out his shotgun and knife. After ten grunts deployed from the Fravity lift, Del ran into the open, shot an alien in the head with his SMG before pulling back behind the bush James was hiding in. Three followed him, one was greeted by a twisted neck, another had its throat slit and the last hit a Shotgun shell to the face. The remaining six began to walk forward. Holly used the time the Floodlight was distracted to sprint under its belly and up into the bay. She shot each gunner in the head with a silenced DMR, before throwing two grenades in the cockpit. She then stepped over a pool of gore and shot a concussion round at the Grunt squad.

"Anyone want a ride?" She asked over their helmet radios. The other four troops got in as she closed the doors and began to fly the ship into enemy territory. She saw an autopilot switch programmed back to the landing pads. She quickly adjusted its course; into a clearing of forest close to the camp and joined the others in the troop bay.

"Hey, this junk is taking us to just outside of their camp. How sweet, huh?" She joked.

"Yeah, looks like you have a new toy." Replied Del, fiddling with his Rocket Launcher.

"Well, we are about six hours ahead of schedule. Your welcome." She answered back. "So, boss, what's the plan?"

"Same as before. Matt, take refuge in a tree with sight of the entrance. I will circle round and climb through the ventilation shafts in the building they took camp in. I will drop into his chamber as Del and James cover the exits. While he is distracted, I'll shoot him with the stun rifle." He said, pointing to the Rifle on the floor, which sent numerous electrical signals to the brain and temporarily paralysed anything. "We will drag the body out, where you will spot targets for Matt to cover us and then get back here to provide quick evac. Then we kill everything else."

The ship landed in the clearing, and opened its troop bay doors before powering down. The marines disembarked, covering each others backs as they drew closer to the once human-occupied building. They then went various ways, Jacob climbed a tree and jumped onto the roof. He then managed to slide into the shaft. He crawled until he saw the grate atop of the room. He waited for confirmation of all squad members in place.

Del snuck round the back and saw Jacob jump onto the roof. He wished he had the ability to do that. He then began to poke for a cellar door. He tapped the ground a few times before hearing a hollow thud. He dug the dirt away before climbing through the hatch and into the pitch-black room. His VISR pointed out no targets. He crept over to the stairs out, and looked through the bottom of the door. One Elite, camouflaged. He kissed his Submachinegun and stuck the barrel through the gap, firing until the elite was dead. Thankfully, the silenced weapon was a surprise, as it didn't even get chance to turn round before it died. He opened the door, sprinted over and his the carcass, putting a crate over the blood. That would keep them from finding him for now. He then walked through carious hallways to Jacobs ID and activated his signal.

James had the hardest part. He had to take out the Sangheili between the General and evac. He crept through the brush, sighting the main entrance. Two Ultras stood guard with swords. He pulled out his SAW and suppressed fire, he killed them both as Matt and Holly picked off the others. He threw some grenades in the doorway as anothe squad ran into them. The first two died, and two more had depleted shields. The last was unharmed. He finished off the unsheilded before shot gunning the Major. He gave the marksman-and woman- a thumbs up before entering. He smoke bombed some Jackals and continued on. He rounded the corner to see the general in the room. He shot the General, who raised his sword. He trigger tapped before his drum ran out, he dropped the automatic weapon in favour of the close range. Del sprayed the guards as Jacib dropped down, readied the rifle, and shot the heavy elites spine. 100,000 bolts shot up its body before it crashed to the ground; incapacitated. The three troops bound its knees, elbows, hands and feet before carrying it to the entrance. Del covered the ODST's as they scuttled to the Phantom. They got there just as it lifted off the ground, dumping the unconscious body in the troop bay. Jacob manned the main gun as Del and James got the side Plasma cannons. The ship then rumbled over the trees and opened fire. The camp, not expecting an air attack, had no weapons to bring it down and were mopped up fairly quickly. It then picked up Matt before lowering and storing various crates and weapons in the troop bay. Holly activated a FOF tag, and lifted back towards the Prowler. Just as the sun came up.

Reach was about the same as they had last remembered; barren, lifeless, and oddly quiet, Wolfpack 3-1 felt about as at home as they did back in 2552. The only difference was that the landscape lacked a thick black haze and the sound of distant chaos. The sky was also clearer, reflecting an orange glow of dusk upon the hard, dry surface of Utkozet. Private Lockett could almost still feel the heat of post-plasma-bath radiating off the ground.

James' distant voice caught his attention. "Lockett! Let's go!" he called from the top of the Elephant at the very rear of the convoy.

Aaron took one last look at the glass-scarred land and finally about-faced, lugging his M739 at his waist. "On my way," he called up. He ran a hand over vehicle's massive tread as he made is way around to the rear deployment ramp, stepping up into the cabin to find Smith resting himself against a supply crate, conversing with Marine combat engineer.

"I'm telling you, two Mammoths would've been enough for this run," the technician said.

Smith had his arm rested over the stock of his BR55. He did a take on Lockett, acknowledging him with a nod as the fading sunlight glinted off of his shades before he turned back to the white-armored serviceman. "Yeah, but the way you describe the Mammoth it sounds like something you'd use to roll over a platoon of Covenant, not take a ride to grandma's house."

"They're better built, better armed and require less of a security detail to keep safe. Seriously, the only reason they use Elephants is for these crappy meals-on-wheels ops."

Lockett grinned, and it showed since he had his shemagh down around his neck for a change. "Hear that, Smiff? Marine Force Recon on a crappy op."

"Tss...when are we not?"

The engineer raised up both palms, ready to laugh. "Huh--woah wait a sec, you guys are Recon?"

Aaron cocked his head with a nod. "Yeah, and our first ET operation is a f***'in babysitting job."

"Hey, if it makes you feel any better I feel more important if I've got Recon watching my six."

Malachi's voice came seemingly from nowhere again. "Noted," he said, emerging behind Lockett and Smith, addressing them both. "Grey's gonna keep first watch with the regularly assigned Marine escorts. We'll change out every hour."

A few less-than-enthused sounds came from the two, but James was quick to curb it. "Hey, make no mistake: this isn't exactly what we were brought up to do, and for all I'm concerned, we're along for the ride, but this isn't a joyride. Until we reach our destination, we are acting security, oorah?"

"Yeah."

"Got it."

"Good."

45 Minutes Later

Malachi reclined back in the passenger seat of a secured M12 LRV that jostled with the Elephant's turbulant cruise over the rugged terrain. "Man f*** this job."

"Welcome to my life," said the engineer, Yeven as they learned only in the past minute after Smith finally asked. "Ever since SIVs showed up, all that Marines ever get are garrison assignments, security detail and babysitting jobs."

"What about the ODSTs?" asked Lockett, meanwhile daring a few pull-ups on the cargo netting while donned in full kit. Not an easy task after the first set of ten.

Smith laughed. "The fireballs? Not for me man."

Yeven shrugged, but didn't bother to take his eyes away from his console. "Yeah, they get their fair share of action. It'd probably be more exciting than this job but I just don't have it in me to go through all of that training."

James lolled his head to the side, in Yeven's direction. "I heard a rumor that ODSTs were being drafted into the Spartan Four program."

"Unwise," said a deeper voice, one belonging to Grey as he stepped down through the roof hatch, cradling his SRS. He took a moment to say, "Smith, you're up," before continuing. "ODSTs had a generalized hatred for Spartans, believing they were glory hounds. Over time they realized how misplaced that hatred was, but then came the Spartan IVs, which accept volunteers, the kind of people who have the luxury of hounding."

Lockett and Malachi both exchanged bemused glances as Grey continued. This was the most they had heard him speak in well over three years.

"Drafting ODSTs against their will to be augmented would be like giving a watchdog carbon teeth; effective as a weapon but it's not likely to always do as you say....more or less."

At this, James shifted himself out of the passenger seat. "Alright, Grey," he said, clapping his boots against the plated floor. "How the f*** do you know all of this?"

"I put research into the ODST program through a lot of means. I once thought to sign up, but like Smith said, 'it's not for me.'"

"Well I'm glad you stayed, you creepy b*******."

"Back on topic, it makes sense not to draft anyway."

Lockett dropped from the cargo netting, taking a breath. "Not everyone's gonna agree with you on that. I can see the pro-augmentationists already up in arms about how a Spartan is better than a squad of ODSTs."

Grey nodded. "Yeah, but in the longrun you have to think about humanity's expansion, and we simply can't afford to create enough Spartans to secure every inch of ground we own."

"He's right," Yeven said. "One million Marines may not have the same punch as a thousand Spartans, but one million is still more than a thousand--more people for your quick reaction force when things get hairy in the colonies again."

"Besides," Malachi added. "When you look at it, we've got totally different jobs. Spartans have the high risk missions, ODSTs are the blacker than black mother*****s, and FORECON--"

Lockett cut him off. "Babysits cargo?"

"F*** off, Aaron."

Another two hours had passed. Wolfpack 3-1 had been rotating watches aboard their designated Elephant with hopes that some dumb son of a b**** tried to take a shot at their convoy. To no avail, as once they passed through the canyon path, the construction site was just around the corner about a mile out. Lockett, who was up top at the time announced it to his team first, laughing at the disgruntled moans and groans as the rest emerged from the hatch.

"Well on the bright side," Malachi said, "at least we won't have to clean our guns."

Smith shrugged. "Fair enough. They better not ask us to help with construction though, I'm in no f***in mood."

James shook his head and tapped his helmet mic. "Eagle Talon Actual this is Wolfpack 1-3. Precious cargo is one mile out to destination. Have an evac bird waiting for us when we get there, over."

Kel activated his cloaking device and sneaked out into the open. The Prometheans weren't letting anyone else into the camp, so he had to 'be there since it was set up'. Finally when there was nobody in sight, he uncloaked and strolled casually through the camp. The Arbiter continued to meet an Elite telling Knights orders. They vanished to do something and the Field Marshal that was commanding looked back at the computer. Then the Field Marshal spotted Kel.

"Hey, I'm the only Sangheili here. And the only that is supposed to be here!" It leveled its Storm Rifle. "Explain, now, Arbiter."

"The Council told me to come here. I was late." Kel lied.

"They would have told me! You are a trait- ughh." The Field Marshal fell to the ground with Kel's sword in its stomach. Kel yanked the sword out and hid its body over in the cave.

Talon never said anything about the Covenant, the Arbiter thought angrily. He made his way into he room. A small cube was suspended in the air by some gravitational device. It was about 3 x 3 x 3 cubed inches, and was emitting a soft blue glow. Nothing was ever this easy. Kel grabbed it and ran outside. He also needed to eliminate the Prometheans here. Climbing up the rocky cliff that overlooked the camp, he could see all the enemies here. The Arbiter grabbed his Carbine and looked in through the scope. 20 Crawlers, 5 regular Knights, a Knight Commander, and 3 Knight Battlewagons. One of the Battlewagons vanished and went somewhere. Kel couldn't find it anywhere. Then he knew: Behind him. The Arbiter felt a searing pain in his back and he rocketed toward the ground...

Kel's armor smashed and crushed the rocky ground he landed on. He got up and fired an entire mag of Carbine shots, killing all but one of the crawlers. That one tackled Kel and started biting at him. The Arbiter collapsed its face and bolted up, now his energy sword in hand. A regular Knight swiped its hardlight sword and Kel ducked, then he thrust his sword into the Knight's chest, making it disintegrate. Another two other Knights appeared in front of Kel. The Arbiter stabbed one, and the other fired off four shots of its light rifle which downed Kel's shields. Before it could get a headshot to finish the job, Kel chucked a plasma grenade at it, and it exploded. Finally the last regular Knight charged the Arbiter, and it was greeted by hot energy from Kel's sword. The battlewagons leveled their incineration cannons and prepped to fire.

The three hardlight blasts sent Kel up into the air, and he smashed into the ground. The blow also downed his shields. He connected his sword with one, but only disabled its shields. The Arbiter swiped again, and it disintegrated. Another punched Kel against the cliff face, and tried to stab Kel. He dodged and got on top of the Battlewagon's back, and drove his energy sword into its neck. Finally the knight was dead. The last one fired its cannon and almost killed Kel. The Arbiter threw his sword at the Battlewagon, and it connected to its weak spot. It vanished with death and now what was left was the commander.

The Commander shot at Kel with its scattershot. The bolts downed Kel's shields. He dove behind cover before another blast could destroy his body. The Arbiter leaped over the rock and swung at the Commander, who dodged all of his attacks. Finally, it retaliated and struck downward, catching Kel's chest and setting in a wound. Before Kel could react, he was picked up and thrown against the cliff face.

This is the end, though Kel as the Commander approached him. But his adrenaline took over, and Kel stabbed it in the chest, killing it.

The Arbiter sighed.

-------------------

"Talon, mission successful." Said Kel over the comms to the Ops Commander as a medic treated his wounds. They were in a pelican, flying back to Eagle's Talon.

Home.

Lance Corporal Salvinski emerged from the depths of the Elephant, flipping the groin protector up and holding it in place with his left hand while his right hand went to town on groping his balls. Somehow during the a**-numbing three (or however many hours it'd been) ride his nuts had decided to sweat up a storm inside his fatigues, leaving his bits coated in a hefty layer of sweat - he rationalized it as something akin to a nonstick cooking spray being applied to his genitals.

A few more minor adjustments that resulted in his slung MA5 clattering against his M41 before the FORECON operator with a properly adjusted junk and nothing more to do than b**** about the fact they had a whole nother mile to drive in this ungodly slow vehicle, he let the groin flap drop back into place.

"Jesus-f***ing-tap-dancing-Christ, 'bout damn time," the Marine grumbled as all Marines do, "This is seriously cutting into my beer time."

The frigate, UNSC Minutes to Midnight dropped out of Slipspace in a fleet. Although there were plenty of ships there, reinforcements were needed on ground. One section of the fleet descended into orbit, launching thousands of pods, among them was Fireteam Griffin.

As the pods broke through the cloud layer, the shock troopers saw the planet they faced; a heat-blasted desert moon with most of its atmosphere vaporised. It was even more vital now that they took cover. As pod after pod landed, the low gravity didnt create a kinetic explosion as much as a gentle touch down. Jacob activated the door, jumped out, and got to work. Looking around, he could see that he was on a mountaintop, below was an unusual ring of desert plains, then one solitary high mountain. He wondered why he wasn't dropped on the plains when a passing Pelicsn was vaporised by some kind of invisible energy shield. Up on the cliff above, a pod hit the side of a mountain, dragged down and hit an outcropping, causing an avalanche which killed three troopers as the pod went tumbling to its death.

"Griffin, get up this road and clear a landing for the Pelicans!" He shouted as he began to sprint. On the cliffs were various Shade and turret emplacements, all of which were mowing down the ODST's like grass. He heard several sniper shots and various explosions before some more of the cliff collapsed. They began to make their way to a large, flat area flanked by three talk mountains on all sides. A Covenant outpost was set up in the middle.

"Push forward!"

"Go go go!"

"On the left, left!"

"Snipers, 2'O'Clock!" Were all things over the open frequency COM Channel. He dived at the sound of Banshees and emptied his battle rifle into one.

"All units, push forward onto their command base. Our AI can then disable the energy field" came orders from the fleet. Good, they had an objective. The charge began across the open ground. All it took was one hit for the suit to be ruptured and then you were gone. He fired his rifle at a grunt ranger. It was sent flying, tumbling off the drop. Slowly, they were pushing forward. A wave of Shortswords flew by and dropped explosives on the enemy, thinning their numbers. He saw James run into a shade and mow down aliens with plasma fire. Then, silence. As quickly as it began, it stopped. The remaining survivors, 46 of 250 scouted the outpost, removing their oxygen tanks. There was breathable atmosphere in there. Jacob looked around until he saw an activation panel. He pressed it.

"Good work men, worm in system. Pods en route to establish permanent bases, evac is on the way. Rest while you can, the assault is just beginning."

He put his helmet back on and walked outside. The wounded and dead humans were brought inside or loaded onto the dropships. Aliens were thrown off the cliff.

"Griffin, you are to report to Pelican 5/69, you are to assault the-" the signal ended to static. A barricade began to slide towards the spire. The shield, once transparent was now fluctuating in a rainbow of colours. He scrambled to get into cover, anything. He ducked into a cave, watched the shield burst, and everything went white in the implosion.

Ty locked his M7 into place to his left. He pulled his Hat down tight on his head, and slipped the oxygen mask over his face.

"Testing Inter-pod comms. Can everyone hear me?"

"Yeah, I hear you Ty." Joe said.

"Wish I couldn't" Logan replied.

"I read ya kid. first drop, Ya nervous?" Mathison asked.

"No way! I'm excited! It'll be like the worlds best rollercoaster!"

"Sure you wouldn't rather wear a helmet?"

"I don't like the helmets, they're uncomfortable."

"So's a Plasma bolt to the head." Logan muttered.

"Love you too Logan." Ty laughed.

Mathison hit a button on his Pod's console.

"All right, this mission's on the Clock. Callsigns from here on out. Razgriz, Checking in. Riteoff up."

"Reload, Up."

"Rockstar, Up."

"Replay, Up."

"Razgriz is Green for deployment, Command. Shoot us where you need us."

To Be Continued.

(( Yoshi, I approved this, but next time wait for a response before you post here.))

Miller appeared in front of the drop pods.

"We're dropping you on a pass, so take note that we may be off the target zone a bit. Good Luck Razgriz."

Miller disappeared.

A voice crackled on in the pods.

"Drop in 30 seconds."

Ty readjusted his harness. Joe rearranged his HUD.

"10 seconds."

Mathison cracked his knuckles.

"5.......4....."

Logan Closed his eyes.

"3......2....."

Ty held his breath.

"1. Launch."

The four drop pods shot from the tubes. they drifted down for a bit, before hitting the Atmosphere, and began gaining speed.

Mathison reached forward and hit the Inter-pod button.

"Everyone in formation?"

"Reload, Affirmative."

"Replay, Right on the money."

"Rockstar, I'm off a bit, readjusting."

"Alright, we get down there, I want to split up and move to the Rendezvous Point in buddy teams, Replay, you're spotting for Rockstar. Get to and Observation point and get an overwatch on the ships grav lift."

"Roger."

"You got it."

The pods rocked as the Airfoils deployed.

"10 seconds to impact, Brace!"

The pods slammed into the ground, and Razgriz jumped out and secured their starting point.

Pershing stepped off of the Pelican and proceeded to the assembly area that was designated for the training of milita.

He arrived in full gear as usual and walked in a way that you would never suspect he was hurt.

The varied assortment of wannabe soldiers was a sorry sight. It would take some serious work to make a fighter out of them.

"Time to play jackass" he thought as he silently inspected them.

"Good god, what fresh hell have I been dealt! I could get better soldiers from a playground!"

They shuffled nervously.

"Did I say you could move?! You better stan.......You there, what's your name?"

"Thomas nolan."

"I don't think you heard me son, WHAT IS YOUR NAME?!"

"THOMAS NOLAN SIR!"

"Why are you out of uniform soldier?!"

"I didn't recive any gear sir!"

"Bull****! The truth is, you lost an expensive piece of army issue equipment! Do you know how much that gear costs?"

"No sir!"

"Well that's too bad, because that will be coming out of your pay. Know what that means?"

"No sir!"

"It means, idiot, that you will serve in this mans army until you are five-hundred and ten years old. DO I MAKE MYSELF CLEAR?!"

"SIR, YES SIR."

"Get back in line maggot. If you're given an order you will follow it. If I tell you to jump, you jump. If I tell you to shoot, you shoot. IF I TELL YOU TO DIE FOR YOUR SPECIES, YOU WILL MOST CERTAINLY DIE!"

"SIR, YES SIR."

He proceeded back to inspecting the line, when a voice came from the opposite end.

"I have a question sarge!"

"What did you just call me?"

"Sarge......sir!"

"Let me tell you something. If I like you, you may call me sarge. Guess what? I DON'T LIKE YOU! You will call me sergeant or Drill sergeant. DO I MAKE MYSELF CLEAR?!"

"Yes sir sergeant!"

"Now, what is your question?"

"When will we be learning combat training sir?"

"Good question."

Pershing drew his M1911 and proceeded to load it.

"You have three attempts to disarm me. Go."

The civilian rushed at him and was quickly thrown down.

"Again!"

It was another failure.

"Last chance."

It was another doomed attempt. He was rolling around in pain.

"Too bad son, guess you're not ready for combat training."

He pointed the pistol at his knee and shot.

The civilian was rolling around in pain clutching his knee.

"Pathetic. Imagine if that had actually been a bullet."

There was a slight moment of relief from the rest of the recruits.

"Welcome to the next two weeks. DISMISSED!"

((Harsh... O_o))

Ty walked over to the auxiliary pod and opened it, and pulled the mongoose out.

"Ready to go Rockstar?"

"After you."

They hopped on and Ty started the engine.

"Gonna need to drive a bit away, else they're gonna hear the motor."

Mathison waved him off.

"Do what you gotta. Now get goin! we're on the clock."

"Yes sir!"

With that, Ty drove off with Logan hanging on the back of the Mongoose.

Mathison turned to Joe.

"Ready?"

He hefted his SAW.

"A Petripalo is always ready."

"And I'm sure that means somethin' to someone kid. Let's move it. Double time."

They jogged off.

"Riteoff, this is Rockstar, Come in."

"Rockstar, I read you, send it."

"Were about 300 Meters from the drop point. Nothing on the ground right now. Still want us to set up Overwatch?"

"Negative, Hold position. Radio in if anyone Pokes their head out."

"Got it. Rockstar Out."

Mathison slowed his pace a little. Joe turned to face him.

"Problem?"

"Not as young as I used to be."

"NO really?" Joe said sarcastically. "I thought age was a load of crap?"

"Go to hell kid."

"Already there."

Mathison matched Petripalo's pace, and the continued to the RP.

Kel descended into the forest. He looked on his wrist-pad. Mines everywhere, camouflaged soldiers in the trees, constant quietness. He activated his camo and proceeded through the forest. It was a barren place, not much. Just trees, swamps, and danger. However it was the things Kel liked to do. He was never one for leading. These missions he had been getting have been perfect. It was almost as if nothing could go wrong... CRZZT. The Arbiter stepped into a puddle which deactivated his cloak, and he dove behind a tree. Then Kel heard footsteps. He shoved a sharp rock into the tree he was standing behind and could hear that is was only one. That was a technique he learned from the humans. Using a knife or something to amplify vibrations. The Insurrectionist walked past the tree Kel was hiding behind. The Arbiter approached the soldier and snapped his neck, making him fall quietly into the water. Kel stepped onto dry land and activated his cloak once more, still having 2 miles to go.

Finally when he reached the base, it was teeming with activity. Soldiers loaded up weapons onto warthogs and other supply trucks. Kel assumed the Field Marshal was in the big building that had a red fist on the front of it. Arriving at a tunnel, he saw that a few Insurrectionists were out for a smoke. It was dark, and the only lights were non-blinking strobe lights. Thinking of plan, he heard them walk away and out of the tunnel.

Real easy..., thought Kel as he came out on the other side of the tunnel. This was probably where the Science department was, as the Arbiter could see humans dressed in white lab coats running about computers an other devices. Continuing on to the command centre, Kel found an officer talking to his men.

"We will destroy the Covenant! We will destroy the UNSC. We will take over the galaxy!" as the Officer said that, men cheered loudly. Kel entered the command centre without making a sound.

On the inside, the Arbiter saw many heavily armed guards throughout the hallways. He noticed a sign that said 'SOLITARY CONFINEMENT ----------->', so Kel took that route while being wary of the guards. When he finally came to the cell and, just his luck, saw a guard standing right in the doorway. Seeing as there was no other way in, he would have to fight. Kel uncloaked and and swipe his energy sword at the guard, who ducked, but Kel was faster and crushed the radio on the guard's chest, so he couldn't call for back up. A punch clanged against Kel's armor, and the Arbiter punched the guard so hard, he went through the door and opened the chamber for Kel. Then the Arbiter realized it was his old friend Roh...

"Kel?!" Roh looked horrified.

"Yeah, it's me. I was sent on a mission to get you out."

"But... you left the Covenant... I don't-"

"I left because I was made Arbiter!"

"You were...?" Roh was surprised as ever.

Kel pulled out a second cloaking remote.

"Take this, we can use it to escape to your exchange point." the Arbiter said as he handed it to Roh. They both activated their cloaks, and sneaked out to the forest, away from the base. Finally when they came to the edge of a cliff, Kel saw a fleetmaster and two Honor Guards standing.

"I assume you have our Field Marshal?" The fleetmaster asked.

"Give me the core first." Kel said.

The fleetmaster tossed the ball of energy into Kel's hands. The Arbiter nodded and shoved Roh back to them.

"Thank you, Kel 'Vacoree." The fleetmaster walked back into his ship. Once Kel saw that they were far out of the atmosphere, he activated his comm.

"Eagle's Talon, Kel here, mission successful. I need a pickup."

After a few minutes, the ship finally came. Soon Kel was on his way to the Eagle's Talon, hoping to get a good rating as he always did.
